With Buddies
Books with Buddies is a potential volunteer opportunity. High school students would read with students from Jenks West Intermediate before school (as of now, 7:45 - 8:15, but this may change) once a week. Additionally, we would like for students to volunteer consistently for several weeks.

Letter from the Editor Hey Keyclubbers! Gong xi fa cai! That means Happy New Year in Chinese! This year is the year of the tiger so I hope everyone has a great year of the tiger! We also have officer applications open this month so don't forget to apply, I can't wait to see everyone's speech and who gets elected. Also, keep an eye out for more volunteering opportunities because the Big Event is coming up soon and we hope to see you there serving the community! Until next month! -Al Wong The Trojan Talk | Page 3
Message from the President Hello Key Club, I hope everyone is staying warm and safe during this time. As many of you may have seen, officer applications are now open! Being a Key Club Officer is such a great opportunity, and I encourage everyone who is interested to apply. For me, being an officer has allowed me to make a bigger impact in areas that I am passionate about. I am able to work with others in determining what goals the Jenks Key Club pursues, and then meet them. If you are passionate about making the world around you a better place, being an officer will allow you to do that. As always, thank you all for your amazing service!
-Thank you, and stay safe The Trojan Talk | Page 4
Faith Based
By: Mi'lea Tackett
Despite me not being a part of Jenks Key club last year I had got a chance to really see more of what this club is all about, especially since I was one of those scholars less than five months ago asking the inquisitive question, “Does key club make keys?” Of course, they don’t make keys, they do something more important. For instance, the multiple different service projects included in Jenks Key Club allows us to not just have a greater impact on the community but also have the ability for members to participate in activities and group events while also developing growing relationships. As I am the board member of Faith-Based I got to learn that these statements are increasingly true. As I discovered, Faith-based is a board project that doesn’t just help churches make a difference in the communities around them but also provides service to the churches that need it. Faith-based, as I realized, also provides a chance for people to get a view into what churches do for the community besides providing religious preachings and services. Overall, Faith-Based is a project where members can learn more about the churches in their community while also having a fun way to provide service and learn important traits like caring, character-building, and inclusiveness. All in all, I haven’t been a board member for long, but I am glad that I had got a chance to be a part of this experience and to not just make a difference for the people around me but also learn a little more about what It is to be a Jenks key club member and help other members learn that too.

Falling in Love With 2022 By: Mercy Kim
Ever since the COVID pandemic broke out in 2020, the world has never and will never be the same as how we picture it in our childhood. However, there are still many things that remained constant in our lives, and one of them is Key Club. As a proud member of Key Club, I decided to apply to be the board member of the library, but the journey was much harder than I had expected. Because of COVID, there were hardly any libraries offering volunteering opportunities, yet many people did what was offered, which is a brilliant deed. Thankfully, the restrictions due to Covid had eased since then, and I can find some volunteering opportunities. One event occurred last semester, and it was through Book Mobile. The volunteers were excited to help out for a great cause, and they performed an amazing job. Not only that, the teachers were extremely thankful that some Key Club members were able to help them out when they desperately needed the help. Due to that event, they were able to make rounds around neighborhoods and give away books to children in need of them. There are some volunteering opportunities still available, such as the one offered by the Tulsa City-County Library. In summary, you compose recommendations and post them publicly to get the service hours. If you want more information, check out the library posts on the Key Club website. Another service opportunity is helping out at the Jenks East Intermediate media center. They need volunteers to help shelve books until about 9 am and the circulation desk help especially from 7:30 to 9, and 1-2:30. More information can be found on previous posts made under the library section. Thank you for reading this, and let’s continue to energetically volunteer with our utmost attitude.
