Community Education offers personal enrichment opportunities to learners across the lifecourse. Class offerings include language and writing, recreation and dance, computers and technology, fitness and health, music and art, and more.

Driver Education courses are approved by the Oregon Department of Traffic Safety Division and utilize their curriculum. Classes include permit preparation, teen driver education, AARP driver safety, motorcycle safety, tractor safety, and forklift training.

Corporate Training and Professional Development

Trainers listen to your needs and help you develop solid learning outcomes. This approach customizes training to the needs of your organization. From soft skills to supervisory training to leadership development, we can develop your staff.

Small Business Development Center

For new and existing business owners, SBDC provides expert advice and resources to start, grow, or scale up a business. Offerings include free business advising and workshops designed for business owners. Topics include marketing, sales, website and SEO, Quickbooks, developing a business plan, and more.

Linn-Benton Fire Training Council

Made up of representatives from Linn and Benton Counties, the Council works in conjunction with Extended Learning to discuss training or resources needed for firefighters and training officers.

SMALLBUSINESS BUSINESSDEVELOPMENT DEVELOPMENTCENTER CENTER SMALL Foundations of Business Success Taught by Stephen Fuller

Learn how to create and assess a business plan for a start-up or new business. Topics include financial management, pricing, cash flow, marketing, sales, legal topics, insurance needs, bookkeeping systems, and market research. One-on-one advising included. Orientation is Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. on Albany Campus. Class meets for 10 weeks starting Jan. 15 from 6-9 p.m. Registration is $349. Early registration discount by Dec. 14. Scholarships may be available.

Small Business Management (SBM) Taught by George Medellin and Marlene Peterson

SBM is a result-oriented program for established business owners. Program is designed to expose you to new ideas and help you discover ways to successfully grow your business. Meets once a month for nine months at the Lebanon Center. Orientation is Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. First session begins Jan. 15. Registration is $750, with a $100 discount if registered by Dec. 14 or if you are a Chamber of Commerce or Downtown Association member. Scholarships may be available.

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER How to Form an LLC in Oregon Taught by Stephen Fuller

Learn how to register your LLC with the State of Oregon. Class will guide you screen by screen through the State of Oregon Registration Process and the correct answers to each question you are asked. Topics include your articles of organization, registered agent, securing a Federal Identification Number, and obtaining a bank account and an operating agreement. Meets Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 6-9 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $49.

Becoming a Boomerpreneur Taught by Sebastian de Assis

Learn what factors those over the age of 50 should consider when starting a business. This workshop is designed to help you envision the roadmap to your start-up, leading to your small business aspirations. Meets Friday, Feb. 1, from 1-4 p.m. at the Benton Center. Registration is $49.

Guided Tour of QuickBooks Taught by Jackie Shaw

This four-hour course is for those who have no previous experience using a computer-based accounting system. In a computer lab, you will learn to open the QuickBooks application and to maneuver through its various functions. Meets Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Thursday, Feb 14, from 3-5 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $89.

QuickBooks 1 Taught by Jackie Shaw

This 10-hour course is designed to provide you with the scope of capabilities available in QuickBooks. You will be introduced to basic functions including chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, financial management glossary, customizing and using reports, and more. Previous exposure to computerbased accounting is recommended. Meets for five sessions on Tuesdays starting Feb. 19 from 3-5 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $219.

Pre-License Training Real Estate Broker Taught by Donna Jo Merrifield

An accelerated pre-license course to prepare you for the Oregon Real Estate Brokers License Exam, this is the fastest way to qualify for the exam. Students are expected to have online capability, to self study, to attend all class sessions, and to attend a 9-5 study session on Saturday, March 16. Meets Wednesdays for 10 weeks starting Jan. 9 from 6-9 p.m. on Albany Campus. Registration is $650.

Designed for those interested in managing rental property, complete the State of Oregon requirements in just seven weeks! This hybrid course combines live lectures with online study to meet the 60-hour requirement for the Oregon Property Manager Pre-License Course.

For pesticide application on public or commercial property. Take both sessions to prepare for the licensing exam, or take one session for Education Credit.

Meets Thursdays for seven weeks from 6-9 p.m. starting Jan. 10 on Albany Campus. Registration is $550.

Oregon Construction Contractor–CCB Taught by Joe DeMarzo

Class covers what you need to know to pass the Oregon Construction Contractors Board requirements in compliance with ORS 701.280. Instruction includes 80 questions in a practice exam plus tips on how to best prepare and take the State of Oregon exam. Manual included. Meets Tuesday and Thursday for two weeks starting Feb. 19 from 6-10 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Registration is $329.

CPR Certification AHA Basic Life Support CPR This 1-day course in American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support CPR is designed for those looking to earn a non-credit, nonhealthcare track CPR certification. Those who complete this course earn a CPR certification card valid for two years. Classes held on the first Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Registration is $60.

Online Learning Modules Modules are non-credit and designed to provide a basic introduction to each topic. Each module is self-paced, designed to be completed in one hour or less.

Constructive Feedback 101

Any organization or person who works in or with the healthcare industry should obtain training for HIPAA awareness. Module will introduce HIPAA compliance and the steps to take in order to protect sensitive information.

Learn how to apply given feedback and improve your contribution to the team, making for better overall communication. Module is designed to help you improve giving and receiving feedback.

Cultural Competency 101

Leadership 101

Learn to work with people of varied backgrounds, cultures, and orientations. Module is designed to introduce you to the circumstances that help shape individuals and how you can apply that knowledge to work more effectively with people different than you.

Community Education

Prose Writing Workshop Bring your writing to this supportive critique group and improve through tailored writing exercises. Whether for publication or family, this class is perfect for all skill levels. Produce works of literary fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, and all other genres of fiction of any length. Registration is $79. Meets on Tuesdays for eight weeks starting Jan. 8 from 7-8:50 p.m. at the Benton Center.

Fearless Public Speaking This workshop is based on instructor Donn Rochlin’s book "Fearless Public Speaking," and is designed for anyone challenged or terrified at the prospect of giving public presentations. Workshop is designed to shed some light on the fear and panic experienced by millions of people who get anxiety in front of crowds. Registration is $79. Meets Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the Corvallis Foundry.

Internet Selling Strategies Taught by Dan Crall, a top-rated seller on eBay for over five years, class focuses on selling online in avenues such as eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. Explore the best options for those who are current or future online sellers. Class serves as an idea discussion group for people with no shortage of ideas relating to eCommerce entrepreneurship. Registration is $59. Meets on Tuesdays for four weeks starting Jan. 8 from 6-7:50 p.m. at the Sweet Home Center, or on Tuesdays starting Feb. 5 from 6-7:50 p.m. at the Lebanon Center.

Self Publishing on Amazon We will use either a short piece developed in class or your finished manuscript to discuss the business side of publishing and selling yourself. By the end of the class, you’ll have everything you need to be successful publishing and selling on Amazon. Registration is $99. Meets on Thursdays for eight weeks starting Jan. 10, from 7 to 8:50 p.m. at the Benton Center.
