OASIS HAVEN
Gathering Place: UPM MRT Station
University Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia
01
Oasis Zone
The primary aim of the project is to revitalise an abandoned open green space situated on the university’s northern edge, transforming it into a gathering space for both campus inhabitants and the neighbouring community. With its strategic location, Oasis Haven Park serves as a community urban retreat park and a serene sanctuary for people to escape the hustle and bustle of urban daily routines by interacting closely with nature. Hence, improving urban dwellers well-being by inviting them to gather, interact and connect with other users and nature.
Primary Issues
Lack of accessibility & connectivity into the proposed site
Shortage of diverse activities found
Project site is less attractive that seems uninviting to people
Strategic location of proposed site is underutilised and not fully exploited to good use
Concept
The park draws inspiration from the concept of a desert oasis, highlighting lush greenery and water features to offer a serene escape from urban chaos. It serves as a gathering place for neighboring communities, mirroring the oasis’s role in bringing people together and providing essentials.
Goal
Optimise project site potential use by creating an interconnecting community outdoor space as a resting stop for relaxation through revitalising the ecosystem aesthetic and provide multiple recreations integrated with nature
Objectives
To create comforting and unwinding nature-based environment and facilities that uplift people’s health and mood
To provide rejuvenating, diverse and numerous recreational activities fused with nature
To create ceaseless accessible outdoor spaces that generates revenue through events and recreational activities
7
Environment Social Economy Sustainable
Design Development
Determining the ‘oasis’ in the centre of project site, nodes and their interconnections
Determining users and canal circulations. With alteration to existing canal circulation to suit the proposed design programmes
Create zonings for proposed design programmes on site
Planting Selections
Side entrances marked with a foxtail palm tree and provided shelter.
Basement parking designed underneath convenience store to accomodate the future park’s visitors capacity.
Water features in the oasis zone are further emphasised with a water droplet statue and cascading waterfall. Native plants that have similar features like desert plants are selected to accentuate the desert atmosphere.
Multipurpose lawn to be use for recreations and events, which can also be viewed from the forest walk, atrracting forest walkers to visit the area.
Fragant flowering plants are proposed for aromatic garden to imbue healing properties and remove odour

Masters of Landscape Architecture FRSB Compound, University Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia Landscape Planting Design Academic Work 02 MOSAICA TROPICSCAPE Entrance
The project’s theme is to reinvigorate an open green space situated at the Masters of Landscape FRSB compound with additional focus on landscape planting design. The place was planned with dynamic tropical plant selections to attract appropriate faunas and improve site issues. Furthermore, creating a special calming spatial experience from the hustle of academic works. Thus, it was designed to elevate the site’s ecological and aesthetical conditions by attracting urban wildlife and campus users.
Site Constraints
