PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

Dear Sisters and Friends of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, It is time again for Alpha Sigma Taus from across the country to come together to celebrate our exceptional Sisterhood. On behalf of the National Council, Headquarters Staff, volunteer leaders, vendors, and friends of the Sorority, welcome to the 42nd National Convention of Alpha Sigma Tau in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Whether this is your first National Convention or you have attended many conventions, we will all have the same opportunity to create connections with new Sisters as well as reconnect with Sisters we have known for years. During this National Convention, you will have even more opportunities to enjoy the company of our Sisters and reflect on the lifelong friendships and support Sisterhood brings. These events include Thursday’s evening out to PNC Park and Saturday’s Pittsburgh Excursions. We’ll take pride in each other’s achievements during the Women’s Leadership Luncheon and enjoy each other’s fellowship during the famous Yellow Rose Banquet as well as other sessions. If you are a voting delegate, you will have the chance to help make leadership decisions that will impact our Sisterhood for not only the coming 2018-2020 biennium, but for many years to come. You will elect the national leadership for the next two years, vote on proposed revisions to our Sorority’s Bylaws and Standing

Rules, and participate in time-honored traditions like the officer installation service. The next four days of your life are going to be action-packed, so I hope you came ready to be inspired and celebrate who we are as members of Alpha Sigma Tau and the meaning of our Sisterhood. The Alpha Sigma Tau National Convention is a unique Sisterhood experience that fills me with enthusiasm and pride for our Sorority. I am sure this will be true for you too. My call to action of each of you is very simple, enjoy every moment and experience that the convention has to offer. Connect with your Sisters and I promise you will depart Pittsburgh with pride in yourself, your Sisters, and your Sorority and excited to return in 2020! Marquis C Sisterhood is a key component of the Alpha Sigma Tau experience, and perhaps what brought many attendees to the National Convention. The presenters, who both serve as Class Facilitators, will share some of their favorite activities and discuss the positive changes they’ve experienced in their chapter since introducing the Illuminate program. Marquis B Join the Epsilon Beta and Psi chapters for the following 25-minute session: Stand Up, Stand Together, Not Anymore, Epsilon Sigma Chapter Epsilon Sigma has been able to use Not Anymore as a tool to grow closer as Sisters and to connect with other members of the campus community. Not Anymore helped the chapter find a new way to discuss sexual violence and sexual assault on campus and in the community, which led to more empathetic members and a stronger Sisterhood. In this session, participants will acquire tips on how to successfully implement Not Anymore and connect the program to their chapter and campus community. Academics First! Improving Overall Chapter Academic Performance, Epsilon Rho Chapter Academic success is one of the most important values for the Epsilon Rho Chapter at SUNY Geneseo, but the chapter GPA wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t always a positive reflection of that value. Presenters will discuss how their chapter went from having the lowest GPA among the campusâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; sororities to being ranked number one in just one year. As a chapter that strives to constantly improve, do better, and work smarter, they worked to use new tools and techniques to increase their GPA. Participants will learn and be able to replicate the techniques used by the Epsilon Rho Chapter to promote academic success.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Women’s Leadership Luncheon Speaker: Joi Gordon, CEO, Dress for Success Worldwide Joi joined Dress for Success in 1999 and took over leadership of Dress for Success Worldwide® in 2002. Under Joi’s leadership, Dress for Success Worldwide has expanded from a singular brick and mortar location in Manhattan to a global entity, spanning across 160 cities in 27 countries and serving over one million women by giving them the tools they need to achieve lifelong economic independence. Not only has she expanded the organization geographically, but programmatically as wellproviding our women with a plethora of programming at all points of their employment development cycle. MEET OUR SPEAKERS Ashley Accardo, Psi Ashley currently serves as the Chapter President of the Psi Chapter at James Madison University and has previously held a position as the Director of Public Relations. In her roles, Ashley has gained time management skills and a greater appreciation for her chapter and the Sisters who make it so special. This past fall, Ashley was a First-Year Orientation Guide for 29 first-year students during Orientation week - she loves seeing them all over campus! She was also a Rho Gamma for Formal Sorority Recruitment and is overjoyed whenever she sees potential new members making strides in the sorority community. Ashley is studying communications, with a focus in public relations. She loves spending time with her family and her sisters, sketching, and a fun series on Netflix.

Jessa Albert, Delta Upsilon Jessa is a Growth Specialist on the Alpha Sigma Tau Headquarters Team. She is from the Delta Upsilon Chapter at Saint Leo University. Jessa enjoys working with chapters to help create year-round recruitment plans and brainstorming new ideas to help improve chapter growth culture.

Kristin Agee, Beta Eta Kristin currently serves as Chapter President of the Beta Eta Chapter at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). She previously held the position of Director of Structured Recruitment. Through her roles, she has become a leader in her chapter and has worked to improve the safety of their events. Kristin is also involved in Order of Omega and Pre-Physical Therapy Association on her campus. She is a junior in the exercise science program at SIUE and hopes to go to graduate school to study physical therapy after graduation. Kristin enjoys baking chocolate chip cookies and watching Greyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Anatomy on Netflix while snuggled up with her puppy.

Emily Boockoff, Epsilon Sigma Emily joined the Alpha Sigma Tau Headquarters Staff following her graduation from Bridgewater State University in 2016. There, she joined the Epsilon Sigma Chapter and graduated with a degree in early childhood education, as well as English. She served as an Educational Consultant on staff for two years and recently transitioned into her new role as a Chapter Services Specialist.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Nicole Ball, Sigma Nicole was initiated into the Sigma Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau in November 1998, where she served as Treasurer and Chapter President. After graduating in 2003, she worked as a customer service and inside sales rep at Motion Concepts, a manufacturer of power rehab wheelchair systems. She has since worked her way up to her current position as co-manager of her department. Also, right after graduation, Nicole joined the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter, There, she served as Alumnae Historian, Ways & Means Chair, Membership Chair, and Alumnae Chapter President and currently serves as Alumnae Activities Chairperson. She has also served on Sigma’s Chapter Advisory Board. She got married in 2004 and is the proud mother of two little legacies to Alpha Sigma Tau. This is Nicole’s fifth National Convention

Tylar Benedetto, Epsilon Mu Tylar currently serves as Chapter President of the Epsilon Mu Chapter at SUNY University at Buffalo and has previously held the position of Vice President of Member Development. In her roles, Tylar has strived to implement new ideas and activities to create clear communications and foster chapter bonding. Tylar also works for her campus’ Undergraduate Student Association. Tylar will be a senior in the fall studying music theatre and hopes to pursue a career as a performer, and later, a choreographer. In her free time, Tylar enjoys dancing, singing along to musical soundtracks, reading Harry Potter and re-watching all of Parks and Recreation.

Angie Bong Angie serves as Associate Executive Director of Member Services for Alpha Sigma Tau, where she leads the Member Services team to provide services, support, and advancement in the areas of collegiate chapter services, membership growth, and volunteer services. Angie has a master’s degree in student development in postsecondary education from The University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Butler University. Prior to joining the Alpha Sigma Tau team, Angie worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in student services roles. Angie is a member of Alpha Phi International Fraternity. In her free time, she loves to travel, spend time at the lake, attend sporting events and concerts, and spoil her nieces and nephews.

Brittany Booth Brittany currently serves as the Assistant Director of Chapter Services. She oversees the Educational Consultant program including hiring, training, and supervision. Brittany has a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Saint Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in psychological science from Albion College. Brittany is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Susan Caban Susan is the Director of Education at NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania. Susan earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education at Carlow University. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, teacher for NAMI’s Family-to-Family Signature Education Program, and a trainer for NAMI’s In Our Own Voice and Ending the Silence recovery outreach presentations. Susan collaborates with individuals in recovery – and incorporates her personal experience with mental health challenges – to create informative presentations for professionals, educators, and family members.

Nicole Campbell Nicole is the Peer Engagement and Education Specialist at NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania and earned her bachelor of science degree in public health from Kent State University. This year, she will celebrate five years of sharing her story of living with mental health conditions as a NAMI In Our Own Voice and Ending The Silence presenter. Nicole’s work focuses on helping people who live with mental health conditions empower themselves, promoting recovery and resiliency principles, creating inclusive, culturally competent mental health programming, and working towards health equity.

Isabella Catron, Upsilon Isabella currently serves as the Vice President of Organization Development for the Upsilon Chapter at the University of Central Arkansas and has previously held positions as Co-Director of Structured Recruitment. In her roles, Isabella has had extensive event planning experience and has worked to help her chapter implement strategic risk reduction measures. Isabella is studying communication science and disorders, with a plan to get her doctorate in audiology. In her free time, Isabella enjoys teaching at a local dance studio, watching her dancers compete on the weekends, being a dogmom to Lucy Belle, and being a nanny for three girls.

Dawn DuPont, Phi Dawn is currently the Chapter President of the Phi Chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU). She has previously held the positions of Vice President of Finance and Director of Event Planning. These positions have given her the tools to conduct fun, safe, and budget-friendly events that incorporate many risk reduction measures. She is also involved in the Sports Management Association at SLU. Dawn is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in sports management, all while working two jobs. Dawn enjoys reading a good book, watching MasterChef Junior, and playing with her three dogs.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Gina Garcia, Epsilon Beta Gina Garcia currently serves as Vice President of Community Relations of the Epsilon Beta Chapter at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has previously served as Director of Philanthropy and Sophomore Class Facilitator for Illuminate. In her roles, Gina has had the opportunity to organize multiple fundraisers and events to help the chapterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s local philanthropy, Yaqui Ranch, a no-kill animal shelter, and a successful clothing drive for Dress for Success. Pursuing her degree in rehabilitation, she hopes to become an occupational therapist. She enjoys spending her free time with her Sisters, community service, and going on trips with her family.

Stephanie Garcia, Epsilon Sigma Stephanie is the current Chapter President of the Epsilon Sigma Chapter at Bridgewater State University. Upon accepting her bid, she held the position of Illuminate Freshman Class Facilitator. Since then, she has served as the Vice President of Operations, Director of Ritual, and Vice President of Member Development. Stephanie is involved in many other campus groups and on-campus jobs including Program Council, Residence Hall Association, The Bridge Partnership, New Student and Family Programs, and The National Residence Hall Honorary. She is studying elementary education and English along with a dual special education licensure program with hopes of becoming an autism specialist. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys traveling, reading, and catching up on the newest television shows.

Raya Hankin, Epsilon Sigma Raya is the Vice President of Organization Development for the Epsilon Sigma Chapter at Bridgewater State University. She has previously held the position of Secretary as well as served on both the Philanthropy Committee and Recruitment Committee. With these positions, Raya has been able to help plan Sisterhood bonding activities as well as revamp the way risk reduction is viewed in her chapter. Raya is studying elementary education and English with a minor in special education with hopes of becoming a reading specialist. In her free time, Raya enjoys spending time outdoors, either hiking or at the beach, as well as volunteering at a local cat shelter every week.

Mae Heavey, Epsilon Mu Mae has served as Director of Philanthropy and Vice President of Member Development for the Epsilon Mu Chapter at SUNY University at Buffalo. In her involvement with Alpha Sigma Tau, Mae strives to cultivate sisterhood by planning fun extracurricular events for Sisters to attend. Mae will be a senior in the fall and is studying pharmaceutical sciences. Mae also works as a research assistant in the School of Pharmacy and plans to continue her research by pursuing a Ph.D. Outside of school, Mae enjoys skiing, yoga, dance, and spending time with family.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Shauna Heinsler Jackson, Delta Alpha Shauna is a certified Jazzercise instructor and, every morning, will get your pulse racing for a jam-packed day of Convention fun! Shauna is also the Nominations Committee Chair. She was initiated as an Alpha Sigma Tau in March 1999. She has previously served the Sorority as the New Member Advisor and Chapter Advisor for the Alpha Tau Chapter, as a District President, and as a District Coordinator. Shauna was one of a group of Sisters who re-established the Erie Alumnae Chapter in 2010 and served as its President from 2014 to 2017. In addition to the Nominations Committee, she is also currently the Treasurer of the Erie Alumnae Chapter.

Alex Kennedy Alex serves Alpha Sigma Tau as a Chapter Services Coordinator. She is passionate about women’s friendship, education, and leadership. In her role, she has the chance to blend all of those together in her work with the Sorority’s four-year member development program, Illuminate. Emily Hamsher Kindred, Beta Delta Emily serves Alpha Sigma Tau as Director of Development, where she supports the Alpha Sigma Tau Foundation and is dedicated to helping her Sisters meet their philanthropic goals in a meaningful way. Emily is a proud alumna of Duquesne University, where she received a B.A. degree in corporate communication and public relations/advertising. Prior to joining Alpha Sigma Tau’s staff in 2015, she worked in a variety of development roles with health and human services organizations. Emily also served as an Educational Consultant for Alpha Sigma Tau in 2011. In her free time, Emily enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time at home with her husband and two cats.

Nadia Maddens, Theta Nadia was initiated into the Theta Chapter at Wayne State University in Detroit in 1975. She is the current President of the Detroit Metro Alumnae Chapter, where she has also served as Vice President and long-time Treasurer. She has also served as National Chaplain and Alumnae Editor of the Sorority’s membership magazine, The Anchor. Nadia has been the proud recipient of the Anchor Award and the Mary Charles Adams Ashby Convention Top Tau Award. She is married and the mother of four grown children with two grandchildren and another on the way.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Paige Modicut, Phi Paige serves as the Vice President of Operations for the Phi Chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of Housing for the semester she lived in the chapter house. She aspires to be a secondary education social studies teacher and spends most of her time studying or working at her on-campus job at the Recreation Center. For fun, Paige likes to shop, read, and spend time with her friends and family.

Andrea Mohr, Beta Eta Andrea currently serves as Vice President of Organization Development of the Beta Eta Chapter at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and has previously held positions as Director of Event Planning, Director of Music Education, and Chaplain. In her roles as Director of Event Planning and VPOD, she has worked diligently with chapter advisors and special committee members to ensure that all sponsored events are executed safely through the use of well-planned risk reduction strategies. Andrea is also the current President of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association, as well as a member of the Pi Sigma Chapter of Order of Omega on campus. She is a junior in the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology program and is also minoring in psychology. With this degree, Andrea hopes to become certified as a clinical speech pathologist. Outside of school, Andrea is a teacher at a local early childhood center. In her free time, she loves to unwind and relax by spending time outdoors, singing, dancing, or binge-watching one of her favorite Netflix series.

Hannah Nale, Gamma Rho Hannah currently serves as Chapter President of the Gamma Rho Chapter at Seton Hall University. She has previously held the positions of Vice President of Growth and Director of Collegiate Alumnae Engagement. Through Hannahâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s experience, she has turned the position of Director of Collegiate Alumnae Engagement into a more utilized position within her chapter. She has also gained extensive leadership experience while becoming a skilled recruiter. Hannah is studying social work and hopes to pursue a career working with the special needs population. In her free time, Hannah enjoys swimming, participating in Greek activities, petting/playing with dogs, and watching Parks & Recreation on Netflix.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Sami Osborn, Epsilon Rho Sami currently serves as Vice President of Member Development of the Epsilon Rho Chapter at SUNY Geneseo and has previously held the position of Director of Academic Success. In her roles, Sami has worked to improve the academic success of the Epsilon Rho Chapter and is very knowledgeable about the resources and tools this chapter utilizes for success. Sami is also involved in many other campus organizations including the Geneseo Biology Club, Geneseo Figure Skating, National Order of Omega, the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society, and the Geneseo Red Cross Club. Additionally, Sami is a biochemistry tutor for the Geneseo Athletics Department and has served as an undergraduate laboratory instructor for freshman biology labs. Sami is working towards a bachelor of science in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry on a pre-medical track. After graduation, she will be continuing her education in medical school and is currently interested in surgery.

Stephanie Pearl, Epsilon Rho Stephanie currently serves as Chapter President of the Epsilon Rho Chapter at SUNY Geneseo and has previously held the position of Vice President of Organizational Development. In her roles, Stephanie has minimized risk at chapter functions and has helped improve recruitment, new member education, and fundraising for Epsilon Rho’s local philanthropy, Haven House. Stephanie is also the President of Gestures: Organization for Deaf Awareness (GODA) and is proficient in American Sign Language. Additionally, she volunteers weekly as a campus tour guide and is a member of Order of Omega, the Greek honor society. She is studying childhood/special education and has a concentration in theatre. In the future, she hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a career in deaf education. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys re-watching episodes of Friends, eating ridiculous amounts of mac and cheese, and doing The New York Times daily crossword.

Cassandra Pershyn, Sigma Cassandra has been a member of Alpha Sigma Tau since 1998. As a Sigma collegian, she served as Director of Philanthropy, Historian, and Chapter President and was highly active in NPC. She has been part of the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter since 2008, serving as Alumnae Historian, Alumnae Chapter Vice President, and currently as Alumnae Chapter President. She has also served on Sigma’s Chapter Advisory Board. In 2009, Cassie earned her master’s degree in library science and has been working as a corporate librarian since. This is Cassie’s fourth National Convention.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Sarah Pinkerton, Delta Pi Sarah joined the Alpha Sigma Tau Headquarters Staff in the summer of 2016 after graduating from Oglethorpe University. There, she joined the Delta Pi Chapter and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biopsychology. After serving on staff as a primarily growth-focused Educational Consultant for two years, she recently transitioned into the new role of Growth Specialist.

Jenna Rhone, Psi Jenna currently serves as the Vice President of Organization Development for the Psi Chapter at James Madison University (JMU) and has previously held a position as the Director of Academic Success. In her roles, Jenna has gained leadership experience as well as event planning skills. She has implemented strategic risk reduction measures in her chapter, overseeing Tau Honor Council as well as a Risk Reduction Committee. Outside of Alpha Sigma Tau, Jenna has given her time to Overcoming Barriers, Gus Bus, the JMU Orientation offices, and Madison Union Event Services. Jenna is studying interdisciplinary liberal studies with a minor in elementary education. She hopes to pursue a career as a kindergarten teacher.

Mattie Schanandore, Upsilon Mattie currently serves as the Chapter President of the Upsilon Chapter at the University of Central Arkansas. Mattie has previously served as Outfits Chair and Co-Director of Structured Recruitment. In these roles, Mattie has had event planning experience and worked to train the chapter to recruit quality PNMs. Mattie is also involved in several campus organizations including Order of Omega, Association of Future Alumni, and Pre-Pharmacy Club. Mattie is pursuing a degree in chemistry with a minor in mathematics. She hopes to attend pharmacy school upon graduation. In her free time, Mattie enjoys binge watching her favorite TV show One Tree Hill, attending concerts with friends, and spending time with her family.

Justina Solties, Gamma Theta Justina serves Alpha Sigma Tau as a Member Engagement Coordinator. Justina is passionate about helping members connect back to the organization in a way that’s meaningful to them through engagement and volunteerism. In her role, Justina works with alumnae, volunteers, and social media. Justina, who’s been on Headquarters Staff since 2011, is an alumna of the Gamma Theta Chapter at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time at the lake, and cheering on her favorite teams.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS Ashley Smith, Psi Ashley is the Assistant Director of Growth and Extension at Alpha Sigma Tau. She graduated from James Madison University in 2012 and since then has been a part of the Alpha Sigma Tau Headquarters Team. Ashley loves recruitment because making new friends is fun and that’s the best way to recruit great new members!

Nicole Turnquist, Epsilon Alpha As one of the founding members of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University, Nicole is very proud to serve as their Chapter Advisor starting in 2013. She has also been active in the Phoenix Valley of the Sun Alumnae Association since 2012, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and now Association President. She is very happy to have the opportunity to help other women succeed in any way she can.

Sara Velasco, Epsilon Beta Sara Velasco currently serves as Chapter President of the Epsilon Beta Chapter at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has previously served as Panhellenic Delegate, Tau Honor Council Delegate, Freshmen Class Facilitator for Illuminate, and Vice President of Organization Development. In her roles, she has had opportunities to bring improvements to the Panhellenic Council, plan Sisterhood retreats, and guide and impact her Chapter Sisters’ membership experiences. Pursuing her degree in psychology, with a minor in anthropology, she hopes to one day become a clinical psychologist and change the stigmas behind mental illness. She enjoys traveling to new places, spending time with her Sisters, and learning new languages.

Kate Wehby, Gamma Xi Kate serves Alpha Sigma Tau as a Chapter Services Coordinator. Kate is passionate about women’s empowerment, building authentic connections, and inspiring others to succeed. In her role, Kate works with client chapters as well as GreekLifeEdu and Not Anymore. Kate is an alumna of the Gamma Xi Chapter at Grand Valley State University. Kate loves her cat, Elton John, and working out.

MARY CHARLES ADAMS ASHBY CONVENTION TOP TAU AWARD The Mary Charles Adams Ashby Convention Top Tau Award – named after Past National President Mary Charles Adams Ashby, Chi – is presented to a collegian and an alumna at each National Convention. The first Collegiate Convention Top Tau Award was presented in 1970 to Joanne Genova, Alpha Pi, who was also the first recipient of the Alumnae Convention Top Tau Award, which was initially presented in 1974. Vote for the 42nd National Convention Top Tau within the Convention app on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Winners will be announced during the Yellow Rose Banquet on Saturday evening.

PARTICIPANT CONDUCT AGREEMENT For National Events

National and regional events are any Alpha Sigma Tau sponsored event for members of Alpha Sigma Tau, collegiate or alumnae. These events are generally, but not limited to, National Convention or Officer Academy.

Substance Free Expectation Alpha Sigma Tau national and regional events are alcohol-free and drug-free educational programs and environments. No participant may bring or consume/use alcohol illegally or bring or consume/use illegal drugs during these events. There are NO exceptions. Violation of this policy results in expulsion from the event at oneâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s own expense and likely membership probation.

Refunds Refunds will not be granted for national or regional events. This includes cancellations before the event occurs, illness, and travel. I understand that:

I will uphold the ideals and standards of the Sorority.

I will participate in all national event activities of which I am physically able.

As a hotel guest, I will adhere to hotel regulations and Sorority policies.

I will not possess, purchase, or consume illegal drugs while visiting the hotel.

I will notify Headquarters Staff if I have a need to leave the national event for any reason.

I am responsible for transporting myself and any supplies/materials to and from the hotel.

I will be responsible for payment of any damages to the hotel.

I understand that should I behave in a manner that is not representative of Alpha Sigma Tau or violate any hotel or Sorority policies, I will be asked to immediately leave the program at my own expenses and additional action will be taken by the National Council and/or my chapter regarding my behavior.

Photo Release: As a participant of any Alpha Sigma Tau sponsored national event, I understand that videos and photographs may be taken. By agreeing to these conditions, I give Alpha Sigma Tau the absolute right and permission to use my photograph in promotional materials and funding efforts. I understand that the photograph(s) may be used in a publication, print ad, direct mail piece, electronic media or other form of promotion. I release the Sorority, the photographer and any designee from the liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I may have in connection with such use.

STANDING RULES OF THE CONVENTION 1. No one shall be admitted to any Alpha Sigma Tau Convention activity without their official Convention name badge. 2. Voting members of the Convention are to be seated five minutes before meetings are scheduled to begin. 3. Motions from the floor may only be made by voting members of the Convention. All main motions and amendments shall be presented in writing before the motion is made to the Convention Secretary on motion forms provided, signed with the full name and position of the maker. 4. Any registered member of the Convention who wishes to speak in debate shall rise, be recognized, give their full name, chapter affiliation, and official capacity. No one shall speak in debate more than twice on the same question, or for a period longer than two minutes, without the permission of the Convention body. 5. Debate on any proposed resolution or debatable question, including all amendments thereto, shall not exceed 20 minutes. 6. Voting shall be by voice vote or by an electronic voting device, except when the Chair deems it necessary to use some other method. Voting by electronic device shall be deemed to be a division of the assembly. 7. Convention delegates must present their voting credentials to receive an electronic voting device. Delegates shall be responsible for their electronic voting device at all times. Missing or damaged electronic voting devices will result in a $50 fee payable to the Sorority. If voting credentials or an electronic voting device is lost during the Convention, a replacement will not be issued. 8. Each candidate for the Nominations Committee will be allowed a speech of no longer than two minutes. Any candidate who is not present may have a letter read on her behalf. Each candidate will state her name, chapter, current position, any pertinent past experience, and why she is interested in serving on the Nominations Committee. With 15 seconds remaining she will be silently signaled to conclude her speech. When time has expired she will be told to stop. 9. For the election of members to the Nominations Committee, each voting delegate may vote for no more than four alumna members and no more than one collegiate member. The four alumna candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast shall be elected to the Nominations Committee. The alumna candidate receiving next highest number of votes, after the four elected, shall serve as the alumna alternate to the committee. Likewise, the collegiate candidate receiving the highest number of votes cast shall be elected to the Nominations Committee. The collegiate candidate receiving the next highest number of votes shall serve as the collegiate alternate to the committee. 10. The Chair may deviate from the printed program when necessary or expedient. 11. The National Council shall appoint a committee to approve the minutes. 12. Unless otherwise instructed, the use of electronic communication devices is prohibited during all scheduled activities, and electronic communication devices must be turned off during these times. No food or beverages may be brought into business meetings or scheduled activities unless otherwise instructed. 13. Recording devices may not be used during general sessions unless otherwise instructed by the Chair. The Sororityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s staff and official Convention photographer and videographer are permitted to use recording devices in their designated capacities.

PERSONAL SAFETY AND SECURITY Alpha Sigma Tau works diligently to provide a safe and secure environment at its Convention by working with venue staff to make sure participants are safe. We ask that all attendees report any questionable or concerning activity to on-site Headquarters staff so that they can take immediate action. No concern is too small..

• Be aware of your surroundings at all times. • Keep your electronic devices fully charged at all times. • Travel in pairs or groups when walking to and from the hotel, offsite events, or meal locations during early or late hours.

Stay in touch with your chapter’s delegation and/or roommates. Be sure your group knows your whereabouts at all times. Don’t wear your Convention name badge on the street. Take it off as soon as you leave the hotel. Don’t carry a lot of cash or credit cards. Don’t leave your personal property unattended anywhere at any time.

Your first call should always be 9-1-1 in an emergency. The Headquarters Staff should be contacted next as timing allows.
