H is stunning performance in
Marvel’s Black Panther has made Chadwick Boseman one of the most highly-sought stars in the business. Smart, talented and conscientious, it’s not hard to see why critics are lauding him as Hollywood’s future king. Every actor dreams of the role that will turn them into a bankable star. With the smash success of Black Panther and its international boxoffice earnings of $1billion (and counting), Chadwick Boseman has not only attained a-list status, but he's gained his own personal film franchise. now he's back in action as t'Challa/Black Panther in avengers: infinity War, the latest instalment of the Marvel Comics superhero saga. it's a stunning triumph for Boseman, a talented actor who previously played legendary reallife black figures such as James Brown in get on Up, Jackie robinson in 42, and U.s. supreme Court Justice thurgood Marshall. He's also aware that Black Panther is not only a role model and source of pride for people of colour, but is a watershed moment in Hollywood history by proving that a film driven by a black superhero and a largely african-american cast can attract mass audiences across the globe.
“it's an inspiration to be able to be someone on screen who you can recognise yourself - even in a superhero movie,” Boseman says. “it's also important and enlightening for non-black viewers who can identify with heroes who don't conform to the usual stereotypes, and see black people do extraordinary things.” Boseman's Black Panther gets to see additional action in infinity War as he and his fellow avengers are thrust into what Marvel is billing as their “deadliest battle yet”. the film will be highlighted by both the appearance of the guardians of the galaxy squad and a superhero battle royale that takes place in the Black Panther's high-tech kingdom of Wakanda.
Joining such an established team as the avengers might intimidate some, but the handsome 40-yearold insists that neither he nor his cat-like alter ego are fazed by the prospect. “i don't think the Black Panther is afraid or intimidated by any of the avengers,” he says with a knowing smile. “He's not even trying to find a spot on their team; he's carving out his own space within the avengers and bringing along all his power and skills in his own way. He can exist without them, if he chooses to.” Born in anderson, south Carolina – where he was raised by his mother, Carolyn, a nurse, and his deeply religious father, Leroy, who worked in a cotton factory – Boseman had no intentions of becoming an actor when he was younger. He was enchanted by graphic design and art, though eventually earned a bachelor's degree in theatre at Howard University (in Washington, d.C.) before joining the digital Film academy in new York. He began writing in high school after one of his basketball team friends was shot and killed… a horrific incident that incited the talented young Bosewick to use art and literature as a method to construct social appraisal.
Hoffman, Meryl streep and denzel Washington, plus a few of the world’s most iconic leaders including of past and present nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Barrack obama included. Unsurprisingly for a star who is clearly a deep thinker, the task of playing such a noble and conscientious leader as King t’Challa has prompted the actor to consider his own role in society. “it makes you think about your sense of responsibility, what you contribute to the world. in his case, he's faced with so many difficult decisions. there's the key line in the film, ‘it's hard for a good man to be king.’ it's complicated to decide whether it's right to do bad things for the sake of preserving justice and peace, or whether anyone has the right to decide who lives or dies. “i guess these are all ideas we confront as we journey through life, and right now i’m happy to enjoy the ride!”
“that started me on the path to becoming a writer and director, and it was only later that i went into acting because i realised that if you want to be a director you need to understand the work and the process of the actors you're trying to direct,” he explains. Even more surprising than the fact such a talented actor came to his craft so late, is that the character for whom he is now best known wasn’t even on his radar as a kid. “i was more of a Batman and spiderman fan,” he grins. “i used to play in the trees behind my grandma's house and pretend to be spiderman. But my real hero growing up was Muhammad ali. He still is. i worship ali.” Boseman’s other heroes include fellow actors robert de niro, dustin 9

We chatted exclusively to the iconic lady What are you up to at the moment? i am actually on tour with an orchestra and i am the compere. We are playing all the James Bond tunes. it is an amazing show, the chap you originally did it retired after 14 years and replaced me. it’s a great show with Bond ladies and i narrate the story behind it , there’s a lot of laughs. Are you looking forward to coming to Liverpool oh absolutely. it’s at st george’s Hall and the Comic Con is a lovely gathering of folk, people get dressed up to meet their icons from films. it’s a very special show and very nice to be involved. did you know that dt george’s Hall has an original Willis organ? it’s very famous and was actually manufactured in Liverpool so i am planning for the manufactures to take me to look round. they’ve already invited me and if they forget i am going to take cufflinks and make them take me! You have appeared in some absolute classics - Hammer House of Horror, Carry On, Steptoe and son and of course Bond. How did it all begin? Well it started in 1967. i had been in a convent for seven years and 10

TH E ACT RESS AND MO D EL WITH A CARE ER SPAN NIN G 50 Y EARS COM ES TO LI VERP OO L NE XT MO NTH FOR THE LI M E STRE ET CO MIC CO N. it wasn’t great, i needed to get out. i went to BiBa in Kensington and begged for a job which they gave me. it was a lot of fun and i did some modelling before i knocked on the door of Lucy Clayton Model agency and they signed me up. i spent 18 months doing commercials and acting naturally followed from that. What has the highlight of your career been? it has to be working with dear roger Moore, doesn’t it? i was his first Bond girl in the opening scene of Live and Let die. i knew him before and he recommended i got the part. i was due to go onto a pal with sir alec guinness and roger said to me that this is just a small part and nothing to get excited about. Funny how half a century later people still talk about this and not the play which was supposed to be the big job. Working with roger, though was an absolute delight.
How do you keep going? i like to make people laugh. after being in the convent for seven years with a lot of frustrated ladies it took a bit of oomph out of me and i decided i wouldn’t let them. i have seized every opportunity since. i also love waking. i gave up my car because i don’t need it in twickenham. When i walk i run my own little film camera. Buses don’t do it for me. i also went back to school, goldsmiths where Princess Beatrice went, and i got myself an English degree.

LIVERPOOL is celebrating securing prestigious Purple Flag status again - taking its reign in to an eighth successive year “proportionate”, concluded that door staff are “well-regulated” and described car parks as “reasonably priced, clean and secure”.
Places awarded the status are recognised for providing a vibrant mix of entertainment while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents. the Purple Flag programme is managed by the association of town and City Management (atCM) which works alongside a partnership of key stakeholder groups backed by government, police and businesses. Liverpool, which first gained the Purple Flag in 2010, demonstrated again that it has a safe and wellmanaged night-time economy. a team of assessors spent a night in the city centre in december checking out aspects of the city’s night time offer including bars, restaurants, shops, car parks, theatres, signage and public transport. In conclusion, they: • rated as “outstanding” the city’s arts and culture, restaurants, pubs/bars and late night venues • Praised the “wide and diverse” independent retailers, which they found are “thriving” • described public buildings as “imaginatively lit” • Praised the partnership between the city council, Liverpool Bid Company, Liverpool onE and local residents • Found that taxi provision was “well regulated” they also praised policing as 12
Councillor Liz Parsons, Mayoral Lead for Community safety, said: “this is great news and sends out a strong message that we have a safe and vibrant city centre, catering for hundreds of thousands of people every week. “there is a huge amount of hard work going in every single day from public agencies and private businesses to make sure people who choose to spend their hard earned money coming to Liverpool have the best possible time while they are here.
“a lot of organisations as well as businesses are working together to achieve this and our night-time economy is going from strength to strength.”
Merseyside’s deputy Police Commissioner, Councillor Emily spurrell, said: “i’m delighted that Liverpool has retained its Purple Flag for the eighth year running. We know that the city is a great and safe place to come for a night out, so it is fantastic to see this once again recognised on a national level by a team of independent assessors. “Merseyside Police works extensively with its partners to deliver a comprehensive and proactive plan for policing the night time economy to ensure it is a safe environment for people of all ages and interests to enjoy. securing Purple Flag status once again is a fantastic endorsement of this work and further demonstration of the shared commitment across all the partners to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in the city centre for the benefit of all.”
Bill addy, chief executive, Liverpool Bid Company, said: “Maintaining Purple Flag status for an eighth consecutive year is fantastic news for the city, and credit must go to our Bid levy payers - particularly our Evening and night time Economy (EntE) businesses -
Fantastic news for the city
“the transformation of the city centre over the last few years is absolutely stunning and is reflected in the fact that the number of visitors, hotel beds, shops, restaurants and bars have all rocketed over the last decade. “this year marks a decade since we were Capital of Culture, and the retention of Purple Flag status shows that everyone who plays a part in making the city centre a success is determined to keep on raising standards and not rest on our laurels.
“
Purple Flag is a town and city centre award – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – which aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres overnight.
whose main focus is always the safety and positive experience of its customers, visitors and employees. “improving street safety day and night for both businesses and visitors is a top priority of the Liverpool Bid Company. that is why recently we introduced a raft of new initiatives to address the safety concerns of our Bid levy payers. these included among others a new dedicated member of staff to provide a direct link to Bid levy payers through our radio Link to the city council’s already excellent City Watch programme, maximising the response time to incidents.

Liverpool John Lennon airport has launched its strategic Vision to 2030 setting out how it intends to take the business forward, bringing further benefits for the Liverpool City region, the north West and north Wales. Liverpool is one of the UK’s major regional airports and plays an important role both as an international gateway and as a major driver of the local economy. it is already a large local employer in its own right and through its supply chain, and enhances the competitiveness of business across the region by providing access to international markets and supporting inbound travel. the airport has seen growth in passenger numbers of over 25% since 2014 with 5 million passengers per year now choosing to use Liverpool and
has the potential to further enhance its economic and social impact across the region. the strategic Vision and Master Plan sets out Liverpool John Lennon airport’s offer to collaborate with key stakeholders across the region to help realise the airport’s potential and maximise its benefits. With a focus on the passenger experience, industry leading performance and a continued investment in its employees, Liverpool intends to be the airport the region loves. Building upon its recent success, the airport has ambitious plans to serve more destinations including long haul, with passenger forecasts indicating the potential to grow passenger numbers to 7.8 million by 2030. these increases will require a planned investment of around £100m over the next 10 years, in a proposed
expansion of the terminal building, additional car parking, passenger facilities including hotels, retail, food and drink services and a potential extension of the runway. there is also significant potential to grow cargo operations to attract specialist aviation businesses and to develop a cluster of related high quality employment opportunities. Liverpool is the Faster, Easier, Friendlier airport of choice for passengers from across the region, millions of whom now choose to take advantage of flying from an airport with a relaxed, hassle free environment and best in class operational performance. However we cannot afford to stand still in what remains a very challenging economic and competitive environment, which is why we have set out our strategic vision for the airport going forward in order to deliver continued success.”

H eritage is the latest independent eatery to open in the heart of Liverpool’s business district owned by a family of four. Cooking for the four family owners revolved around learning from their grandmothers, fathers and friends. it felt right to build a restaurant as a family, sharing the food that has always been close to their hearts. and this is 22
(£9) - breast, bones thigh, drumsticks or chicken nuggets. You then choose from one of five sauces to accompany it as well as “pimping your fries” with an additional four sauce choices. there’s plenty on the menu to make you smile - from Lord of the Wings, £13, (a huge pile of 18 wings with all the sauces) to the Massive Cock Burger which i had to try, after being lured by the description; “our massive cock just got bigger and better.” now there’s an offer i couldn’t refuse. What arrived at the table was indeed a towering 12 inches comprising of a double stacked burger with buttermilk fried chicken, cheese sauce, hash browns, iPa rings, battered salty jalapeños, pickles and even a mini chicken burger piled on top. served with regular and sweet potato fries. it would easily have fed 2 people and while i gave it my best shot i hardly made a dent. it was delicious though. the chicken was juicy and the batter was crispy. there was no room for dessert and i don’t think my cholesterol levels
could have handled it anyway. But our lovely waitress, Kai, tried her best to convince us to try the home made chocolate brownies and ice cream. the prices are extremely reasonable (My burger was just £18) and the portions are generous. there was a steady flow of shoppers coming in and out as we dined and the service was friendly and efficient, making it a great stop for lunch. Very highly recommended and far superior to other chicken restaurants.
certainly reflected in the simple menu. Just the right amount of choice
simon chose the falafel with humous and sweet potato fries. For dessert i had my all time favourite, sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which is one of the tastiest deserts i have had in a while. i didn’t require dinner that evening after that! simon feasted on tradition jam sponge and warm custard. it’s a lovely place to escape to for lunch or dinner and thanks to our lovely waitress rachel who couldn’t do enough for us. Friendly and fabulous, Lifestyle wishes this new business every success.
Heritage is open for lunch, dinner and breakfast on weekends, theres an intimate and comfortable dining space and bar area (open ‘til late) with a charming seated mezzanine area. the menu has been created taking influence from their ‘heritage’ – sicilian, Jordanian and British. i chose the hot roast beef sandwich, served well done just the way i like it, with a jug of piping hot gravy, a side of coleslaw, braised beer onions and served between two generous slabs of rye bread. it was delicious and warming on a cold spring day.

Why did you decide to audtion for X factor? Well we both auditioned as soloists the previous year, and both got shortlisted to see the judges, but we just didn’t quite make it. then after recording ‘sex on Fire’ and other songs, receiving the fantastic feedback that we got and winning the judges choice at ‘Liverpool idol’, we decided to audition again for X factor, but this time as a duo.
TOM & LAURA How long have you been a couple? We have been a couple for four years, having just celebrated our fourth anniversary in Paris, in January Just gone, and we get stronger as a couple by the year. How did you meet? We met in college on a musical theatre course. it’s safe to say we didn’t really take to each other at first, with laura being the goody two shoes and tom being the jack the lad. We irritated one another, but as the saying goes, opposites attract! it was only when we were cast as the lead couple in the college Christmas production and was forced to spend time together, that sparks began to fly and the chemistry began to develop. How did you discover your love of singing together? Well it was a little bit random really! Laura was originally working with a guitarist on some material and on one occasion tom tagged along but 20 minutes into a 4 hour session the guitarist had to leave. We then decided, instead of just leaving ourselves, why don’t we try and record a song together, which we did. that song ended up being ‘sex on Fire’. When we listened back we realised that there was something special there and that we needed to explore more songs together, and we realised that we can break the mould of the ‘cheesy couple’ duo. We then went on to win the judges choice award at ‘Liverpool idol’ with ‘sex on Fire’.
Did it change your outlook on your future? it changed our outlook massively. it made us realise that anything is possible when you work hard enough to achieve it. it also made us realise that we can do this as a career and not just a hobby. How long does it take for you to perfect a new harmony? Well the fact that laura was in a choir for 10 years helps because she is used to picking up harmonies quite quickly, and tom has a relatively good ear for hearing harmonies, so between us it doesn’t take too long to figure harmonies out. sometimes laura is so used to singing the harmonies, that she will sing them rather than the tune, which makes for a good laugh for us both as this happens a lot. What was it like meeting Simon Cowell and did he give you any good advice? Meeting simon Cowell was the Big cliche ‘dream come true’ for us both. He is a really lovely man and had a lot of time for us backstage. as the competition wore on, he warmed to us more and more as an act. We have took on board his comments about laura staying on the harmonies because actually, he was right. there’s a difference when laura’s on harmonies and toms on the melody,
that’s were the magic happens. We hope to work with him one day. you've had a year off for health reasons, thankfully that's all behind you, so what are your plans for the rest of the year? the plans for this year, is to work as much as possible, keep learning new material, keep networking and connecting with the right people and keep pushing forwards as a duo. We have just been put on the books of ted UK, which is one of the biggest entertainment agencies in Europe, so we are excited to start working with them. our aim is to go into the studio and work on our own material. What is your ideal gig? Every gig is ideal no matter how big or small. Every one is unique, in terms of venue, audience, atmosphere etc. obviously we have dreams and aspirations of performing in the Big arenas and stadiums on tour, and we will work hard to achieve these goals one day. For us it’s not so much about the venue, it’s about the crowd, and the electric vibes we get whilst performing. there’s nothing better than doing a job you love and having people sharing that love and enjoying themselves with you. How did you find the lifestyle awards ? the lifestyle awards was, not only a fantastic event, but such an honour to be a part of. We seen so many inspirational people being rewarded and acknowledged for their hard work, persistence and courage, and it was a joy to watch. then when we came to entertaining everyone, the crowd were fantastic. this was by far, our best gig to date. the atmosphere was electric and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of being on that stage celebrating a wonderful evening.

sustainable tourism into the future – i think enthusiasm and passion are the things i look for and focus on with tour guiding. You won’t know all the answers for a city that dates back 800 years, but if you love the city and the subject you talk about, that is all that matters and that is what tourists, and employers, want in a tour guide.
MEET DALE ROBERTS, LIVERPOOL’S LIVELIEST TOUR GUIDE! How did you get into being a tour guide? i never profess to be a tour guide. 18 months ago, Philip olivier asked me to come and work for Liverpool City sights as Head of Marketing. i set only two aims; to develop Unique selling Points for the company and clean up its reputation. By april 2017, we already had 2 new tours, a new management team, trained staff and a professional outfit at hand. in May, after helping design the brand new hop on hop off City&Beatles tour, i was asked to tour guide due to my knowledge of Liverpool, the Beatles and my passion and background in public speaking, since then i do 2 two to three days a week and private hires as well, alongside my normal management job. What is your favourite part of the city? Liverpool as a city is gorgeous, anyone who lives here knows that. our docks are the oldest working docks in the world and a UnEsCo world heritage site. our georgian quarter is simply stunning, with our cathedrals in the area too. the Baltic social is booming, the Cavern Quarters history is inspiring and the
suburbs are rich with culture and history too. i find it impossible to say an individual favourite part, but i would always recommend starting at the albert dock and Pier Head and working it out from there. What do you love about Liverpool Is there anything you learnt about the city whilst doing this job? i get asked regularly what the best thing is about Liverpool and my usual answer is the people. the people make this city, the ones who have went before us and the people currently working hard at making us great once again. Musicians, sports men and women, comedians, politicians, businessmen and women and the average scouser on the street. We are a unique bunch and we should be proud to showcase this to the world! What i have learnt recently, is that the next generation is proud of this culture and it is going nowhere. What qualities do you need to be a tour guide? Knowledge is a prerequisite that has always been the bench mark for Liverpool tour guides. But i'm a progressive who is interested in
What's the funniest comment a tourist has made? in the summer i lost count of the people who thought the Beatles legacy statues on the Pier Head were life size, “where the Beatles actually that tall?” – 8-foot-tall them statues are. no wonder they were a big band, quite literally! i had a 14-year-old girl who showed me her phone 1 hour into a tour the other month and asked, “is this who you are talking about?” – it was a picture of Keith Lemon. i get asked questions every day by tourists, some of them make me howl while others make me shake my head. Either way, i normally put them on social media when i'm asked a good one. What's the best time of year to visit Liverpool and why? My favourite time of year is during international Beatles Week in august, all the Beatles big wigs (and wigs!) from around the world show up to enjoy and share in all things Beatles. But even me, as a massive Beatles fan, i am aware that there is so much more to our city than just the fab 4, the events planned in Liverpool for 2018 are incredible. We are no longer just a summer city, there is something for tourists all year around and that is why for me, Liverpool is one of the greatest cities in the world, something for everyone - at any time of day or year. 27
What is your fondest memory of the city and how has it changed? the river Mersey made a lasting impression on me as a boy. i played along its banks for many years, watching the multi-coloured flags coming and going from all over the world. it’s a different place now. the docks are quiet and clean! the waterfront itself has been transformed and tourists pour in from everywhere. You received your first custodial sentence aged 16. Is more being done to keep today’s troubled teens out of prison? there is more support for young people now, but that doesn’t mean they’ll reach out and take it. a lot of skill is needed to win the trust of a troubled soul. Contrary to what people think, the courts are crying out for alternatives to custodial sentences. there are ways to deter youngsters from a life of crime, but local authorities lack the will to introduce anything. From serial offender to bestselling author, public speaker and therapist, your life has changed beyond recognition. How? it was the greatest challenge of my life and took a lot of courage. i entered into group therapy and opened up to other people about everything. it was very scary at times, but eventually i broke the destructive shell i’d built around myself and a much nicer person emerged.
Q&A WITH
JAMES CARRÉ-RICE James Carré-rice was sentenced to a total of more than seven years at Her Majesty’s Pleasure for a string of violent offences. He was described as a monster and considered to be one of the UK’s most dangerous inmates. But against all odds James, who grew up in Liverpool, turned his life around and developed a pioneering system for the new York state Criminal Justice department that helped Us gang members re-join society. over 200,000 copies of his first book, Within These Streets, are in prisons here and abroad. We speak to James, now 57, about breaking free from a life of crime and his new book,
Another Kind of Knowing

You’ve prevented thousands of youngsters from reoffending through therapy and education. Why is restorative justice so important? the public is largely disconnected from the criminal justice system, which is wrong. For one thing, victims should have a right to confront an offender and report the impact of his or her crime face-to-face. restitution is important, certainly, but locking people up to teach them a lesson doesn’t work; offenders need support and education to re-enter society and stay crime-free. Your latest book, Another Kind of Knowing, reveals the methods you used to reinvent yourself. What’s the hardest part in the process? Learning how to step back and observe random thoughts without engaging in them is crucial because it allows us to find a more peaceful, authentic version of ourselves. once we do, we never want to go back.
Another Kind of Knowing is out now priced £7.99 from Amazon UK. For more information go to www.jamescarrerice.com

CHILDREN CREATE GROWING LEGACY WITH 1,000 TREES PriMarY school pupils are using planting power to help make Liverpool greener for generations to come. Children from Florence Melly, Leamington road, northcote and rice Lane schools recently converged on Walton Hall Park to plant more than 1,000 young trees. over two days, the young people sowed seeds for the future by planting a variety of trees at different
locations across the park. they were supported by Liverpool City Council’s Parks and green spaces team and the Friends of Walton Hall Park. the council has teamed up with the Mersey Forest and the one tree Per Child scheme to ensure that every 10 year-old child in the city plants their own tree. the scheme will see 10,000 new trees planted by 2020. assistant Mayor of Liverpool,
Councillor nick small, said: “this is a fantastic project which will help to make Liverpool a much greener city. it is also a great opportunity for the children to take an active role in helping to cultivate their local environment. it is wonderful to think that as these children grow they will also see their trees grow to create some wonderful woodland and natural habitats for everyone to enjoy.”
to me, in a very matter of fact way, “oh i think that’s auntie so and so" and cut me dead as if to say, “don’t ask questions.” i very quickly learnt that you don’t say anything. Do you have anyone haunt you? Yes my grandmother. i have never met her but occasionally i get a smell of biscuits and i know she used to live near a biscuit factory. Why don’t you advertise? Because in Blackpool it’s word of mouth and we are still a little bit closed in that area. People are opening up though but i still believe that my reputation comes before me.
Would you consider writing a book? i started to write one and it was One of Britain’s top called Blackpool’s spiritual psychics, she recently illuminations. a girl was going to went into the Celebrity ghost write it and it wasn’t meant Mansion. She is highly to be because when i was on the respected who has train coming back from London i been tested by the was typing some great long thing British Astrological and i pressed something and i and Psychics Society lost the whole lot, and she had and all her business also lost everything and couldn’t find it. if i was to write one now it comes from word of would be “You Believe My mouth… spiritual Belief.” i have led a life where you would just not believe When did you realise you were what i have been through. spiritual? Well i have always had a spirit What’s it like to be psychic? sitting on my bed and i thought People think it’s a golden ticket everyone did!. i am self taught, no when you are in the trade but it one has taught me but my first is anything but. Because you are experience was when i was a little a spiritual being living an earthly girl sitting on the third step in my life, so in school i knew i was in mother’s house and this funny the wrong school. no one would form came coming down the listen to me but i knew because i stairs from my mother’s have been here before. i have wardrobe. no one was allowed in been shown lottery numbers like her bedroom. she wasn’t grey, that <<clicks fingers>>. the api like some people appear to me, are like the mafia, they are but in full colour and she was angels, which i have seen of all fully clothed. i screamed and ran ages and fairies but if they want downstairs and my mother was you out of something they are washing pots at the time and said like the mafia, so if they want 30
you out of something they will make it happen. Like my husband who got made redundant after 43 years and 3 days sick. But i said to him the spirits have given him redundancy to stop him having a heart attack. How did you get the job on Celebrity Most Haunted? originally i went on Big Brother’s Bit on the side as a ViP guest. as i walked in this woman pointed to me and said, “i know you.” she asked me my name and i told her, she said, ”oh you’re on my twitter.” Well i don’t do twitter much but she told me she had a problem with her daughter. i asked for her date of birth and i pinpointed what was going on. she was one of the producers so i had a line of people, a line of staff and a line of public and i was literally doing reading really quickly. the producer went off to work on other shows, as you do and she remembered me and contacted me to be part of the new show. i do everything out of the kindness of my heart. i say to people when i do it they give a pound to charity and if they think of me and them it will bring us both luck.

What tips would you give someone? Make a bucket list of your life and live it. We are only here a short time. also if you find money on the floor or lying around your house don’t ignore it. Pick it up and put it in your pocket. if you ignore it you are sending out a sign to the universe that you don’t need money.

DARREN VISION D R E A M I N G So everybody dreams ... wouldn’t you agree? And not just at night. We day dream sometimes and we also just have occasional thoughts along the lines of “I’d like one of those” ... or maybe a slightly jealous thought that you want something that someone else has got. I don’t mean you want to steal it! Just that you would like one too. You can sometimes visualise a better life for you and your family by having a cognitive thought process about the tings you want in life ... all these dreams are banked ... but how do you access your Bank of Dreams? Your Dream Bank is made up of your Night Dreams + your Day Dreams + your Cognitive Dreams. A dream is essentially a goal without a committed date. And pretty much every goal is achieved by a good plan ... I call this joining up the dots. Joining the dots from the initial idea, concept or dream through all the stages of a plan leading to a goal. Ok, time for a spoiler alert. Not every goal has to be attained. Often the feeling of having a goal and a plan gives you such a confidence and sense of purpose that only partly achieving it is still a good outcome. What do you think of this? Starting Point: Just left Uni, living at home with parents Goal: I want a family, own a 4 bed house and have two holidays a year by the time I’m 35. Outcome: Family, 3 bed house, one holiday a year There was a supporting plan behind all of this that involved a career, a promotion and a certain earning expectation ... do you see this outcome as a success or failure? The end goal wasn’t achieved so surely this is a failure. But what if this person is happy with their 32
progress and decided to reset the goal, then surely it’s a success. Is even it allowed to reset your goal when you’ve not achieved it? Now there’s a moral dilemma.
Attainable: It’s got to be within reach. It’s good to put a stretch in the plan but asking too much of yourself may be giving yourself unnecessary pressure.
The point here is that you had a goal ... you had a plan ... you had a date to measure it by ... so you are able to look at your progress and decide if you reached your goal, part reached it or wildly over achieved it.
Realistic: Keep it real. This sort of overlaps with Attainable. Reality has a habit of keeping us grounded ... sometimes asking a friend to review how realistic you’re being is a good idea.
So maybe you should go to you Dream Bank and see if you have a plan to get you there. If you already have a plan it’s still worth reviewing it to make sure it’s robust ... if you don’t have a plan then get one! The SMART plan is a good template to use.
Timeline: Every plan has to have a timeline. You say you will do something or achieve something by a certain date. Even stating a date that you will start the plan is a good idea because it is a commitment to your goal. And it must have a clearly stated end date so that you can measure your progress. Remember you can reset your timeline ... but not too often.
Specific: This is obvious but it is where most people go wrong ... don’t use lots of generalisations ... be precise and exact ... no ambiguity. Measurable: Once you’ve described your goal you need to work out how you monitor it, how you will measure it. So you want something that is ‘specifically measurable’.
If you want to chat about your SMART Plan please get in touch via email at darren@dasala.co.uk or follow me on twitter @dasaladarren. If you want to chat about this please get in touch via email at darren@dasala.co.uk or follow me on twitter @dasaladarren.
LIF EST YLE CHATS TO TH E AWARD W INNI NG LIVE RPOOL MUS ICI AN MARC KE NNY AND THE LAU N CH OF H IS NEW RE CO RD C O MPANY partner Dave René as it’s something we’d both thought about for a long time & we felt now was the right time to do it. Our first release hit the number 1 spot in Bulgaria & top 20 in Ireland! And what will it offer? We offer a fast track service from song idea conception to full production & worldwide release. We can do this in a matter of weeks. We are also looking for new & emerging talent, songwriters & creative people in general whether this be in music or design.
How would you describe yourself? I’m hardworking but I like to balance family & social life with it so I’m generally on the go doing something, somewhere all the time. I enjoy being creative & exploring new ideas & projects so there’s never a dull moment! Does being from Liverpool and being a musician mean something more to you? In most parts of the world if you say you’re from Liverpool, they come back with either football or music. I absolutely love our city, we have so much to offer. So to be musician within Liverpool is definitely something I’m very proud of. Tell us about your record company you’re setting up Slide Away Records was started just at the turn of this year. I’ve set it up with my business
Why is there a gap in the market for this? There is always a place for new music, the only thing that changes is the way it is being released. With both our backgrounds working side by side & our passion for music we’re excited to see what we can do. Dave is a successful entrepreneur with a wealth of management & promotion experience. I’m a singer, songwriter, producer & event manager with first hand experience of what it takes to survive in this constantly changing music industry.
How difficult is it to break into the music industry? It’s very difficult, but with talent & hard work you’re giving yourself a very good head start. There’s also so many different parts of the industry you can succeed in, not just the bits you see on certain Saturday night tv shows. What do you love about being a musician? Playing & writing music - it’s honestly that simple! If I go anywhere & there’s a stage & a microphone there, I want to get up. It’s like a busman’s holiday. What are your writing at the moment? I’m currently working on a track I wrote with Saul from Clean Cut Kid. I watched them at Leeds festival last year & they were incredible so it was great to get in the studio & write a couple of songs with him. The basic idea came within a couple of minutes, the best ones usually do so I’m looking forward to putting out the finished track! You recently won a Liverpool Lifestyle award, how did that feel? To be nominated in the first place was a shock, so to actually win it I was speechless. When you look across the winners of the Lifestyle Awards it’s made up of some of the most influential & successful people in the city, so it’s a huge honour to be included in that list. www.marckenny.co.uk www.slideawayrecords.com For info or enquiries marc@slideawayrecords.com 35

OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED New Run To Remember 96K Relay at Wirral Promenade on 6 May 2018 23 Foundation joins everton in the Community and Stanley Park CIC as this year’s charity beneficiaries european Cup Winner Jamie Carragher will take part in 4th annual community legacy fun run on 12 May 2018 The fourth annual Run For The 96 5K will take place in May, and is staged to remember and celebrate the lives of the 96 Liverpool fans, who were unlawfully killed in the Hillsborough
For the first time, Run For The 96 will take place on a Saturday – 12 May has been confirmed, and is the day before the final fixtures of the football season. Run For The 96 5K takes place in Stanley Park, a fitting location between the home grounds of Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club. Last year, a new 1 Mile distance was also introduced alongside the 5K. Former Liverpool Football Club defender Jamie Carragher – who played in Liverpool Football Club’s winning team of the European Cup Final 2005 – is throwing his support behind Run For The 96. Bootle-born Carragher will be taking part in Run For The 96 5K with his Dad, Phil. The 23 Foundation comes on-board as one of the event’s official charities.
Jamie started the 23 Foundation in 2009, naming the charity after the squad number he made famous while playing for The Reds until he retired in 2013. He made 737 appearances and scored five goals for Liverpool FC, and was capped for England 38 times. Jamie commented: “I am delighted the 23 Foundation has become part of Run For The 96. Last year we supported more than 1,100 families, food banks and other vital projects. Our aim is to help young people have a better life and encourage them to achieve their dreams. “Training is underway and I’m looking forward to pulling on my trainers to take part in Run For The 96 with my dad. Celebrating the lives of The 96 is very close to my heart as a Scouser and former Liverpool player.”
RADIO & TV PRESENTER, SASSY MUM & SOCIALITE CLAIRE SIMMO April is going to be a busy
month of celebrations. Not only will the Easter Bunny be bouncing round delivering eggs in our house – but it is also my son Michael’s 15th birthday. 15!!! How on earth can someone like me who is barely responsible for my own actions have a son of 15? It seems like one minute we were in play centres and this month he’s been doing his work experience with Everton in the Community. Plus there is another VERY important birthday – and that is of course – this magazine!!! 10 years and bigger and better than ever before! Thanks to the tireless work of Amanda of keeping up to date with everyone and everything within the City – from Showbiz to current affairs, new businesses and celebrating people’s LIFESTYLE!!! Here’s to another 100 years – never mind 10. I had not only the honour of hosting this year’s glitzy Lifestyle awards at The Liner Hotel – but also managed to pick up an award as Social Media Influencer of the Year – for the 2nd year running – I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for ALL the nominees and winners – and the

evening was a huge success with performances from MD Productions, Tom and Laura and even an impromptu performance of Reach for the Stars from myself ha ha! Another incredible event organised by Amanda and I am already looking forward to next year. The evening was completed by a trip to The Cavern with fellow winner Marc Kenny & his partner Kelly – where my best mate Dale and I fulfilled a lifelong ambition of performing Wonderwall on the Cavern stage!! The celebrations continued this month whilst my brother Peter married his long term partner of 20 years Chris in Las Vegas! They had a pre wedding bash which left us partying until the early hours with all our family and friends and the evening was made with a fantastic performance from TV Benidorm’s Asa Elliott. Despite the lack of sleep – I was up and out on the Sunday for the opening night of LHK Entertainments Youth group “Night at the Musicals”.. it was my first job Directing for LHK and Jade Melia very much co directed this with me so I couldn’t possibly take all the credit for this amazing bunch of individuals who delighted audiences with songs from Shrek & Mamma Mia – they were absolutely outstanding and I sat in the wings and cried with pride at what amazing performers they are and how hard they had worked – their parents must be very proud! I also had the pleasure of working once again with Everton in the Community on International Women’s Day where we visited Holy Trinity in Garston and I hosted a Q&A with the current Everton Ladies team. Women were also celebrated at a networking event I hosted at the Ramada Hotel in Southport, which was organised by Operations Director Lisa Little to bring women together in business and to explain how the Ramada is going to be re branded as a Bliss Hotel – so exciting times for Southport – with a fabulous array of designers also showcasing their clothes with GModels – who’s models included Miss Southport & Miss Manchester! It was an amazing

The evening is always very much a celebration of James life on what would have been days after his 28th birthday, and once again Denise Fergus showed the City and the world what an amazing lady she is, in fact she made such an impact to Sir Trevor McDonald from the recent documentary he did with her – that he was in attendance. INTRODUCING FASHION DESIGNER RICHARD GAIR WHOSE GO GAIRY HAND PAINTED LEATHERS WILL DEBUT ON THE CATWALK AT MANCHESTER FASHION WEEK NEXT MONTH. Tell us about your designs I began life as primarily an illustrator of heavy meatal art such as band logos, record and album covers and fan art. When someone asked me to create a Metallica album cover on the back of a leather jacket an idea for further work developed. We also create artwork on lots of different leather and faux leather items including riding saddles, dog muzzles and even leather under wear! As each design is a totally one-off creation we can create virtually any design that is require. (within the bounds of reason, of course!) With the internet and the ideas of the clients themselves, recourses are endless. What influences you in fashion? The main influences on my work come from the heavy metal and rock n roll scene. The classic ‘Brando’ style leather biker jacket must be part of an entire culture not only in the heavy metal genre but has crossed over to higher end fashion design. How would you describe yourself? After leaving school I studied graphic design and went on to a higher diploma in advertising so design and creating pleasing things have always interested me. I got a degree in design management with the view to running my own creative business. It’s funny how life really does get in the way as from working with children and young people in schools and other public spaces, creating murals and other artworks. I fell into working solely with disadvantaged young people and kids that were at risk of offending. 6
Although very rewarding and enjoyable work. I felt something was lacking in my life. I simply missed my creating! I took a giant leap of faith and with a few hurdles to rise above, I created GoGairy Hand Painted Leathers.
love and who love you. As my work develops and the GoGairy name gets more well known, I’d like to become some kind of advocate for mental health issues and depression, especially among the creative community.
It was then my physical health started to deteriorate. I had been diabetic from the age of seventeen which slowly developed into kidney failure and deep depression. I could no longer physically do what I wanted to do any more. It was a living hell. I remained determined in this until such a time as to receive a new kidney and hopefully a new pancreas. In August 2017 I was blessed with a phone call from Manchester Royal Infirmary telling me that I was about to get my life saving transplant. In six months my life has been transformed and with it a whole new outlook on GoGairy and Painted Leathers.
What are you hoping from participating in Manchester FW
Has being ill inspired you and how? My state of mind suffered terribly during my illness .
To gain awareness from the wider fashion community. Manchester Fashion week will coincide with the launch of the new website, new logo and new products like doggy jackets and jackets specifically made for babies and very young children. We are currently developing a site devoted to this called ‘Punkid’. I’m looking to supply to shops and various outlets and working alongside more established designers would be a dream come true. I also wish to make other designers and artists that they will be able to create relevant work through the GoGairy platform.
Unfortunately, depression is not a tangible complaint – if you were to break a leg you would receive help and support right away, you’d even get a certain amount of good wishes and even sympathy, if that’s what you need. This simply does not happen with a mental illness. I make it sound like a total success story but far from it. Depression is real and the hardest thing of all is to pretend that everything is fine and dandy as not to upset the ones you 45

'Standard Time' is the debut album from Scottish ensemble Trio HLK and sees the innovative Trio collaborate with the world's leading percussionist, Dame evelyn Glennie and acclaimed saxophonist and Guggenheim Fellow, Steve Lehman.
Trio HLK is the union of three distinct, forward thinking personalities. At the centre sits drum virtuoso, Richard Kass, a powerful engine whose multilimbic facility affords him a wealth of textures unimaginable and unplayable for most drummers. His work often draws comparisons to electronica and computer generated music. The standard drum set is augmented here by numerous bells and chimes, hugely expanding the range of possible sounds. Guitarist Ant Law plays a bespoke extended range electric guitar with 8 strings and a variety of effects, creating critical ambience and sonorities. At the helm sits classical pianist and composition mastermind, Richard Harrold, who studied composition both at the Royal Academy of Music and at Yale. His approach encompasses recomposition and de-composition as much as pure composition itself. Trio HLK's music draws primarily on contemporary classical music and jazz.
ONAIRLIVERPOOL.COM ONAIRLIVERPOOL.COM
Many of their pieces take material from existing jazz standards, such as fragments of melody or harmony, which then become the raw material for intricate new pieces, resulting in familiar threads leading the listener into distant territory. Trio HLK is fascinated by rhythmic and harmonic ambiguities and the Trio's music endeavours to play with the perceptions and expectations of the listener. A recent sold out collaboration with Cory Henry (of Snarky Puppy fame) at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival 2015 drew a great deal of attention to the trio, with BBC Rado 3's 'Jazz on 3' noting: “One of the most exciting young ensembles to have emerged in the last year".
As part of their tour they will be appearing at Liverpool University on 19 April 47
BEING POSITIVE, NOT PERFECT Which leads me very nicely into my favourite subject that I teach everyday to loads of people around the North West and the World (Via the internet and my holidays). So what is this great subject? It is LAW OF ATTRACTION (LOA)
GILL FELL WARNING! I am addicted to being up beat so…. deep breath….. and smile and be happier.
I love April so much, I think it’s
48
What is it like when someone smiles at you randomly? Come on admit it, you cannot help but smile back can you, a smile is as infectious as the OZZY Flu – which we are going to leave behind us now as we move into the warmth of the British Summertime.
the most special time of the year and that is because I am an April Baby, only just though, born on the 29th April 1961 (Yes work it out, I will be 57 this year). April brings the English countryside and gardens to life, even the city trees cannot help but be inspired during April’s positive glow of spring, heading into our fabulous British Summer Time.
LOA is the most amazing way to think, it’s about flipping your bad thoughts into good ones, and it’s about believing that things are good for you, right now, even if they are bad. LOA has enhanced my life so much that I literally feel like a millionaire everyday. I have enough and I know that whatever I want or need I can easily find a way to get it.
“Oh yeah, we never get a summer” I hear a few of you scoff, but you, my friends are full of what we like to call in the Mindset business a “A BORING OLD NEGATIVE HEAD” Now, sorry for the hard hitting insult there but #notsorry, indeed I am trying to make a point that if you only focus on the rain and wind you will fill you mind with negative thoughts. The essence is to fill your mind with enthusiasm about life no matter what your circumstances are. That’s sometimes very difficult I know but why not start training your mindset to be more up beat?
Now true LOA thinking needs a bit of practice, what we have to do is start being grateful for what we already have. Seriously grateful, gush over your chair at work, your cup of tea, your train ride home, your partner, your cat, your kids, the garden, the shed, the kettle, the stove, the radiator, the tree in the avenue, the bird flying high….
would need Brian Cox to help me) now there’s an idea for my next big mindset event…. Basically I am not going to say to you sit there and believe you can have anything you want. I am going to say. Start living and thinking with intention. Don’t just let yourself react quickly, stop to consciously think about your decisions. Start using a true belief in yourself that you can change your thinking in order to become a conscious thinker which will lead you to being a conscious creator of the life you want to live. Life is such a great journey, if you are in a spiral of negative health, negative wealth, not enough, depression, down feelings, sadness, grief and you really feel that there is nothing to help you. What do you have to lose? Start thinking better thoughts about what you have and who you are. No need to set any great expectations. If you can “self gift” I have started doing this regularly and so just small things I gift to myself as a sign of my own worthiness to receive. Try it. A great self gift is to say how much you like yourself and that you are grateful for your life… I am grateful for you and I am grateful for me and each leaf on the tree.
You know what I mean? (Lol couldn’t help my self love a bit of Buble)
More next month on Law of Attraction and mindset
I don’t want to overload you with the science behind why this works to start your mindset changing (Mainly because I

THE SMILE FORECAST
The Smile Forecast are Dave Aslaksen – Lead vocals, Si Knuckey – Guitar, Bass and Vocals and Tom Longman – Percussion, Ukulele and Vocals. The trio perform hits from the 60’s through to today, including a lot of 80s numbers. The band puts their own stamp on classic tracks in an acoustic style. How did you meet? Dave and Si have known each other a number of years as they were once next door neighbours. One of Si’s earlier bands were playing in Tom’s local and when the drummer was running late, Tom jumped up on stage and performed a few songs, this was the first time Si and Tom met. The pair kept in touch and when Si decided he wanted to start a new musical project with Dave, Tom was invited in to play percussion. How would you describe yourselves? Tom’s daytime job is teaching Motor Vehicle Engineering in Chester but his passion lies with music. Tom is a selftaught drummer and ukulele player and also likes to spend time working with other obscure instruments. He has played in original music bands including San Harbor and The Last Shanty who still perform occasional shows now that members live in different areas of the country. Tom also organises West Kirby Live, a charity music festival, that in its first two years has raised over £10 000 for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. The festival takes place in June in venues all around West Kirby including outdoor stages.
Dave owns his own home and garden renovation business. He has always been enthusiastic about music and loves having the opportunity to perform and the experience of playing alongside the lads in the band. Si is a Coroner’s Investigation Officer by day. He is a self-taught musician and played with original bands The Spring Factory and Parker during the nineties and early 2000s. He then moved on to play bass on the local cover band scene before moving on to playing acoustic guitar in The Smile Forecast. Si is a family man who still loves playing live music. Great name, story behind it? The band takes its name, The Smile Forecast, from lyrics in an XTC song – 1000 Umbrellas. The Smile Forecast aims to perform upbeat songs that get the crowd singing, dancing and hopefully smiling! How long have you been performing? The first gig of The Smile Forecast trio was in May 2016, with Dave and Si performing a couple of gigs previously as a duo. Since the first gig as a trio, the band have performed gigs around Merseyside and Cheshire almost every week. The trio also took a trip over to Holland last summer to play a gig in The Hague at O’Casey’s Irish Pub. Plans are in the works to return to do more gigs in Holland and Spain in 2019, if not sooner. Are you working on any new material? The Smile Forecast are always looking
to expand their repertoire to keep sets fresh and bring new tunes to regular gig goers. As well as regularly adding new songs to the set, the trio have become a quartet on occasion with friend and local solo musician JoeDaniel Bennett joining The Smile Forecast on stage. Joe has brought a new dimension to gigs with songs from his own repertoire brought in to compliment the trio’s and will perform with The Smile Forecast from time to time in future. What inspires you? It’s fair to say the majority of the band’s musical influence comes from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The band are massive fans of great song writing bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. A love of reggae can be seen within many of the bands sets, particularly in the early days. The band really like audience participation so big singalong songs from the 80s, by bands like Human League, Erasure and Depeche Mode, are often found in the set along with hits from music legends like Prince, Neil Diamond, David Bowie and Stevie Wonder. What makes you smile? Live music, performing for audiences and taking the mickey out of Dave on stage. How do people book you? The Smile Forecast can be booked through their Facebook page: facebook.com/thesmileforecast or by emailing: thesmileforecast@gmail.com

NADINE COYLE INTERVIEW
Nadine Coyle Announces New EP And UK Tour Performing The Greatest Hits Of Girls Aloud
She chats exclusively with Amanda Moss about her plans for 2018 and her ambition to have her own cockering show on TV She returned to the music scene late last year with a brand new song 'Go To Work', now Nadine Coyle announces the release of a new 4 track EP and a UK tour. The first track from the EP is released this month with 'Girls On Fire', an in your face Xenomania
produced pop creation celebrating strong women. Nadine will also be hitting the road this May for a UK and Ireland tour. She will be performing the greatest hits of Girls Aloud solo, alongside songs from her forthcoming new album. Nadine's latest track, 'Go To Work' was released in September last year, and has to date had over 1.1 million streams on Spotify, hitting No.1 on their Viral Chart.
As one fifth of chart-mauling, award-winning, expectationshattering girl band Girls Aloud, Nadine has already played her part in helping redefine pop. Under the watchful eye of Brian Higgins, Girls Aloud racked up a an incredible twenty-one UK Top Ten singles, twenty of those consecutively. If each member of the band – who sashayed their way through a ten-year, five album career – had a role, then Nadine's was The Voice. Often demoing the songs with Brian ahead of the other girls during the band's tenure, it's always been any discerning pop fan's dream for the pair to collaborate again on Coyle's solo material. What do you love about what you do? The great thing about singing is that you can do it anywhere, in the garden, in the shower. If I am walking around my bedroom then I just start singing. I don’t need to go into a recording studio and I don’t need a mic. I am very lucky that I can just do it. Are you looking forward to your tour? Yes, although I am based in LA I am currently in the UK for a few months. I am on tour, so that’s going to be a lot of fun. And then I am appearing at some festivals. Even though I live in america I am never far from UK. I mean you’re only a plane ride away from home and these days it’s not difficult to travel. Does your little girl come on tour with you? Yes I take her everywhere with me. But if I am out of town for just a day or two then I leave her at home as it wouldn’t be unfair to drag her across two different time zones. It’s hard enough for an adult to cope with jet lag never mind a baby. How has your life changed
since you became a mum? Well I am definitely healthier and make more sensible choices about my lifestyle now. I can’t just think about going out partying and I definitely don’t take any chances. For instance I may look at that jet ski and want to jump on it but then I think of my child and think I probably shouldn’t do that.” You are a role model as a strong independent woman. Is there anything you feel you haven’t achieved yet? Hmmm that’s a tough one, as I have been very fortunate. One thing not ticked off my bucket list is that I like to cook. So when I am in my 40s or 50s I would love to have a nice cookery show like Nigella. It’s a huge passion of mine and I can’t go for a few days without cooking. If I do I feel a little off key. My special dishes? Everything really, though I do like to use a lot of corn. I mix it in with everything, spaghetti bolognese and lasagne, I use it as much as I can.
Do you lead a celebrity, showbiz lifestyle or are you a down to earth kind of girl? I live in Orange County which is more laid back. Cameron Diaz used to come into my restaurant and we became friends, my family are friends with her family and we do hang out, but we don’t dress up, we’re very laid back and hang out in beach dresses or shorts. We’re not showbizzy people, we just like to hang out by the bar together with our friends and family. Family to me is the most important, I am very close to my mum. And most of my friends I met through work anyway so I am very lucky. I have a strong support network.
Do you stick to a health regime? Well I do eat well, I am healthy and like to feel good. But I love chocolate and crisps like anyone else but I have given crisps up for Lent so I missing them. I don’t usually like to deprive myself of anything. But if I feel that my bra is getting a bit tighter or my clothes are pinching then I know it’s time to cut back a little.

THE WAY WE RUN OUR BUSINESS IS CHANGING Given developments in technology and society change is always coming particularly for meetings, conferences and events. You could say everything is up for grabs! By Rohit Talwar, Steve Wells, Alexandra Whittington, April Koury, and Helena Calle of Fast Future Smarter by Design – The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the sector will expand quite rapidly. From designing agendas, setting prices, and targeting potential attendees through to customer service chatbots, determining best fit locations and providing back-up content and fact checking of presentations, Silent Conferences Participants will be able to tune in to every parallel session via their personal devices and listen through their headphones from wherever they are in a venue. If current session doesn't appeal, you can simply switch to watch a parallel session without leaving your seat. Next Generation Meeting Scheduling - The intelligent assistants (IA) on our phone, or on the meeting app, will book appointments and meeting locations for us based on the types of people we want to meet. The IA will scan the attendee list and then contact 56
their IA to request meetings. Thinking Hubs - Meeting venues will have interactive technology that will enable creative thinking and idea testing. Virtual Reality (VR) will allow participants to visualize data or ideas developed in a workshop session. Integrated events Apps Users will not have to download individual APPs for each event, we will see integrated systems emerge that present content for multiple events – these may even become standard features on many smartphones. Robot Realms – Events will make greater use of robots as mobile customer service assistants, kitchen staff, baristas, waiting staff, security guards, and porters. We’ll also see more robots featuring presentations and even delivering them. Within facilities we might see drones capturing videos of the sessions, transporting goods, and even moving people between sessions. Big Brother - Attendees of large events might earn rewards, discounts, or actual money for agreeing to use tracking devices during business conventions or meetings. Attendee data would provide key insights to exhibiters, and non-participating marketers, for example those
aiming at the business traveller. Paradise Unplugged – Some meetings will be elevated to a luxury experience by adopting technology-free policies that demand unplugging, disconnecting, powering down, and “off-gridding” for all participants. Events will set a tone of intimacy and authenticity by discarding the free wi-fi and discouraging conference hashtags, for example. The venues would provide a facility at check in where participants can drop off their devices for the day and unplug, putting a total focus on the experience at hand. Political uncertainty – For the travellers to the US, uncertainty will continue over whether travel bans, or enhanced border vetting, will be in place for visitors from a range of countries. This may lead some organisers to locate global events in locations with no such restrictions. These are exciting developments and those in the meetings industry need to take note and get ready to adopt the changes. Your customers will be demanding them soon and you will need to keep up with the competition! EDI TOR’ S LAST WO RD You can't open a newspaper or go online without seeing an awards ceremony. Most recently It was the Liverpool Lifestyle Awards (See all the pictures and highlights inside) and then there's the uK Fashion and Beauty Awards and the Positive Awards (Keep nominating) to name but a few. It's lovely to see so many people celebrate their success and hard work. It's important for people to win awards, it drives their business forward and boosts morale, not only on a personal level but Awards present an opportunity to say thank you to people, to recognise that they're doing okay and give them a pat on the back. Millions of other people don't receive an award but that doesn't make their actions any less significant. ultimately how you go about your daily life can be the most uplifting and influential action you do without even realising it. Which is why I am holding my first Mindful and Positive Healing Retreat in Cyprus this month, I can’t wait. every day we can inspire someone, whether it's giving a colleague some advice at work or giving your child some words of encouragement and a hug. Kindness is the key to inspire anyone, we all have it within us to bring some light on someone's day. Parents up and down the country have the most important role of all in the country, to raise considerate, thoughtful and ambitious children who will carry on when we run out of energy.

A friend of mine said recently that it's time to pass the baton on, to let the young people lead and influence. And what better role models than their parents. So a giant shout out to each and every parent who is raising the next generation. There are no training days or manuals given, parenting is a personal role that is incredibly personal and as long as it is done with respect there is no right or wrong way. As a mother of six, it is my greatest achievement, my proudest achievement that surpasses any accolade. Seeing my eldest son pass 10 GCSes at the highest levels, watching my eldest daughter sail through her mock GCSes gives me a lump in my throat.Seeing my youngest learn to read her first words makes my heart skip a beat. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for the mums and dads doing an awesome job with their families. You are all incredible.
Stay blessed and grateful

Love Aesthetics' ethos has always been about providing the highest quality clinical, evidence based procedures at a reasonable price. After dedicating the last five years working fully in aesthetics I have found the best way to do this is by having a purpose built clinic at my home to reduce overheads. Due to the ever growing clientele we have now located to a larger home based premises to accommodate our growing needs. We are still based in West Derby and prices remain the same as does flexibility and the highest clinical care.
