Makassarese kings maintained a policy of free trade. Trade in spices figured prominently in the history of Sulawesi. Nationally famous as an important port of call for the “pinisi” boats, sailing ships in use for regular long-distance trade as applied conceptual abstraction for exterior façade design.

Residential developments are expanding rapidly to accommodate growing demands as wealth accumulated and concentrated with this city over the past decades. Conceptual form of these towers is inspired by beautiful pastoral open landscape within the site and unimpeded views of mountain beyond. Ketchum Hotel & Residential Ketchum, Idaho, U.S. Located approximately 2 miles southwest of Sun Valley, Idaho is this past century old mining town evolved into typical urban grid over the years. The grid ranges from 8 to10 city blocks each direction and oriented at 45 degree. Located within the valley of this mountainous region and on the furthest edge of town. The site occupied an entire city block with a development area of 132,000 sf. Although a parcel of this city block to be developed into an art center for Ketchum, 100,000 sf still reserved for the Ketchum Lodge development. Consist of 78 keys hotel, 10 Whole Ownership units (3,000sf./each), 18 Fractional Units (2,500–3,000sf/each), 24 Community Housings (500–900 sf/each), and 23 Employee Housings (380-580sf/each), 5000sf restaurant, Spa-fitness, roof deck pool and sky bar. The use of vernacular vocabulary with regional characteristic maintaining a sense of warmth and comfort to guests and visitors; with rustic materials such as western cedars accented with sealed corten steel panels and local mountain ledgestone veneer. Pragmatism and responsive to regional climate. Elements of heavy timbers and exposed wood framings with roof rafters and joists accented its architecture as seamless external and internal spatial relationship.

Project site is the existing upper portion of the current property, consists of approximately 4.5 acres, and located within the Mulholland Scenic Parkway Specific Plan Institutional Corridor and the Brentwood-Pacific Palisades Community Planning District. The 4.5 acres site contain components of four single story buildings with classrooms, computer workrooms, technology/media center space, art center, meeting hall, student lounge and administrative space. Reflecting minimalist approach to harmonize with the scenic natural surroundings, integrated with natural site topography, and nestle below Mulholland Drive.

Surrounded by neighbouring residential and Los Angeles River to the east, this campus draws upon nature and meandering river as a source of inspiration to planning and design. Innovative design and configuration of the academic, administrative, gymnasium and multipurpose buildings bend to frame the central courtyard while simulating the flow of nearby river. Result is an enclosed safe zone for students with individual academic library encouraging indoor-outdoor learning environment. Various elements of dynamic nature of the river is reflected on the lunch shelter undulating canopy, the multipurpose and gymnasium undulating cmu walls, and folding rooftop photovoltaic panels. Sustainable elements of solar control sunshades, concrete mixed fly ash, and shaded trees of open space to enjoy local climate.

Santa Ana College Child Development Center Santa Ana, Ca., U.S.

Located on the edge of a commuter campus and within vast surface parking lot, this new facility provide connection between campus pedestrian modernist low rise classroom buildings and direct adjacent neighbouring single family suburban bungalows. This center serves both the children of college students and local residents with providing nursery and playground experience emphasizing children development and social skills. Inspired by the gardens, porches and cottages of earlier childhood education facility, cluster of nurseries reflecting a small campus environment to enclose central courtyard playground. Influence by Mid-century architecture with modernist courtyard houses as domestic in scale and character to create articulation of overlapping material and finishes.
