Villa Della Torre Allegrini Villa Della Torre Allegrini, created by Giulio Romano and Michele Sanmicheli, exudes the magic of the Italian Renaissance. Conceived of by its patron, the man of letters, Giulio Della Torre, who actively cooperated in the realization of his humanist ideal, saw his dream fulfilled and completed in its finest details by 1560. Inspired by the Ancient Roman Domus with all its pomp and splendour, the villa is built around an inner courtyard or ‘Peristyle’, which is the true heart of the house, along with the sixteenth century motifs of Water, symbolized by the Fish Pond, and Fire, embodied in the huge, gargoyle-like fireplaces created by the renowned stucco artist and decorator Giovan Battista Scultori. The octagonal Chapel described by Vasari and the Bucintoro grotto dedicated to Jupiter Ammon complete the extraordinary scenic effect of the entire monumental complex and confirm its historic and artistic importance. The Villa is surrounded, so as to form a single, unique landscape, by the Palazzo della Torre vineyard which produces a wine of the same name. It is famous throughout the world for its intensity and complexity and for having ranked numerous times in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 wines.

Art Rooms The result of extraordinary restoration work, the Art Rooms are located in the southern wing of Villa Della Torre and celebrate the bond between Allegrini and the world of Art. The seven luxurious rooms in this wing are named after some of the Villa’s leading historical figures (Veronica Franco, Anna Maffei, Giulio Della Torre, Giulio Romano, Gian Matteo Giberti, Michele Sanmicheli and Giovan Battista Scultori). Elegance and refinement are distinguishing hallmarks of all the rooms: antique oak floors, murals with floral and geometric patterns, antique objets d’art and period furniture made by skilled cabinetmakers. These features all combine to re-evoke an ancient and noble past. While maintaining stylistic harmony, each room has its own unique identity, inspired by each historic figure and illustrated by the use of different colours, fabrics and furnishings, all selected with utmost care. All the rooms are equipped with sumptuous beds, fine handcrafted furniture and refined upholstery and look out over the Villa’s Peristyle and Fish Pond. The bathrooms are like treasure chests, lined with book-matched Renaissance marble and enriched with washbasins set into Baroque-style furniture and with showers and bathtubs equipped to pamper mind and body. A unique opportunity to experience the Renaissance at first hand.

The majestic bathroom is decorated with coffered ceiling and beautifully decorated with Breccia Damascata and Rosso Alicante types of marble. Equipped with a double-spa bathtub and double shower/sauna, both with chromo therapy.

Anna Maffei The Maffei family, who were of Germanic origin, had been one of the most prominent, noble families in the city of Verona since medieval times, where they occupied positions of high office. Anna Maffei married Giulio Della Torre, bringing with her the Villa in Fumane as her dowry. Dedicated to her, this room is decorated in delicate colours and enjoys a lovely view over the Fish Pond, designed by the Renaissance architect, Giulio Romano. An ancient and very plain wall, which re-emerged during restoration work recalls the time when the Villa also housed a monastery and then served as a temporary military headquarters during the Second World War. The bathroom, lined with precious Calacatta Borghini and Giallo Siena marble, has a shower equipped with chromo therapy.
