Spoil You Photography H
ave you ever been to have your pictures taken and felt like they were just going through the motions and rushing you through the process? Well, that is not the case with Sarah of Spoil U Photography. Sarah makes sure that any photo session done with her will be all about YOU. She takes the time to get to know you and inquires about your personal quirks so that she can get an idea of how to bring that out in your photos. She captures your personality with the snap of her camera. Sarah wants you to be comfortable and have fun. “If you are nervous, it will show in your face in your pictures” She says.
Spoil U offers a variety of different photo services, such as Weddings, Engagements, newborns and infants, quinceaneras, seniors and boudoir. Sarah is the only photographer in town that offers the unique service of Boudoir photography and she has unbelievably affordable rates. So if you are looking for something special and sexy to do for your significant other, this is the perfect way to say I love you. You could have a calendar made or playing cards with your photos. Everything is custom prepared to how YOU would like it. Also, Have you ever heard of Metal Murals? “The best way to describe a metal mural, would be to think of it like a street sign with your picture on it.” Sarah says. She and one other photographer in Amarillo are the only ones that offer Metal prints in this area. Pin up and Theme’d Sessions are becoming pretty popular. There are several sets to choose from, such as Tin Bubble Bath, Military, Domestic: (Ironing board, ottoman, bedroom), Cowboy, Roller skating and so many more. If there is an idea that you want to try out, you can add to the list. It is all about YOU. Spoil U Photography has a group of local models that go by “Spoiled Brats” and you may see them around town at different events. They recently appeared at the Low rider Car Show and have plans to be at several upcoming events. They do all kinds of fun photo shoots throughout the year to promote different things. Here recently they had a Mud shoot out at the river and just went and had fun with the whole thing. Engaging in mud fights and having the moment captured on camera, sounds like Spoiled is the perfect name for Sarah’s Models. “1, 2, 3 Grow with Me” packages are Some of Sarah’s favorite pictures to take. The session actually starts during pregnancy and continues on as long as you would like for her to be capturing your childs growth. She even will go to the hospital when your baby is born, and she is much more reasonably priced then the hospital photo’s. And if you choose to have announcements done, she can do those for you as well. Sarah will be there through your babies growing and developing and all of those little special moments that you will treasure forever. Samples of Sarah’s work can be found at www.spoiluphotography.tripod.com. You can also connect with her through Myspace and Facebook. Sarah’s email is spoiluphotography@ yahoo.com and cell phone is 806-316-4412
Sarah has been doing photography for as long as she can remember. She actually shot her first wedding when she was 16. “I love photography so much, I decided to share my love with others in creating and capturing their memories” She --Cherisa Felder the scene

Movie Review | He Said...She Said
Dinner For Schmucks
he said... Uli Tabares
Be careful with the popcorn! This flick is a laugh out loud one! This movie may not be everyone’s taste, but it went down easy for me. As brutal as it may sound, this movie is about a dinner for idiots! How funny can a movie about stuck up schmucks laughing at idiots possibly be? Funny...... and at times hilarious. Confused? Yeah me to! A mix of food and awkwardness to comedic dorks. It’s a decent screwball comedy! Enough to satisfy someone looking for a few laughs.
she said... Cristi Spring
With Steve Carell (Barry), from the 40 Year Old Virgin, I was expecting alot of off the wall slap slick humor. But I was pleasantly surprised. Paul Rudd, plays Tim, a guy that works for a huge corporation in the engineering department. In his quest for a rise to the “upper level” he is invited by his boss to a dinner where everyone brings a “nut case” and the one who brings the biggest loser wins a trophy. Tim accidentally runs over Barry who is a sweet loner who has an odd hobby of making models out of dead mice he stuffs, dresses and puts in little scenes. Barry, with the best intentions, makes a total mess out of Tim’s life just days before the actual dinner. Jeopardizing his job and causing him to lose his girlfriend. It was so unintentional, it made me laugh and feel nauseous at the same time! Two hours passed and I didn’t even realize it. But it had a very funny and endearing ending that shows who the real “schmucks” were. 8a

Indie Musician & Songwriter | Orion Walsh: Q & A
Orion Walsh: Q&A
Musician/ songwriter Orion Walsh is bringing his unique fusion of indie and folk to today’s music scene. After starting solo from his prior band, Slow Coming Day, Orion has gone on to release his 2008 LP “Tornado Lullabies”, a 2009 EP “Freedom Lost Freedom Found”, and his latest album “The Hitchhiker’s Son” in July 2010. His lyrically ingenious songs have been listed to address certain issues such as homelessness, war, peace, recession, protest and life on the road. The Nebraska-native will be completing another west tour from Omaha to California where he will be stopping by Amarillo. See Orion Walsh at The 806 on August 9th at 9:00pm.
W
hat kind of message are you hoping to bring through your music?
A: Well, I hope my music inspires people to think, to question, and to reflect. Q: How would you describe your transition from previously being in the band Slow Coming Day to now being a solo artist? What made you decide to create more folk music after that? A: There has been a big change in musical styles. My old band was more of a pop/rock group and I have completely departed from that style of music. I started playing acoustic guitar a lot and started listening to Dylan, Cash, and Willie Nelson while my old band was on the road and this definitely comes out in my solo music. The main difference now is I don’t write songs to try to make a bunch of money or to get on the radio. I just write what comes out. If people like that, great. If not, it’s neither here nor there to me. Q: Lyrics from “Tornado Lullabies” and many other songs of yours seem to tell epic narratives. Are your songs based on your own true life stories or the people you know? Are any of your lyrics based on imaginative creation? A: Some of the songs on “Tornado Lullabies” are fiction-

al with things that have happened to me in real life thrown into the story telling. Songs like “Starkweather” off my “Freedom Lost, Freedom Found” EP are based on actual historical events. On the new album “The Hitchhiker’s Son” more of the songs are about my own life. It’s a more personal record. Q: Many modern musicians are struggling to make ends meet and still keep their passion for music as a lifestyle and career. How have you managed to make music as your career over the years? Have you had to work any other jobs to get to this point? A: I have always had to work some type of odd job in between the scene
doing tour and playing music. That’s just how it works for the indie musician. In my old band there were a few times in between tours that I didn’t work and that was fun. Most of my career has been full of touring and then working jobs I don’t like, then going into the studio to record and then hitting the road again. If I was doing this to get rich I would have quit a long time ago. Q: Many musicians are also taking their passion to the road. As you are still touring, you have already completed two solo tours of the Midwest and west coast. How would you describe life on the road? Does your new album “The Hitchhiker’s Son” tell stories about your experiences on the road? A: I have completed three tours now solo, and I think we did around 12 to 14 tours in the old band. The solo tours I have done so far have all been supporting “Tornado Lullabies” when it came out in 2008 and “Freedom Lost, Freedom Found” when it was released in 2009. Because of all the touring I have done a lot of “The Hitchhiker’s Son” is about life on the road, which can be tough a lot of times, especially when you are traveling by yourself. Q: Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, and Jack Kerouac have been listed as some of your influences. One of your muses, Woody Guthrie, was raised in Pampa, Texas where he was inspired to play music on the streets. Has the Panhandle, Texas or the South in general inspired you? A: Going down to the south for the first time was really a cool experience with my old band. This will be my second time traveling through the panhandle of Texas solo so I am looking forward to it. From what I have experienced people are very supportive of independent music in Texas and that’s what I love about the state. I have even thought of trying to live in Austin at some point as some of my friends have moved there over the years. I think Texas in general has a lot of great music coming out of it. Q: The record company that made your latest album “The Hitchhiker’s Son” also worked with Bright Eyes. Would say Conor Oberst is one of your influences? A: I actually fronted all the money for my new album and have released it on my own label The Hunter Records. I did record it in Nebraska with famed producer AJ Mogis who has worked with Bright Eyes, Cursive, The Faint, and many other artists as well. Conor is an influence of mine as he has made such a name for himself across the world and is basically the most well known musician from Nebraska. So for that I do have respect for him. Q: What is your goal as a musician?
A: To release music that people can relate to and that makes people think about their lives and the world around them. --Rachel Currie the scene

Animated Truculence
A
re you ready to have your face peeled off, your neck snapped and your heart blown up because you’re rocking out so hard? It is like this for every show Animated Truculence plays. Animated Truculence is a born and raised local metal band consisting of: LoganVox, Jeremy-Guitar, Steven-Guitar, Crutch-Bass, Charlie Drums and Jason Obrien- Sound dude/little pansy boy. Despite all the hardships many of these members have had to face throughout the years they each somehow came together to create something amazing and prevailed.
Animated Truculence has been together with their current members for about a year. “This is the first band I’ve been in and had no problems with yet, everyone is chill and we all get along so well we have good band chemistry we just want to jam” Said drummer Charlie. These guys are all friends and have been brought together by music itself; whether it’s playing with each other in a past band, just meeting up and having a good jam session as a past time or meeting through friends’, music is what ultimately brought this band together. Some of them met in their more challenging days. Guitarist Jeremy said, “Me and Crutch, our bassist actually met when we were both institutionalized in a half way house. We were roommates and I never thought we would be playing in a band together.” These guys are a bunch of goofball, passionate metal-heads. Charlie says his personality is the goof-off local fat man for hire, Jeremy’s the sporadic one, “Steven is the quiet one but with a few brews he’s just like all the rest of us”, Crutch is the crippled trouble maker, and Logan is the unstable one.
When asked what inspires each of them to play music and be in this band their responses were: “The local metal scene makes it worth it. I think that us being a part of the Amarillo metal scene, man that’s a privilege we get to play with good bands, at good places, and with good people, we have great fans. We have people come up and say “great job” and that makes it all worth it. It’s even better when we see that they keep coming back to our shows” Said Charlie “So many of our friends listen to this genre of music, we’ve all listened to metal since we were young we just love jamming” said Logan vocalist. Crutch said, “Man I just 6b

want to play bass that’s all I’m here for.” Jeremy said, “I’m here because I love music since I can remember I’ve always been driven to guitar.” Animated Truculence, means “Animated destruction with extreme brutality; war like attitude”. “The name was brained stormed within the band as a whole, we straight up looked things up in the dictionary and this is what we came up with it fits us well. We created a genre of our own its called “stainless steel” or how we would like to put it is “Heavy stainless steel”, yeah. We’ll melt your faces off.”
“To all of our fans, thanks for coming out and supporting us it’s been real nice. To the rest of you who will soon be fans get ready to start hanging and banging.” The band would like to give a thanks to a few people: Smells Like Someone’s Dead, for good shows and good relationships. Tides of Animosity, just because they’re from Pampa and they hooked us up with good shows. Dinner for the Dead, lots of family ties and because they played their first show with us and thanks for tearing it up! Eric Turley/War Legion, always been a great supporter of us and not just us but for all local bands. He’s given us awesome shows and lets us play on almost anything we want; he makes it all possible for our scene. Abolishment, for supporting, “legacy of brutality”, and to Pablo, for making our first show possible. Swashbuckle, for traveling so far to come support our scene. Eddie Perez, for recording all of our shows and supporting even though you’re not a metal fan. All RED, for putting ten years of metal of the radio and representing Amarillo. Dani, in Canyon thanks for future plays on 91.1. Last but not least to everyone who supports the scene. --Samantha Delira For booking and to check out Animated Truculence visit: www.myspace.com/animatedtruculence Upcoming shows: Aug 5th FREE show at Club Khaos Presented by War Legion. Metal Sanaz
Hard Rock | Metal Goddess, Sanaz
I do, as long as you can grab a camera and follow the bands, represent yourself with respect and dignity then you’re good to go. No groupies, not sluts! I want to get some girls and bands involved in this that deserve it.” Said Sanaz. How can girls get involved? “Well once dates are announced I will have them posted up on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and my website too. Then I will have the bookers name and number next to that city and you guys can contact them that way and tell them you want to come get involved.” “My favorite even to do was a show in Kuwait, doing a show for the troops it was the most amazing thing ever, so different from what we see on this side. We only get to see what the media shows and tells us. It was by far the best out of everything I’ve done. If you ever get a chance get out there! It’s going to change your life.” said Sanaz.
Metal Goddess, Metal Sanaz visits Club Khaos/War Legion of Amarillo to host a brutal show, Death Angel from San Diego, CA. Sanaz, from Los Angeles, CA. is making a name for herself, a name of respect, passion, and love for music. Sanaz’ main focus is to keep “the scene” alive around the world and to promote new upcoming bands that have not been discovered yet and to support the well founded legends of the Metal community.
Sanaz Born in Iran moved here to the U.S. to Dallas, TX, with her family at age five. Sanaz said “My first concert was a Black Sabbath show, with Dio, I was scared, so scared that I made my parents leave. That wasn’t enough for me though I was left so curious I had to find out what it was all about.” Ironically Sanaz is now working with some of the biggest names in the metal industry; whether it be hosting for the bands, interviewing the bands or promoting for the bands she is there. Sanaz said “When I host a show my main goal is to find new bands, bands that stick out and haven’t been discovered yet. All the bands are great but I just try to pick the best of the best and push them to get where they need to be.” Sanaz says she got started by working with www.hollywoodmusic.tv “it’s a sight full of kids interviewing bands, all kinds of bands. They asked me if I wanted to be a “VJ”, I was like what the heck is a VJ? Well a video junkie. So I went for it stated with smaller bands on MySpace and just kept going. I wasn’t something I had planned to do it just fell into my lap and I went with it.” Sanaz Says “Ultimately I am still just a fan, I’m meeting all my favorite bands it’s amazing. Sanaz says her favorite band/artist to meet and interview was Kerry King best known as the lead guitarist for American thrash metal band, Slayer. “I was so scared to go say hi to the scene
Kerry King and he ended up being one of the nicest persons I’ve met along with the whole band as well it was awesome.” When asked what band or artist she would like to work with that she has not already worked with Sanaz replied with “Rammstein, but I don’t even know if those guys speak English!”
Sanaz says her biggest challenge is keeping up with everything. “It is latterly just me, there is not big crew working together behind me. It’s me and a few of my friends. The same amount of work is put in to the bigger shows and smaller shows. That’s why any help anyone gives is so appreciated. Like I said before in the end I am still just a fan, but its amazing to see people come out wanting to meet me and wanting me to sign things and take pictures with them. I’m so appreciative and greatful for it all it makes it all so worth it. I am just in it to push for the band that’s really it.”
Some future goals Sanaz has; include --Samantha Delira starting her own clothing line which is currently in the works. Sanaz is about to do a photo shoot promoting her new clothing line which can be found at www.Lip-service.com or at www.Metalsanaz.com. It’s an edgy type of clothing be sure to check it out. Sanaz is also planning to do a “Battle of the Bands”. “I am one person and I have a plan but I cannot do it all alone. I want girls from every state to come out and join. This way we cover more area, more band exposure from all over the world. I will pick one girl from each state to do what AU G U ST 2 010
