Ajmer – Enjoy this Peaceful City on Your Next Vacation Ajmer is located in Rajasthan, in western India. Ajmer is surrounded by the Aravalli Mountains. It is a pilgrimage centre for the shrine of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and is also the base for visiting Pushkar an ancient Hindu pilgrimage city, famous for the temple of Brahma. The city Ajmer welcomes a lot of pilgrims every year, there are many hotels available to greet devotees. The Tourism Department has ensured to equip numerous ajmer hotels and other support services for the comfort and aid of tourists.

Some of the important places including Ajmer Dargah are described below  The Dargah of Khawaja Saheb: At the foot of a Barren hill, the Dargah of Khawaja Saheb is situated. After Mecca and Medina, this is considered as the most sacred place of Muslims in Asia. According to the history, Mughal Emperor Akbar used to visit this holy place from Agra at least once in every year. In the center of second courtyard, you will find the tomb of Saint with a impressive marble dome. And to add to its beauty, it is surrounded by silver platform. Mughal emperor Shahjahan has also built another mosque in the courtyard which is regarded as the most beautiful of all sanctums within the sanctuary of the Dargah by the visitors.  Nasiyan Temple: Nasiyan Temple is a famous Jain temple which was built in the year 1965 in Ajmer. Red in color, this temple depicts images from Jain mythology in the two storied hall . Visualizing those images, you can understand the ancient Jain concepts.


 Lakes in Ajmer: Ajmer is famous for its Ana Sagar Lake which is artificial lake was built by damming the river Luni. Bounded by hills, it gives a spectacular view to the visitors. On the bank of it, there is also a beautiful park called the Dault Bagh.  Forts in Ajmer: Besides Dargahs and temples, Ajmer also has a Fort which is called as Taragarh Fort. Crossing Adhal-din-ka-jhopra, you need to climb for almost one and half hour to reach the ruins of Taragarh Forts. Perched on hill, this fort will give you a excellent view of the city.  Adhai-din-ka-jhonpra: Located in the outskirt of city, Ajmer, it is an excellent example of Indo and Islamic architecture masterpiece. Built within a temple, it was originally a Sanskrit college which was later at the time of Mohammad Ghauri’s regime changed into a mosque within two and half days and from there it has got its name.
