Hey Keyclubbers!
Finals are almost here! I hope that everyone is studying hard and that y'all are looking forward to winter break. The ice skating social is coming up soon, so I hope I can see you all there. If you have a group of 10 then you can get tickets for 3$ per person. I went to the Kiwanis Christmas Parade and I was so excited to see everyone who volunteered. We had lots of fun handing out candy to children and I hope I can see y'all volunteer at the food bank! Until next month! -Al Wong The Trojan Talk | Page 2
Message from the President Hello Key Club I hope everyone is doing well! It is crazy to think that this school year is almost halfway over. As the semester comes to a close, it can be easy to get caught up in the stresses of finals and grades and maintaining good standing in all your clubs; however, don’t forget to maintain perspective. Look back on this semester and remember all that you have learned and accomplished. As a club, we have done an amazing job giving back to our community and I am so proud. Keep up the amazing work through the end of December, and into the new year! Additionally, I hope you all enjoy your winter break! And don’t forget to come to the Key Club social this Friday, December 9!
-Thank you all, Noah Pursell The Trojan Talk | Page 3
Hunger Elimination
By: Bryanna Kirha
Hunger Elimination is a prevalent and important cause that is affecting communities all across the world, with more than 820 million people suffering from hunger and being undernourished. Even making a small contribution is significant to the cause and can make a difference. As a board member, I hope to do my best to provide events or volunteer opportunities in which Key Club members can contribute to eliminating hunger in our community. With Covid, it has put restrictions on the number of people that can volunteer due to safety concerns at food banks and other organizations. However, events such as food drives in which we collect food to be donated to organizations also allow us to contribute to the cause. Recently, in November, Key Club helped the food drive for the Jenks Food Bank that was sponsored by DECA. I have been reaching to food banks and looking for opportunities that Key Club members can help with such as volunteering or donating food. Although this is my first year as a board member, I hope to give my members as many opportunities as possible as I know they are more than ready to help our community. The Trojan Talk | Page 4

My Key Club Journey By: Emily Weins
I became a Key Club member my freshman year of high school. I didn’t know much about it at first except that they volunteered around the community. I loved volunteering so I knew it would be right up my alley. I was very involved in service projects all throughout my freshman and sophomore year. Key Club gave so many opportunities to serve in the community. During my Junior year, the Jenks Key Club president was in my science class and said I would be a great fit to be a board member. This made me so excited as I was looking to be more involved in the club. I became the board member for kids to kids West. I am in charge of putting together service projects at Jenks West Elementary and intermediate. Being a board member last year was pretty different and difficult due to the pandemic. Although, I was able to put together a couple of service opportunities and it was a blast knowing I was a key part of some volunteering projects. I was so excited this year to be the board member for Jenks West again. I know this year will be an amazing year for service and am looking forward to seeing the difference Key Club makes in the community. The Trojan Talk | Page 6
