aving been linked to co-stars like Shraddha Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, actor Aditya Roy Kapur (right) says he has become immune to gossip. The actor, who was linked to Shraddha during the making of Aashiqui 2 (2013), was later said to be dating his Fitoor (2016) co-star, Katrina. “I have been in the industry for quite some time now, and I feel that these things (linkups) will be written about you all the time. I am thickskinned about these things. Most things I don’t read and whatever I read doesn’t really affect me,” Aditya says. “I don’t want to waste my time trying to control these things as my life will become a vicious circle,” he adds. Aditya, however, says that initially when he was linked to Shraddha, it used to bother him. “As far as rumours about us (Shraddha and I) are concerned, we know each other and between the two of us we know the truth. We don’t bring it up now, but earlier we used to talk about it,” the actor shares. “You can't let it affect you

HINDUSTAN TIMES, NEW DELHI WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2017

horeographer-director Remo D’Souza (below, right) describes his journey in Bollywood as a roller coaster ride, saying that the tough journey keeps him grounded. D’Souza, who hails from Bengaluru, was raised in a middle class family, and had a long struggle before making it big in Bollywood. “It was a roller coaster ride. But I am thankful to Almighty that in one lifetime I have seen both, the good and the bad. So I take my success humbly and work hard to continue. My success is the result of my struggle,” D’Souza says. Talking about the new app he has launched that he says will help newbie choreographers, he says: “Budding dancers can send me direct videos, and I will judge them. Every month I will release a new song that choreographers can choreograph and send me.” He adds, “Back in my day, there were no phone videos and I used to go after every director for an opportunity; there were days when I’d dance 10 to 12 times on the same music for different people just to get a chance. I know how it feels. Now that I have a platform, why not make their journey a little easy?" So what is he looking for? “When I know about the talent of a dancer, I also have to understand if our creative sensibility matches while working together. In a creative job, that is very important. According to that potential, I will take them in my team as assistant, actor or dancer,” said the National Award winning choreographer.

usician Shekhar Ravjiani (above) will be back with partner Vishal Dadlani, where the duo will return to Bollywood with Student of the Year 2 this year. The music composer promises that the Karan Johar-produced film will be an extension to the groovy and romantic numbers from its previous installment. The team will also collaborate with international artists such as the British pop rock band, The Vamps, in early 2017. Shekhar says he wants to work with British singer-songwriter Sting. “I just love his music. I would have loved collaborating with Michael Jackson and James Brown but sadly it’s not possible.” This year is also special for Shekhar because his private album, which has been in the pipeline for five years, will finally be released. “The theme of the album is all about going back to your

thiya Shetty says Bollywood was “totally new” to her when she debuted in Hero (2015). “I didn’t know anything about Bollywood before I signed my first film. I didn’t have any connection with movies except that my father was an actor. I never went on the sets with him. As time unfolds, I will be able to understand more about myself and the industry.” The actor says her perception of the industry changed after she started working. “After my first shot, I told my parents that I want to do this for the rest of my life. I felt extremely grateful. I am very critical about myself. So, I feel there is a long way to go. I have seen my father and his journey and how he got his first film. That was a sense of achievement for him. I didn’t get the chance [to be an actor] on a golden platter, but I won’t be naïve and say we [star kids] don’t have it easy. I feel blessed,” she says. Although Hero wasn’t received as well as expected, the young actor says she

ctor Freddy Daruwala (left), who played the lead antagonist in his debut film Holiday (2014), says he’d love to do a romantic comedy. “I am a romantic at heart, which people won’t believe. I really want to do a rom-com,” he says. Ask him if there’s any particular genre he’d like to avoid, and he says, “We have limited genres — action, drama, comedy, romance — it’s only the film that can turn

“wouldn’t change anything about it”. “I understood that it was part and parcel of life and the industry. The team works hard to make the product, but it doesn’t work sometimes. One learns from such experiences.” Athiya will be working with Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in her next film. Ask her about Anil and she says, “I don’t have a personal equation with him. I have “known of ” him. He was warm and encouraging during Hero. Working with seniors like Anil sir and Anees sir (Bazmee, director) will challenge and help me. I have seen how dedicated he is. He still gives everyone a run for their money and is so energetic. Even today, he is eager to learn, which is inspiring.” Athiya has often been compared to Sonam Kapoor due to her fashion sense. Is she friends with her? “I am not friends with anyone in the industry, as I haven’t grown up around them. But I know people in the industry. Sonam has created a name for herself and is an amazing person,” says Athiya.

out to be good or bad.” Freddy adds that as an actor, one has to try various roles, irrespective of what he or she wants. “I love being in front of the camera. The characters are secondary. What matters is whether the project fits into what I’ve decided for my career. Then come other factors like the cast, director, etc. My aim is to do films that audiences like.” The 32-year-old, who was seen in a cameo in Force 2 (2016), says he doesn’t restrict his choices. “I’d love to do it all — play an engineer, author, hero, psychotic killer and everything else. There isn’t anything in particular that I won’t want to do.” n
