4TH OF JULY PARADE
On the 4th of July, GALA Key Club was invited by the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club to join LACES, Palisades, and Crystal Kiwins at the Santa Monica 4th of July Parade to commemorate the Santa Monica Key Club’s 100th Anniversary. We met up at Santa Monica beach at 8:30 to decorate the parade truck before the event. By the end of the hour, the white truck was completely unrecognizable, and was decked out with red, white, and blue tinsel and draped in American flag banners. After decorating, we drove to the parade route and waved to spectators as we marched down Main Street. All in all, we were super appreciative to have been able to meet clubs outside our division. We look forward to next year’s parade!

BALLONA CREEK CLEAN-UP
On Saturday, June 11th 2022, Division 13 West teamed up with the nonprofit Friends of Ballona Wetlands and held a creek cleanup! The event began with introductions to get to know the workers & their roles with the organization. To acquaint ourselves with the creek, we toured the area and prepared for the activity by suiting up with gloves and trash bags. Afterwards, we made our way to the site and picked up a variety of trash, with the total collected amounting to over 45 pounds! We were incredibly happy to help dwindle the amount of trash that appears on Ballona Creek and learn more about the importance of a clean environment!

GONG CHA FUNDRAISER
On Thursday, June 30, Larchmont Key Club hosted a boba fundraiser at Gong Cha Little Tokyo from 12-8 p.m. With the support of past key club members, friends from other key clubs, and members/family of Larchmont, we were able to raise $128! To promote the event, leaders created two trendy promotional videos. Leaders also promoted the day of the event by passing out flyers outside the place encouraging people to come in. The Gong Cha boba fundraiser was a success!

KIWANIS MONTHLY CLEAN-UP
On Saturday, June 18, 2022, South Gate Key Club partook in a monthly community clean-up organized by the South Gate Kiwanis. The clean-up took place behind a local Tom’s Burgers and residential area. Upon arrival, each volunteer and member were afforded a pair of gloves, a trash picker, a black trash bag, and a Kiwanis vest. Members from Legacy High School, South Gate High School, and Girl Scouts from the community all volunteered! From 9:00 - 10:00 am, all volunteers worked in cohorts to fill more than 7+ trash bags. In closing, a joyous raffle was held by the Kiwanis to commemorate the end of the event, and gift cards were distributed to the winners! In all, members who attended the event were able to make a positive environmental impact on their neighborhood, alongside dedicated individuals with a passion for service. Both high schools look forward to the July Kiwanis Clean-up!

DOWNTOWN MAGNETS
We held our first cabinet meeting to introduce all new cabinet members and discuss plans for the following year. There were a lot of ideas shared and discussed to raise membership and club spirit for the up coming school year.
GALA
This month our service project coordinators, Brook'lynn and Olive, planned a environment focused service project where members brought and used biodegradable items (such as egg cartons) to fill with soil and plant different seeds. Members were able to distribute the plants (encouraging others to join key club doing so) where little messages containing the importance of recycling were attached In addition, members from our club went out to the Ballona Creek reserve during our summer break to help clean up the environment In addition, we also got to celebrate pride month as members created different posters in regards to pride and the LGBTQ+ community. As for D13W June monthly recognition, our president (of GALA) Jade was selected for officer of the month, GALA was elected for club of the month, and our service project of Seed Planters was recognized as well. Lastly, our club's member of the month is Anjola (editor for newsletters) for being active in club activities, attending out of school events, and taking the time to make the first monthly newsletter!
