NEWS EDITOR Hello Hedgehogs
Can you believe that the year is almost over? We have about a month left into this year. Wow that is pretty crazy. It is amazing to look back at this year and see all we have accomplished. Even though this year was something we all never saw coming, let's make the most out of the rest of the year. Key Club as a whole, has been doing amazing running while in quarantine. To see many active members and many people getting involved makes my Key Club heart burst with joy! To attend monthly division council meetings to the many informative webinars, I love the amazing passion that all of you have. Key Club will have many opportunities this month to get those hours you desire. Let’s reach our division goal and continue to have an amazing time serving! Please continue to stay safe and social distance. Remember to wash your hands! Hope to see you guys in the upcoming month!

LTG LETTER
What's Up Hedgehogs
For those of you who are new around here, my name is Javier Nunez-Verdugo and I proudly serve Division 13 West as their Lieutenant Governor. If you are completely lost about any of the words I just said, don’t worry, I’m here to guide you all through the remainder of the term and hopefully into a long Key Club journey! It’s November now, which means that we’re only two months away from a new year. This past month, I’ve gotten into making paper stars and other origami creations to take my mind off of college apps. To my fellow seniors, I hope you all are doing well and taking care of yourselves during these times. I know how hard it is to manage with school, college apps, and personal life right at this moment, so please don’t feel like you’re alone. I am always one text away if any of you ever need me, even if we have never talked with one another. I hope you all enjoyed all that we had to offer in October because we’re keeping the same energy this month as well! Stay on the lookout for more opportunities to actively serve within your clubs and bond with more Key Clubbers. Feel free to invite friends to explore what Key Club has to offer while bonding and meeting new people at our events. I am so excited to see just who pops up this month and can’t wait to hear some news from everyone. Thanks for sticking around and I hope you enjoy this month’s issue! Rolling to Service,
Javier Nunez Division 13 West 2020-2021 Lt. Governor

EA MESSAGES "What's SPOOKIN Hedgehogs? HOW DO YOU FEEL? Can you believe that we are halfway through the semester? I can't believe it either! Here's a countdown for you: there's less than 4 weeks left until Thanksgiving break and about 8 more weeks until Winter break! What does this mean? It means that we're only getting closer to Spring Rally South! In the meantime, please continue to participate in your school meetings, DCMs, volunteering/fundraising events, as we are getting closer everyday in achieving these our division goals! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach out! I look forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming events!"
HELLO THERE! As we all know… it is officially FALL! The weather is changing so let's remember to keep ourselves safe and keep that social distance. The school year is continuing, keep doing your best and do your best for Key Club. As members continue to participate in these virtual service events and become a well involved member. Get those hours in! Attend your club meetings, don’t miss out on any new updates. Remember to keep in contact with your presidents and ask any questions if you have any. Stay safe hedgehogs :)

EVENT RECAP SAILORTC
Allison Ojeda Historian | Lincoln High School This month, Key Club held its annual Region 8 Training Conference over Zoom. Despite the change from real life to on camera, RTC was still both very fun and educational. Once you had entered the call, you would put a number that corresponded with your position or presentation you were interested in hearing. Through this system of numbers, the people in charge of the Zoom would put in a certain breakout room where you would be given that presentation. The presentations ranged from information about Key Club to College 101. Every presenter was very helpful and did a wonderful job representing, answering questions, etc. During the event, there was also something called ‘Love Notes’ where people could go into a doc and leave a small note for people. In between presentations and breaks, the people hosting the event would read out loud these ‘Love Notes’. Everyone was really friendly and kind to each other and I look forward to next year’s!
GALA KEY CLUB
CHARTER PARTY
Maya Henry Historian | Girls Academic Leadership Academy Add On Monday, October 12th, 2020, the Girls Academic Leadership Academy Key Club officially joined the ranks of Division 13 West, and more importantly, the entire Kiwanis International Key Club Family. It’s been two long years in the making, and the circumstances of COVID 19 weren’t ideal, but truly, it was the perfect charter party. Close to 70 Key Club International members and affiliates joined in on the fun, including Girls Academic Leadership Academy Key Club members, teachers, and administrators in addition to other Division 13 West members. After all the GALA Key Club sponsors, officers, and members introduced themselves, a lovely virtual pin ceremony was held. There were balloons, speeches, introductions, and, of course, technological issues--without accidental muting, would it even be a Zoom party? Most importantly, and most memorably, there was GALA’s new extended family. Endless thanks to the Kiwanis Board for throwing such a warm celebration and for being so welcoming, and on behalf of the Girls Academic Leadership Academy Key Club, we can’t wait to dive headfirst into being proud and loyal Key Clubbers. Mikaela Dinh Division News Editor On September 19th, we had our monthly Division Council Meeting which the theme was Po-KEY-Mon which I thought was really clever. We started off with some icebreakers which are always fun. They were led by the Two Head Spirit Coordinators, Simon and Erik. We then continue to discuss some old business and new business such as RTC, Region Training, Conference, coming in the upcoming months. I am excited about RTC since it will be my last RTC I will be attending as a high school student. Afterwards, this dues submission will open on October 1st, we learned a little about what dues are used for and why we should for the dues. Dues help pay for District expenses such as Fall Rally or DCON but also allow members to have their hours counted. Overall, it was a fun DCM filled with many informative information and memorable memories.

KEY CLUB 101
Simon Zhong Historian | Downtown Magnets High On the same day of our home club’s club rush, there was another meeting for Key Club 101 on October 6th . Real simple, it’s was a good run down the basics for what key club is and it isn’t a club where you make keys lol~ But there was a good amount of people that joined us and also joined the remind, just hope yall will stay even after fall rally! But overall, It seem like everyone enjoyed it even though Erik forgot that we had a slide to present together smh.

UNICEF OCTOBER 2020 Key Club and UNICEF have partnered together for many causes, helping communities all over the world: "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has empowered generations to make lasting change in their global community by collecting donations on Halloween to help save and protect children. In 1994, Key Club has been trick-or-treating for UNICEF and has raised over $7 million. Since 2011, Trick or Treat funds have gone towards the Eliminate Project which combats Maternal and Neonatal tetanus. MNT is still a threat in 12 countries around the world.
