The Broadmoor’s Centennial heralds a new era of luxury, with magnificently modern updates to historic Broadmoor Main.
Since 1918 The Broadmoor has deftly maintained a balance of trends and tradition, enticing guests to return year after year and, in many cases, generation after generation. As the resort celebrates its 100th birthday this year, a makeover of Broadmoor Main effects stunning upgrades to the Broadmoor’s original building—along with the introduction of a new café and an exclusive line of Broadmoor chocolates.
Today, our magnificent Broadmoor resort campus continues to redefine luxury as it welcomes you with so much that’s new, including:
All of Broadmoor Main’s guest rooms have been refreshed with new colors, furniture and carpeting, elevating accommodations to match the finishes of Broadmoor West’s popular residential look and feel.
The Main lobby has been expanded and reimagined with welcoming amenities such as plush seating areas around a cozy fireplace and space to conduct business, as well as a grand floating staircase and entry that honors all the historic elements that guests expect.
The former Cheyenne Gourmet, next to the new lobby fireplace, has been transformed into Café Julie’s, a casual Parisian-inspired patisserie serving house-made baked goods, sandwiches, gelato, chocolates and other gourmet treats. It is a gathering place for signature coffees and espresso, exclusive handmade chocolates from the new chocolate kitchen within the café, artisan breads and specialty pastries. Beginning in the afternoon, wine and beer are also available.

Highlighted by the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, The Broadmoor adds to its rich history of golf.
All eyes were on The Broadmoor as leading professional and amateur golfers over 50 years of age competed in the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, golf’s most prestigious senior event.
Held on The Broadmoor’s famed East Course from June 28 through July 1 and hosted by Honorary Chair John Elway, more than 135,000 spectators turned out to watch David Toms pull away from the field to
win the Championship following four hard-fought rounds of golf action. The 2018 U.S. Senior Open was the eighth USGA Championship to be held at The Broadmoor.
Golfers can enjoy the same championship-caliber golf on The Broadmoor’s two courses, as well as the upgraded amenities and features of our recently refreshed Broadmoor Golf Club. Highlights include:
The Broadmoor’s full-service Golf Club sports a welcoming lobby area that greets guests and members in a comfortably luxurious fashion. A new Heritage Hallway displays
The Broadmoor’s rich golf history through a series of curated photos and exhibits that highlight the traditions, tournaments and champions that have contributed to the resort’s storied legacy.
Some of the world’s best golfers count on Callaway clubs for sustained performance, and amateur golfers can likewise benefit from the innovative technology that keeps Callaway on top. The Broadmoor is pleased to partner with Callaway Golf to offer an exclusive opportunity for guests to work with a Callaway-certified professional to custom-fit clubs and help fine-tune their game. With the Callaway Drive or Putt Experience, a certified Callaway fitter works with you to custom-fit and build either a new driver or a new putter, among additional perks. Or choose the Callaway “All the Way” package and receive an entire bag of custom-fitted Callaway clubs.
While the Golf Club’s restaurant is new, guests will feel instantly at home in a welcoming space that inspires not only with its timeless design and classic club bar, but also with a menu that brings back some of The Broadmoor’s favorite offerings in a setting as spectacular as the cuisine. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the mountains from within The Grille, as well as from outside patio seating.
Summit’s Chef de Cuisine expands the culinary horizons at one of the resort’s most-celebrated restaurants.
Luis Young, Chef de Cuisine at Summit, is changing the way his guests think about fine, seasonal dining.
Chef Young’s professional experience has been forged in the world's finest kitchens, from his time as an intern at Alinea and the Celler De Can Roca, to his work as a professional at the French Laundry. Chef Young’s fresh, inspired style pays homage to contemporary regional cuisines of the Americas with a classic twist. His dishes are inspired by an ever-changing bounty of peak seasonal ingredients, executed

with a clean, fresh style that expertly balances luxury and simplicity, and his technique evokes the highest levels of quality and attention to detail. The restaurant’s contemporary atmosphere—which features a visually striking, glass-enclosed wine turret that stores more than 500 bottles—and Summit’s expertly crafted cocktails complement the cuisine. Be sure to share the details of your evening with Chef Young, as he goes above and beyond to ensure that all feel welcome, cared for and, above all, look forward to a return visit.
Staying at The Broadmoor is now an even sweeter experience with the addition of a state-of-the-art chocolate kitchen, where chefs prepare delectable creations daily using a private-label blend made by premium chocolate manufacturer Valrhona. Located inside Café Julie’s, The Broadmoor’s new Parisian-inspired patisserie, guests can watch the confections be made right in front of their eyes through the kitchen’s viewing window. Chocolatiers working in the temperature- and humiditycontrolled kitchen produce 18 varieties of tempting treats each day, which are displayed for sale in the store and served throughout The Broadmoor’s restaurants and cafés. Guests may also take a sampling of chocolates home with them in attractive gift boxes featuring Café Julie’s logo.

These beautifully presented new books are an ideal keepsake to commemorate the resort’s Centennial.
Experience The Broadmoor’s rich and colorful past through a pictorial history book that captures the resort’s heart and soul.
Acolorful resort like The Broadmoor tends to collect a lot of legends and lore over 100 years. With the publication of “The Broadmoor Story,” the resort’s impressive history is authoritatively detailed for the first time. Created in celebration of The Broadmoor’s Centennial and filled with entertaining tales and vivid pictures from the resort’s rich past, this beautifully crafted, 212-page hardcover pictorial history begins with the early days of Colorado Springs and stretches to the present under the ownership of The Anschutz family. Mr. Anschutz grew up visiting The Broadmoor as a young man and is the driving force behind the resort’s most recent renovations and expansions. “The Broadmoor Story” recently won
two first-place literary awards from the Colorado Independent Publishers Association in both the history and design categories.
Archival photographs, many of them never before seen in print, include everything from scenes of the hotel’s construction and amenities long gone— including a riding arena, Ice Palace and ski area—as well as the still-operating golf course and the new Wilderness Experience properties: Cloud Camp, Fly Fishing Camp and The Ranch at Emerald Valley. There’s also a slew of archival photos of employees, Penrose family members and celebrity guests, including Prince Harry, President Gerald Ford, Jackie Gleason, Bob Hope and Liberace.
“The Broadmoor Story” and “The Broadmoor and Sea Island Cookbooks” are available online at Broadmoor.com, as well as in The Broadmoor, Signature and Centennial Shops at the resort.
Guests can enjoy a taste of The Broadmoor and its sister resort, coastal Georgia’s Sea Island in their own home with two new books—“The Broadmoor : Spirit of the West” and “Sea Island: Soul of the South.” Published in celebration of The Broadmoor’s 100th and Sea Island’s 90th anniversaries and written by Sarah Anschutz Hunt, the cookbooks take readers on a captivating journey through both resorts’ rich histories and feature traditions and more than 50 recipes inspired by their distinct cultures.
Packaged together in an attractive slipcase that represents the coming together of these two iconic
resorts, each book details timeless traditions and includes favorite recipes and beautiful photography that highlight the unique nature of each property. Recipes include regional delicacies, such as The Broadmoor’s Bacon & Brown Butter Cast-Iron Trout, Colorado Chili and Eagle’s Nest Ranch Cornbread and Sea Island’s Low Country Boil, Honey Money Fried Chicken and Pimento Mac & Cheese.
For past guests, it’s a treasured keepsake that reminds them of memories made in these special places. And for those who haven’t yet visited, it’s a small taste of what’s in store.
The fun doesn’t end when winter begins. The Broadmoor is pleased to offer complimentary activities for our guests during their stay.

While the original Ice Palace, renamed The Broadmoor World Arena in 1961, no longer stands, it still remains as a cornerstone of skating sports. To honor all the Ice Palace meant, and all the great athletes and coaches who called it home, The Broadmoor hosted its first of many Centennial celebration events on January 20. Called “A Legacy of Ice,” the event raised funds for the U.S. Figure Skating Memorial Fund and USA Hockey Foundation.
On June 1, 1918, exactly four weeks before The Broadmoor’s official unveiling on June 29, Spencer and Julie Penrose opened the doors to 200 of their closest friends for a preview, welcoming in a new age in hospitality. This past June, The Broadmoor updated the tradition with a weekend-long Gala celebration. Hundreds of guests joined us for a Prohibition Era Cocktail Party on Friday evening, followed by an after-party Cabaret. On Saturday, guests dined and danced to a full orchestra during a grand reception that recalled the lavish celebrations hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Penrose.
More than 135,000 fans attended the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, held on The Broadmoor’s East Course June 28–July 1. It will be the third U.S. Senior Open and the ninth USGA championship to be held at The Broadmoor.

Over the past 90 years, Sea Island has evolved from a “friendly little hotel” into a world-famous destination.
Sea Island resort, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year and is now under shared ownership with The Broadmoor, has enough stories to fill every inch of the isle. Over the years, the coastal Georgia resort has transformed from a “friendly little hotel” into an internationally acclaimed destination—and is the only resort in the world to earn four Forbes Five Star ratings for 10 years in a row. Even while services and amenities are constantly reimagined to meet modern expectations, Sea Island continues to honor its past, retaining its signature elegance and the undeniable sense of community that charms

The Plantation Course, one of three championship golf courses at Sea Island, will also undergo a full renovation by Love Golf Design, which will be completed prior to the 2019 RSM Classic.
