The theme of my first project is an exercise of understanding architectural form (definitions, orientation, expression, spatial relations and the principles of composition). The shape of the architectural object will generate a covered space, a shelter which the students can choose where to position it. Thus, the chosen ground for this project is Herastrau Park, the biggest park in Bucharest where a lot of activities go on. The proposed space will provide two functions: a shelter for boats (boat house), on the lake; and an open air stage orientated towards the promenade. The structure is made by plywood, partially suspended over the water, on a foundation of concrete. The boat house will be supported by a triangulated wooden structure and covered with planking which will also serve as stepped row of seats for relaxation. This covered space for boats will be connected to the shore by a wooden walkway.

5th year of studies site: Politehnica programme: office tower coordinateur: prof. arch. Petru Gheorghiu

The site of this project is on a old industrial zone, now in reconversion. Thus, it is near the Politehnique university campus, the Mall Afi Cotroceni and many public points of transport. Just nearby there are parks that serves, one the campus and the other the university buildings. So I consider the position of the tower can be a source of urban regeneration. With the main acceses from the very imporntant street around, the tower propose a demisol with a cafeteria for the employees, un ground floor with a bank branch, little shops, a restaurant and other public services. The structure is in metal and the geometry of the form it is a signal point for the area. Also the form is a structural challenge, considering the seismic background of the city. The tower proposed aimed to be a connection between the fluidity of the nature and the dynamic of the city.

site evolution and heritage values

The site I chose for my graduation project is in the city of Sibiu, the most important ethnic German city. The city was born at the end of the 12th century and has been a regional center for traditional crafts. Outside the fortification area, cores of industrial activity appeared which in time were engulfed by the urban development and today have quite a central position in the city.

In 2007, Sibiu was the European cultural capital and ever since, the city has attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists and many festivals and cultural events are happening here every year. Apart from the cultural activities happening in Sibiu, there are many heritage buildings accessible to the public. However, there is no interactive museum in Sibiu, which people can revisit, which arouses curiosity and encourages the exploration of the old crafts and industry from the region. The site for my project is the “Independence” factory, built in 1868 and known as the first factory of agricultural machinery in Transylvania. During the communist era, the factory’s activity grew and diversified until just after the Romanian revolution in 1989, when the factory started its decline. The factory produced from sewer lids to plane components and equipment for the nuclear power plant at Cernavoda. Today, the factory site is abandoned.

the site was planned to be demolished and let place to housing buildings with a huge undergound parking.that’s why I choose to develop the museum underground, to show other approach, popping up only a few boxes to have a glimpse of the interior

The village of my grandparents was facing a new challenge, the construction of a youth center. Being attached to those places, I deciced to sketch a proposal of how I would imagine things. For the project, the city hall joined two plots, those of the actual church and primarily school. The village has a recent history being developed after 1945, once with industrialization of the area. The position of the new center would represent an opportunity for the revival of the village combined also with the integration of fonctions addressed to the locals(community meeting center, crafts and arts, workshops room). The proposed volumes follow the geometry of the site, dividing it in sequences of spaces, in which playgrounds for children have place. As usually childred see housing as an icon shape with two walls and a roof, I’ve chosen a primarily unit that would be familliar to younger users.
