The Last Exoricsm…A nice little late summer surprise. This movie had more than enough potential to lead up to it’s title. There’s just something creepy about movies shot in the first person documentary style and of course a documentary gone bad. The Last Exorcism takes the best elements from “The Exorcist” and “Blair Witch Project” blends them up and serves up an entertaining jump out of your underpants joy ride! If you could just chop the last five minutes of this film it would be an even creepier film. It’s filled with all your local bone twisting and back bending antics, that keeps us horror flick fans coming back for more!

Uli is our “in-house horror” expert...I’ve become quite a chicken with my routines of sleeping on the side away from the door so I’ll be “a little” further if the killer comes it, or turning off the light and jumping into bed before “something” under the bed touches me and I certainly don’t leave my feet hanging out of the covers... these things in my twisted head keep the “bad people” away. I do have to apologize to Uli for stretching out the arm of his t-shirt with my “claws”. I think hard core horror movie buffs may be disappointed with this movie. This movie totally has a “Blair Witch Project” feel to it with the home movie/documentary camera point of view. So you are seeing it through the “eyes” of the camera...that’s what gives this movie a scary feeling...the feeling you are in the movie and see things out of the corner of your eye. The actually story is lame and the ending is a weird surprise that just cuts off with no explaination. If you love horror movies, see the matinee...don’t even bother with the DVD, you won’t get the same effect..

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized. Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

The Music Scene | Live Music in Amarillo
Bringing an Energetic aura, outspoken lyrics and mind blowing performance’s Colossus of Rhodes from Lubbock, Texas are out righteously spreading their music and talent and engaging new fans across the states. Band ingredients consist of a little humor from Brandon-Guitar/Vocals, a hint of heartthrob and mystery from Nevel-Vocals, a taste of coolness and fashion from JJ-Guitar/Vocals, a dose of organization and nerdyness from Dub-Bass/vocals and to spice it up you add the tough guy, Jeremy-Drums. Colossus of Rhodes is currently hitting their one year anniversary. To look back at their accomplishments is astonishing. They have played with bands such as: Winds of Plague, Periphery, Asking Alexandria, and Motionless in White. CoR, has release two EP’s, “We put out “And the Ruins Fell” in 2008, and just recently released “Stay Oblivious” back in July. Both EP’s were recorded by the magical Bryan Cooke at Digital Base, I would like to say we consider him a friend and he is just fantastic at what he does” says Brandon. Despite all their accomplishments CoR has had to endure some unfortunate events as well, “Last year we had our shed broken into and pretty much all of our gear was stolen. It was a pretty huge challenge because it made us step back and say, “Well if we ever want to give this up, now is probably a good time”. After much debate, we filed insurance claims and came back with a vengeance, I hope to one day meet up with the thief, with a crowbar” said Brandon. Though, CoR enjoys playing every song on their set they do have favorites: “Probability of a Promise”, “Love is Fading Out”, I love the melody and chord progressions of this song, favorite song I ever wrote” (Brandon). When asked what the most embarrassing thing any of them had ever done at a show Brandon, replied with “Easy, so we are playing with In Fear and Faith, The Bled, and Of Mice and Men, A few days earlier I learned how to throw my guitar around my back and catch it on the other end which looks REALLY freaking cool. So we come up to a heavy part I grab the neck of my guitar, sling it, and BAM! The guitar strap breaks mid swing. My guitar flies through the air NARROWLY missing In Fear and Faiths gear. There was about 3 seconds of panic then I ran and grabbed the microphone and sang all hardcore like with Nevel. But I was really embarrassed and looked like an idiot I think I played it off well though.” When asked who are some of the bands favorite bands to share the stage with the band replied with, “ I can definitely say that SixGun Serenade is one of my favorite bands to play with they play really tight and are pretty much the only band around that plays similar to us with their music style (Brandon). Local alternative band On Again, is immensely talented and eclectic. On Again, consist of James Owens, Guitar/ Vocals, Alissa Von Theumer, piano/Vocals/atmospheric effects, Carlos Osorio, bass and Patrick Parsons drums/ percussion. Pleasing all genres with their diverse sound makes this band worth seeing. “The name “On Again” was originally conceived by our pianist/ vocalist Alissa Von Theumer. It’s basically a joke between her and myself. The punch line being we’ve known each other for 15 plus years and we’ve tried playing music together on and off throughout those years. So the name represents our on again/off again musical relationship. Currently we are ‘On Again’” said Owens. On Again, is currently performing more covers than originals. “The long term is to move away from that but right now we’re a blast playing what s - having t s r ’ o we do. ” –O.A. For now they are doing classics like Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, Love Song by the Cure; Here We Go Again by Ray Charles as well as some current top 40 hits and some obscure indie covers. “Our shows are rollercoaster rides of musical styles.” – Owens.
