STAGE 1: P1, Urban Tale... -URBAN FLOODYear 2012-2013 Teacher : C.Barto •

Urban process between Jussieu and Ivry

• First observation’s study, Going out of Paris’ boundary and analyse a journey of 4. 34 miles along the Seine. A trip crossing the historical area of Paris and the peripheral suburbs cities.

1

1 2 3 4

Study of the use of public space according to different types of areas (from the industrial area; to the secondary roadside edge along the Seine; until the new districts of Paris.) Visual and technical representation learning of our ideas and observations. Urban Shelter. Departing from a reference of a home kit, the idea was to appropriate and reverse the outline. Searching for a freedom of initiative.

The place of things? Following the urban tale an issue arises.

STAGE 1: P2, Process... -The Hollow, Game of Material and Spaceyear 2011-2012 Teachers : V.Didelon, E.Sammuel

•

Formulate an idea of the hollow using the clay, the card stock and the wood stick.

•

The hollow is the result of the material distortion. Creating on the one hand a volume of space and on the other hand causing a loss.

1

Process leading to creation of a living space. The subtracting of matter creates the hollow. This subtracting allows the creation of an other space...

2

Creation of spaces and attitudes

3

Standardised representation of a chimeric place. Using the architecture tools to a subject based on a philosophical topic.

STAGE 1: -Worker Internship Year 2012-2013

Took place in MERRIGUET-CARRERE workshop. •

Observing and taking part in several kind of trades, having in charge the renovation of a heritage building, such as a musuem, a private mansion or some luxurious yacht.

In an interval of two weeks, I discovered and assisted at the workshop in Saint Paul district and then at Hotel Lambert on Saint Louis Island at the centre of the historic center of Paris. During this internship, I discoverd how differents stages of a larger construction site as the one of Hotel Lambert, take place. But also, how the different trades and the shifts between craftsmen interact. I also became aware of the hierarchy within a construction site, the trouble and everything else that comes with it ( between the project manager and the craftsman).

STAGE 2: -P3, Materialization and StructureYear 2013-2014 Teacher : X. Fabre

Creation of a restaurant. A project more targeted on structural study and space programming.

The project’s first focus is to consider a choice of location between Champs Elysée and the Concorde. A free choice for a first project imagined in existing location. A personnal choice of the location: to rework the landscape and to be in line with the place. That is why it is a project focused on the building, its structure and layout. My study is focused on a park between the Grand Palais and the Théatre du Rond-Point. It is a park which is poorly visited despite its favourable location which is both close to Champs Elysée and near the green space.

STAGE 2: -Intensive program : Machine Vision Year 2013-2014 Teachers : Felix Agid, Tristan Gobin

• The aim of this intensive program is to create a process, an approach which can be automate using the software Grasshopper.

1

Our work was to develop a program which may be used on a multitude of pictures.

2

The simplification of the picture, then the creation of layers, programed to work on a multitude of pictures having certain criteria.

3

The process was to create a volume, and an infinite land based on the volume revealed on any pictures.

STAGE 2:

-P4 Housing in question Year 2012-2013

Teacher : F. Magendie •

First approach of housing. Site prescribed near Parc de la Vilette. Some individual work and some group work with 2 or 4 neighbouring plots.

Work between Paris density and the park de la Vilette florescence. Several steps bring us to the full building construction.

1

2

3

Creation of a simple family or shared flats. A Scenario which allows to design a singular flat. Considaration of a building of several floors on a narrow and long plot. Work on the planning having in mind the direct sunlight. Asking the question the importance of the planning and theopportunities it brings.

Beginning of the project on site. Creation of a dwelling having characteristic activities on ground floor and a double heighted appartment. My attempt was to provide in diversified programmes an accomodation quality in the planning as in bringing an exterior space and with a straight daylight in as many rooms as possible. Creation of singular ‘‘pavillions’’ in a vertical building construction.

STAGE 2:

- Architectural firm internship Year 2014

Within the Actio Architecture firm First approach of my study in professional area. This internsip of 3 months allowed me to take part in different stages of projects some of which we had already practiced in school and some not. Since the firm was working mainly on the medicosocial field, I experienced the complexity of working in a specialised field for the architect. I took part in the workplace of health care, in the ÂŤarchitect villageÂť center. But also by visiting construction sites or by my involvement each morning at the office meeting with all the co-workers. I was also on the creation of the consultation file (DCE) or on some competition file.

STAGE 3: -Intensive program, Digital design literacy YEAR 2013- 2014

Teacher : Minh Man Nguyen The aim of this exercice was to design an adaptable surface with Grasshopper software. Then, the complex surfaces were divided for their conception into simple action. Grasshopper enables that each action can see those parameters modified. Each parameter’s modification affects the whole geometry. When we change the distance between building lines, lines assigned to points follow those distances. Next problem is the physical realisation of the whole. We had to think about the way to recreate the cardboard thickness and assembly system. We only had to create notches at the facets intersections.

STAGE 3:

P5 , Plural City, Peripheral Vision

Green divide ; Third landscape fabrication Year 2014-2015

Teachers: S.Planchez, A.BossĂŠ Following an analysis of the commercial and industrial area at the north-west Champigny, we saw an eschate area in the centre of the Grand Paris project. We decided to locate our project where three relocated industrial buildings and a wastland of the VDO (Voie desserte Orientale), a poject of an abandonned desserted road (for 35 years) crossing the heart of the district, were. To respond to the problem of relationship of the place, we worked on the buildings transparency as a greenhouse keeping the industrial typology. The creation of sport activities in the heart of an area combining employee and inhabitant. Enhancing of the landscape by the greenhouse and pushing forward the third landscape in one directed and crossing evolving space.

Material Introduction Year 2014-2015

Teachers: A. Bical, S.Chardonnet

As part of the semester’s problematising important current questions of ecology, we explored the nature park of Vallée de Chevreuse to think about our last undergraduate project. We were in particular in Orsay university campus , soon Saclay campus. The place property was to be a protected green site. It connects parts of different altitutes of the campus by slopes and uneven wooden paths. We had an important programme to develop, a large number of housing to create; some activity areas, public spaces and trades, etc, while integrating a logical mean of travel allowing soft and innovative transportation. We decided to set up in the slope connecting the two universitary campuses. The idea was both to challlenge the slope which is not accessible to students, scientist and inhabitants. The challenge was to imagine a housing object having logical contribution to the field handled. (Those rules were in the order of the limits imposed by ourselves within the workgroup). Including a minimum of hold on the wooden area, of moderate size and a logic with the slope.

POSTGRADUATE 1:

P7 , ‘‘NO IDEA BUT IN THINGS’’

Year 2015-2016

Teachers: P. David, A. Wilson In the mindset of an investigation we took the side of a drift along the Seine. With only landmark the Seine, we had to develop our own vision of the ‘‘ideal city’’. Two very vague instructions were urging us to find a site, interpreting the map, something which was urging us to reassess ourself on the ‘‘state of things’’, and on what we would like to do (intervention) and for who. With this background we discovered and analysed the outskirts of the Seine. I quickly focused on a portion of the Seine having for special aspect to be close to Paris without the fluidity of the the public transport. The portion of Saint-Cloud, Suresnes et Rueil-Malmaison. It has to have an important slope, from 30 to 103 yards. Then it is a hardly passable area apart from motor transport. As such I questioned the movement issue for impact analyse. Inspired by ‘‘Utopia’’, I quickly launch on a solution to cross cities slope between The Seine sections. The idea of an aqueduct giving a soft and clean transition priority was a sort of ideal. Trying to understand how to design an ambitious ideal within cities having an urban level as advanced. I quickly understood that the real question was to undesrtand the cities and their urbanization. Then I realized the complexity and impossibility to cross the distance between the idea and the fulfilment in this idea to cross the cities slope. It questioned the friction within the city and all those interactions I come across on my bicyclecrossing the territory.

POSTGRADUATE 1: INTENSIVE PROGRAMMME ‘‘WALL OF FAME’’ year 2015-2016 Teacher : P. Morel

The subject of this intensive programme was, the process opitmization in the pieces of metal for the creation of a 3D printed wall. This intensive programme was planned in the context of an exhibition organized by Epma in October 2016, WorldPM2016. They have launched a long season of Workshops which will take place during the next months for the creation of a metal wall. The optimization, in our project, involved the designing of nodes of the wall structure for an optimal rendering, in terms of material saving and consequently, printing cost saving. Printing such nodes having a cost so expensive, much more than with a machined nodes, it is necessary to have a logical and full process for the use of a 3D metal

1

Our intensive week was oriented towards learning the optimization principle, using softwares like Inspire on pieces created in 3D software like Rhino. Inspire is a software allowing stress application on pieces or nodes. Then, Inspire software computes nodes opitmization removing useless material, receiving no stress. Those opitimized pieces are worked on Rhino software to be smoothed. Finally we worked on a last software to repare some aspect of nodes to be perfectly smooth at the reading. This last action allowed us to send a perfect piece for the printing.
