My name is Mikaela Dinh and I am happy to serve Division 13 West as your Division News Editor for the 2020-2021 term. This term I wanted to bring all our updates and news with a monthly newsletter. I really hope you enjoy looking at the newsletter. I put a lot of time and effort to make this amazing newsletter. I enjoy being a part of Key Club. I have made so many memories and created many fun moments throughout the few years I have been a part of Key Club. This newsletter will be a way to look back on some of your favorite Key Club moments. I will continue to pump the same quality of work throughout the term and I hope you continue to check all of our events and plans for the future. Rolling to Service,

What's Up Hedgehogs? My name is Javier Nunez and I am proud to serve Division 13 West as YOUR Lieutenant Governor for the 2020-21 term! I’d like to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has been with me so far throughout the first month of my term, attending my last two DCMs and participating in our service week this past April. If I didn’t see you then, I look forward to hopefully seeing you at future events and getting to know you. I don’t bite and I’m always one Instagram DM, text, or email away if you ever need me. I know that it’s been a hard transition serving our communities this past month from home, but your Division 13 West Team is working hard to bring you all some fun events and activities in the coming months (especially since summer’s coming up soon). Please make sure to stay up to date with the latest news and information on how you can continue serving on the division and your home club’s Instagram pages. I hope that we all get to see one another soon. For now though, continue staying safe (at HOME), practicing social distancing, and washing your hands! It’ll take the smallest actions to make a large difference in this situation, but I know we’ll get through it together. Remember that I’m always here if you need me and I look forward to serving all of you this term! Rolling to Service,

Javier Nunez 4

Division 13 West 2020-2021 Lt. Governor

As of right now, I also serve as Downtown Magnets KC president for the 2020-2021 term. DIVISION UPDATES For this month updates we are still not able to continue with events that we would usually hold due to Social Distancing. But that doesn't stop us!! This month we had our May DCM on Zoom. We announced A Kiwanis Service Project: Cards to Senior Citizens, discussed new updates, and also held a movie night where we watched the movie Big Hero 6. Â From April 20th to April 24th we held our first Service Week of the term. We did a variety of service projects to show awareness to Covid 19. Members were rewarded service hours for their participation. We also showed awareness for Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) with Eliminate Week from May 4th to May 8. We did a variety of tasks to bring awareness.

Stay at Home Service Week Allison Ojeda, Historian | Lincoln From April 20th to April 24th, Key Club held a Service Week. During this week, each day was given a theme and a task to receive service hours. The first day of Service Week was Health Awareness Monday. The task was to create a poster or graphic to raise awareness about the current Covid-19 virus. The next day was Dog Toy Tuesday. The job given was to make dog toys with old materials or clothes laying around their house. The following day was Clean up Wednesday. The task given was to help around the house with cleaning and organizing. The day after was Card Making Thursday. The job was to write cards to senior citizens during these scary times to bring them hope. Finally, on the last day, it was Paper Crane Friday. Cranes for Cancer is an organization that helps provide funds for the research of pediatric cancer. To show support, everyone was encouraged to fold origami paper cranes. Each of these five days allowed for students to gain community service hours during this quarantine.

Simon Zhong Historian | Downtown Magnet So, for the month of May we had the Eliminate project service week and it was pretty fun. But one of the days that stand out to me was the elemon-ate day on Wednesday. Basically, some of our members in my school club came up with the idea of doing it together because it would be fun taking a shot of lemon juice or a lemon slice. Though the sides of my cheeks started burning for the rest of the day; me, Alexia, and Maggie did a tiktok with the Snake song were every time it said snake you swipe you’re hand in front of your face and go from a sour face to a sight face. Even though I had to redo it because I forgot to press record the first time and Alexa didn’t like the first video she did, it was pretty fun
