Master in Architecture (MArch) Urban Design Dissertation The Grand Canal – The Architecture of Water and Resistance The project investigates how the conflict between Israel and Palestine can be traced through a history of water disputes. The project argues that water itself is a medium of conflict that is weaponised for land appropriation in the occupied areas of the West Bank. We propose a new system to transport water for agriculture in each Palestinian archipelago.

View of the reservoir and school fields from the main entrance together with experimental fields stretching between reservoir and river.
The project explores a series of water systems that have been used in arid climates and the significance and symbolic meaning of water in Islamic culture. The proposed buildings uses water as a form to create collective spaces. The idea of an agricultural school is to celebrate the existence of water in a community. The design idea is to integrate architecture with water infrastructure and landscape. Rooms are cut into ground, making a clear contrast with topography.

Winter Garden Pavilion Competition The Woven Vision In partnership with National Trust and Dunham Massey. Inspired by the natural environment Woven Vision both accentuates and compliments its surroundings. Situated underneath these trees, it appears to grow out of the ground and merge with its environment as though this has been the case of centuries. The form was inspired by the beech nut shells and the structure begat from cyclamen flowers. The woven willow branches allow dappled light to seep through the structure, mirroring that of shadows cast by the tree canopy above. Woven Vision act as a meeting point, a landmark for visitors, one that will hopefully by around for years to come.
