In the scientific Latin of the 17th century is used to refer to the point at which rays of light reflected by a lens converge.... from this sense of focus has arisen “center of activity”. In many ways Focus Magazine fits most of these meanings. 8 Kitchen Design Trends That Will Last Into 2020 and Beyond

The kitchen is one of the most influential indicators of a home’s design style, second only to perhaps its exterior façade. Less permanent interior design elements such as paint colors, textiles, furniture, or rugs can easily be swapped out to transform a space. A traditional living room can become modern with a new interior design scheme and accessories. The kitchen, however, requires substantial investment and renovation to achieve the same transformative result. Kitchen cabinets, countertops, and layout are a more permanent reflection of the home’s design style. Below are 8 kitchen design trends that have gained popularity in 2019 and that we predict will last into 2020 and beyond. 1. Sustainable Materials - We are all living more eco-friendly today and that sense of environmental responsibility has even transcended into the way consumers are purchasing kitchens. Today’s homeowner is demanding cabinetry that is made with sustainable materials, responsible manufacturing processes and low emissions finishes. 2. Gold Hardware - A more sophisticated version of the bright brass hardware that was popular in the late twentieth century, today’s modern gold hardware is a bit more muted and often has a matte finish. Like jewelry in the fashion world, gold knobs and pulls can either be mixed and matched with other metallic finishes such as stainless steel appliances or faucets, or gold can dominate throughout. 3. Dark Blue Cabinetry - Dark and navy blues have infiltrated the pages of interior design magazines over that past few years and top designers are utilizing this timeless hue in beautifully appointed luxury kitchens. Dark blue cabinets can be used as an accent color on an island, or they can be incorporated throughout. 4. Open Shelves + Deep Drawers - The steady disappearance of upper cabinets has been a design trend that we have seen gain popularity in the last several years. Perhaps driven by the farmhouse movement, open shelving is growing more popular. To replace upper cabinet storage, homeowners are also demanding larger and deeper drawers. 5. Full Wall Backsplashes - Both beautiful and functional, full wall backsplashes not only provide a dramatic accent wall in the kitchen, they also are easier to clean and more durable than painted walls. Driven by the trend to eliminate upper cabinetry, backsplashes are now given the opportunity to extend uninterrupted from countertop to ceiling. 6. Walnut - Although painted cabinets dominate the market

today, many designers are choosing dark wood cabinets as a subtle accent or to make a bold statement. Walnut has traditionally been a choice species for furniture makers, but as the lines between furniture and built-in cabinetry are blurred, we are seeing walnut make its way into the kitchen. 7. Minimalism - A further refinement of the modern design trend is the growing interest in minimalism. Minimalist kitchens are sleek and simple, without excess ornamentation or decoration. A minimalist kitchen typically has slab style door and drawer fronts and hidden hardware. 8. Double Islands - Islands are often dual purpose, they provide extra countertop area for food prep and they are also a place to gather and entertain. One island is focused on food preparation and storage with a large sink, undercounter appliances, and large drawers, while the second island accommodates casual entertaining with a bar sink, wine storage, and extra seating. Franklin County Garden Club had a great program about Shade Gardens by Scott Eslick, co-owner of Lawns Unlimited. First what is a shade garden? A shade garden is planting area in an with less than 4 hours of direct sunlight. Gardeners must consider the different kinds of shade; there is the good, bad and the ugly shade. Good Shade has morning and afternoon shade, with dappled sunlight. The area is shaded but bright. Bad Shade consists of dense shade, with no direct sunlight, and shallow tree roots. Ugly Shade is dark areas often caused by structures and shallow tree roots. There are 3 challenges with gardens under shade trees. The lack of sunlight, water and

You can add more sunlight by pruning the limbs and also supplying water and nutrients directly to plants. Consider how you want to design your shade garden? What is on your wish list? A particular plant that you want to use, inanimate garden accents, and/ or structures. These structures are defined as; Retaining walls, boulders, pathways, fences, bed edging, and water features. Accent pieces are statuary furniture, pottery wind chimes, bird feeders /baths. To begin, your design use structure first, height second and fill in the gaps with the plants, and mulch will be needed. There are many shade loving Perennials (plants that come back each year) English Ivy, Liriope, Ajuga, Ferns like painted ferns, Hosta, Heuchera, Brunnera, Astilbe, Dicentra, Lily of the Valley, Hakonechloa, Solomonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Seal. Hiking at Old Stone Fort State Park

Old Stone Fort has several miles of hiking trails at all levels of difficulty. Forks of the River - 0.30 Miles - Easy. This is a pleasant walk off the Enclosure Trail to where the Big Duck River and the Little Duck River meet to form the Duck River. Moat Trail - 0.45 Miles - Easy. Also known as the Old River Channel Trail, this trail connects to the Forks of the River Trail and the Enclosure Trail. Garrison Road Trail - 0.80 Miles - Moderate. The name refers to a fort from the very early 1800s called Purdie’s Garrison. The road served as a route of the Nickajack Trace as it ran from the Purdie’s Garrison to the area of the Old Stone Fort. Nature Trail - 0.85 Miles - Easy. This trail offers a pleasant walk through the woods and returns through the back end of the campground. Backbone Trail - 1.25 Miles Moderate to Strenuous. Also known as the Little Duck River Loop Trail, this is an extension of the main interpretive path. Enclosure Trail - 1.40 Miles - Easy to Moderate. The path is a loop that follows the perimeter of the fort, traveling along the deep gorges cut by the rivers on either side of the site. That question for Coffee County and the surrounding area is now answered...It goes to the all new Southern Waste Transfer Station in the Interstate Industrial Park at 490 Volunteer Court Manchester, Tennessee. Southern Waste LLC was formed in 2017 by Southern Central Waste Services and a group of local investors. The gates opened to construction/demolition companies, businesses, industrial businesses and the general public in March 2019. It is part of the CFC family of businesses that include Southern Central in McMinnville and CFC Recycle and Pick ‘N Pull in Tullahoma. The group saw the need for a waste disposal site in the central Coffee County area. Local residents will find the facility is the solution for those items that are not allowed in the convenience centers. Or perhaps they don’t want to take the time to separate these materials. “We realized there was a need as the issue of garbage and trash grows every day” explained David Cleveland. We wanted to extend our service not only to commercial customers but to the general public he continued. The state of the art facility is designed to handle every customer very efficiently. With 2 sets of scales, inbound and outbound, and two sets of on-site material handlers, the in and out time is an average of 10 minutes. This works well for both commercial and residential users. Hike to Rutledge Falls

0.8 Miles Round Trip - 50 ft gain - Out-and-Back Trail

Find the trail parking area by following your GPS to “Rutledge Falls Baptist Church’’. You will see a small parking area on the side of the road across the street from the church. The path to the falls is extremely short with a steep section to climb down to the base of the falls. This trail is on private property but open to the public. If you’re brave, you can climb up the right side of the falls and jump into the pool below! There is a perfect swimming hole, especially in the summer when water levels aren’t high. The spring water is so refreshing during our hot Tennessee summers. You can feel the temperature change as you get down to the falls. Perhaps the most scenic area in all of Coffee County, this waterfal is just outside of Tullahoma, TN. It’s not a state or city park, but located on private property. The owners are gracious enough to allow visitors and have provided a small parking lot beside the street and a small path to the overlook. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; remove bacon, and drain on paper towels, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon, and set aside. Sauté onion and garlic in hot drippings 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in corn; cook 5 to 7 minutes or until golden. Remove from heat. Cook flour in a large clean skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes or until golden. Gradually whisk in half-and-half until smooth. Add corn mixture, salt, and pepper; cook 5 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in butter and basil. Sprinkle each serving with bacon, and garnish, if desired.
