Recionstruction of Beirut Port : The biggest non-nuclear explosion ever recorded in history was at the Port of Beirut. The mission of the new architecture proposal is to bring back the port’s competitive aptness in its context in order to further engage in the world trading markets.

Since 1963, individual owned land is limited to 67 hectares (30% of total land) by Cuba Agriculture Act.
Loose relationship between producer and consumer Crops diversification increase farmers’ resilience to changing weather. (Research published in 2021 from Poland)
In the end of 19th century, Cuba achieved prosperity of urban agriculture.
In 2012, government allowed more individual land owning. Today, non-state sectors has own 70% of Cuba arable land
HYPOTHESIS STATEMENT An urban oriented food port
that consists of food production, distribution, processing and consumption in the new master plan that act as a catalyst to amplify the relationship between food production sector and urban consumers in Beirut. Besides, it makes urban consumers aware of how their current and future food is made.
An innovative R&D and incubating environment to develop food products in the future, attract the new entrepreneurs to be part of the agricultural and food industry. Building a new urban food chain at the port might attract the foreign food resources to be imported, which new farming technology might be developed to achieve agricultural diversity in Beirut city. A food system operated and controlled by new food entrepreneurs and private enterprise, it is a beginning for the people to take control in one of the most influencing factor, which is food, to unintentionally impact the government act.
IDEAL A new urban food chain at the port highly increase opportunity to attract the foreign food resources to be imported, which new farming technology might be developed to achieve agricultural diversity in Beirut city. In the same time, the city will generate more local food resources to be exported to foreign countries. Plenty of new agricultural entrepreneurs are hatched and expand their agricultural business to other states and nation. Besides, through the cooperation between private and state-owned company, the government will encourage people to accept more acres of idle land due to the growth of urban agriculture As a result, people will have more interest in urban farming, and also own more personal land. Nevertheless, to slowly create an united community on the foundation of people’s food, in the aspects of economic and sense of belonging, that the food port finally become the people’s food port.

Types of test farm and food process test pod are complimenting the incubating programs, massive generating new crops for production. New incubator clusters are ready to expand while the agriculture entrepreneurship is mature in the city, to encourage a collaborative environment among “farming creators” in different agriculture sector.

Cedar – Tree of God in Bible “Evergreen cedar is like a nation, although it used to be cruel, but still very young. Cedar was oppressed, but never conquered. It symbolizes purity and eternal life, represents perseverance and people’s strength”
New research and incubator hub tends to symbolize the rebirth of the Beirut Port and the evergrowth of the city in terms of economy and sense of belonging. Hence the concept of cedar tree, Lebanon Nation tree, is developed to express the new borned architecture solution.

2. Building form is divided into 2 main zones that serve purposes of Production and Exposure & Collaboration
3. Inspired by cedar tree appearance, private Zone (Production) is raised above ground level. More privacy is achieved too.
4. Two Atrium and one courtyard are formed to create big open space for visitor gathering and events.
5. The side blocks are transformed into modular blocks ( Replacable Farming &hHarvesting) Irregular Center block layer inspired by uneven cedar tree leaves layer.
