due to its hight density built environment, new york city presents a predominant edifice typology where the natural light is supplied only by openings on its short elevations. therefore, the project longs for an innovative domestic experience in which the constant zenithal natural light and outside courtyards describe a sequence of private zinc-coated steel and public spaces that optimize people’s encounters and exchange of ideas. moreover, sheet in line with the traditional new york city’s cast iron facades an use of zinc-coated sheet allows our proposal to blend itself with the cityscape and maximise the interior rooms’ natural light.

perugia, umbria, italy
a nowadays tendency which characterizes historical Italian cities is their central part abandonment due to social, economical and urban reasons. therefore, the concept yearns for a reduction of that gap in between a contemporary society and urban pre-existences, a city as a scenario for everyday activities. furthermore, it has been defined an architectural module based on an urban sequence like city’s voids, volumes and links: the character of perugia. a module which probes and extends the idea of space, accessibility with its circular shape, flexibility and adaptability by its different way of aggregation and decomposition. on the other hand, materials have been chosen in line with a need of sustainability in fact they are 100 % recyclable, easy transportation and assembly. consequently, the city space is an extension of the urban tissue, an elemental environment that becomes, during the night, a diffuse point of reference of perugia, a bright lantern, a plastic object in a strong relationship with the wind so with the site.

a new paris the project area occupies a heterogeneous and a no-quality part of paris which is defined by porte des ternes, boulevard pershing and porte maillot. therefore, boulevard peripherique is the main fact of the site. on the other hand, one of the “grands projets” of paris completed les batignolles, a close district, by including a big public park so our proposal which is in line with that idea gives back a natural environment to french citizens. in fact, the “mille arbres”, in addition to new public and private facilities, creates two big green areas: one on the urban layer by reducing its footprint on the ground and the other on the roof layer by designing a residential village which floats in the vegetation that works as a social medium and a pleasure for the human senses.

wuyi square, changsha, hunan, china
the wuyi square, terminal of all the subway lines, is the main urban space in changsha. the client has asked to redevelop a new facade system of an existing building which faces to the plaza. the design draws inspiration from a chinese architectural element, in particular chinese traditional windows. on the other hand, the new elevation has to behave as a medium of communication for the brand. the new scheme keeps the protective function of chinese traditional windows (hua chuang) but reinterprets the geometric pattern by introducing the brand’s logo. therefore, construction drawings have been developed and the construction site has been directly checked by daily visits.

the new acropolis museum acropolis of athens, athens, greece
the new acropolis museum is based on the constantinos apostolou dioxiadis’s theory which describes the generation of the acropolis architecture. in fact, the museum defines a balance in between a contemporary architecture and a historical aspect that has to be preserved and valued. consequently, volumes and plans are the classical acropolis’s volumes and plans but materials, building techniques and interiors express the state of being contemporary. furthermore, the nam is made of a pavilions’ system sited along the “via sacra” which allows a visitor to experience the whole acropolis of athens as an open-air|diffused museum. therefore, exhibitions are in the sanctuary of artemis brauronia pavilion, the chalkotheke pavilion, the sanctuary of pandion pavilion, the sanctuary of zeus polieus pavilion. on the other hand, the arrephorion pavilion is a cafe and the north-east pavilion is a bookshop. lastly, it was studied a removable building method due to the importance of the area. 1 2 3

the western wall plaza is characterized by different typologies of flows: citizens, tourists and faithfuls. therefore, it is lost a spiritual factor which a person must mature during an approaching process to a holy site. moreover, that feeling is marked due to an urban space which is distended, does not have defined boundaries and filters. consequently, it has been conceived an “urban scenic designs system” that allows the square to keep its original entrances and manage the urban space sequence by a new volumetric relationship in between the original entryways and the new confines. furthermore, the facades create new spaces with different use like a new museum. they have proportions and rhythm of the roman cardo which is the main important archeological ruin in the site. in addition, their height and permeability have been studied to preserve a strong visual link with the western wall. in particular, the aim is a promenade that allows visitors to start from a contemporary level, reach and experience the archeological site by a ramp. at later stage, it is possible to get back to the contemporary level by passing through a sequence of permanent and temporary exhibitions. the “new urban scenic design” contrasts with a static nature of the western wall thanks to a module flexibility, a sun shading facade system that is made of overlaid hexagonal jerusalem limestone fins of different dimensions which allows the natural light to enter and interrupt the continuity, heaviness and divisional nature of a wall..

following the sustainable character, the re-box does not have to be a cost but a value for a site where it is placed. so it has been adopted a passive ventilation strategy: the external casing can be completely passed through by the surrounding air and in the meantime it avoids the direct sun exposure on the volume. the double roofing layer has different uses: the external one allows to accomodate semi-flexible monocrystalline solar panels and protecting by the rain. therefore the interior layer can have openings which 0

largo di torre argentina is a square, that hosts four republican roman temples and the remains of pompey’s theatre. the holy area was brought to light when it was decided to recostruct part of rome demolishing that zone in 1927. it became an archaeological area in 1929, when benito mussolini wanted to build the foro argentina which was designed by antonio muňoz. the area sacra museum links all those layers that history put together. as it is shown in the schemes, it is started from filling the urban void left by foro argentina with the reconstruction of the block | shelter which protects the archaeological site beneath. that block has been split in four different volumes with different heights which shows the interplay between the new shelter and the existing four republican roman temples that have their own height and holy boundary. then, that new four volumes are moved each other getting the relationship with the conteporary urban tissue. the new facades are made by trasparent cement. during the day it allows diffused natural illumination avoiding an excessive increase of interior temperature. during the night, inside lighting allows to the museum becoming a new point of reference of the zone. visitors can experience the archaelogical site through a flow that shows the most important events which characterized largo di torre argentina. starting from the contemporary layer, thanks to a ramp, it is possible to pass through the muňoz’s porch and to reach the roman layer. here, a visitor can walk through the porticus minucia, hecatostylum and pompey’s theatre as in ancient time. only after a person can get back at the contemporary level. along that path there are three different temporary exhibitions which fo-cus on specific topics and a multimedia room where there are interactive games for children and adults.

after an historical research among several canopo’s reconstructions that had been drawn by famous architects, it is revoked a perspective view which is suggested by luigi canina’s drawing. the theatre is composed by two different blocks. in the first one on the left, it is possible finding a ticket office and seats for audience. the second block on the right represents the scenic design where in its back there are changing rooms for actors. the stage floats on the canopo’s water and it can be moved along it, allowing different scenes required by different types of shows.

maghtab is an agricultural community which is close to a decommissioned landfill that will be converted into a park and nature preserve. maghtab is characterised by a confused existing land use, thanks to the scheme, it is possible to understand that activities of different spheres have grown one next to each other along a road without a public area. moreover, the road network presents different users like light or weight vehicles, horses, motorcycles or bicycle and pedestrians. therefore, it is not able to manage a wide range of transportation systems expecially in the morning and late afternoon because workers use that road network as shortcut between two nasciaro main roads.

urban development is based on the agricultural and religious community identity. the reusing of abandoned warehouses, animal husbandries and the reallocating of existing construction companies as a low impact and sustainable industries, that allows the creation of a public, research and cultural area. adding the improving of local agricultural goods trade with dedicated shops and transportation system with park and ride areas and a hybrid track for bikes and horses which allows to divide different types of users and reducing traditional transportation. furthermore in line with the idea of the future convertion of the landfill, maghtab will be a gather of visitors with the required facilities like agriturism and activities like theatre and experiencing agriculture. sustainable will be also the housing growth always in interplay with agricultural activities and green areas.

via torresi area is already characterised by a confused mixed-use program, where activities from different sphere have a wrong interplay, connecting flows avoids a right use of spaces by the citizens and workers. moreover, a historical research has emerged that there was a strong decrease of green areas during the last 80 years. we have started from an urban table’s concept, where objects with different functions are placed and it also is a means for sharing informations and experiences. consequently, we have kept all the existing activities and converted two abandoned warehouses in a museum of local art. the mixed-use existing program has been re-organized in different layers, where the top level is a public garden and the low one is a parking area, with new vertical and orizontal flows protected by the traffic congestion. via torresi is part of an already consolidated urban fabric. therefore its residential layer follows the existing residential tissue, the new public plaza in perspective relation with the new piazza d’armi complex. furthermore, the area is close to an important crossroad so, after the study of surrounding buildings’ heights, we have included a vertical focal point. different material shows the different use of the space, colorful surfaces are consequence of a sophisticated relationship with the colors of the buildings that characterize the peripheral block.
