d itor’s thoughts... T
he thing I love the most about The Scene is our constant evolution. We have a staff of eclectic, passionate people of different age ranges, interests, opinions and ideas. This creates a magazine that appeals to a wide variety of people in one way or another. I always love to brag on our Art Director, Uli, for making The Scene so gorgeous. We have a new Media Consultant, Chyrel Shultz, with an extensive radio background who has joined our staff. Chyrel has some great new ideas and we are glad to have her on our team!
W
e have also obtained some new freelance writers who are bringing new and interesting articles. They are exploring many “hidden treasures” such as new bands, clothing stores and restaurants. We would like to welcome a new writer to our staff, Samanatha Delira, a current student at Amarillo College. Samantha is actually working on a Psychology degree, but her hobby of writing on the side has brought out a passion and talent she didn’t realizewould take her life in a new direction. Samantha has a spunky personality and brought us two new band articles this month for Johnathan Torres and Humans Haunting Ghosts. I actually listened to Johnathan on MySpace and I really loved his music! Welcome aboard Samantha, we’re looking forward to more great creations from you!
Reader Comments: Hey girls! This is Teresa from Butch’s Bar B Que. I just wanted 2 drop y’all a line & say how much I enjoy the
Scene. I like reading about the bands & the new boutiques. When we’re planning a girls night out, we use the Scene 2 see what’s goin on & where. Thanx! Keep it up, ladies! Thank you Teresa for taking the time to let us know how we are doing!

The Back-Up Plan was painfully predictable and cliche. J-Lo is a woman who's given up on finding Mr. Right, so she decides to have a child through artificial insemination. Naturally once she becomes pregnant, she meets the man of her dreams. Although the blunt honesty about the messinesss of pregnancy was somewhat disgusting but funny. I wouldn't go so far as to recommend this movie, but if you were tied down and forced to watch it, you wouldn't necessarily have to chew off your own leg to get away. It's true subject isn't love so much as the comedy of pregnancy.

cristi “This was not a come back for Jennifer Lopez, it was just her getting her figure back!”
Boooring...what B Bo oo a disappointment. I was anxious to see what what Jennifer Lopez brought to the table after her ““family fam break”. She didn’t overacted as much as she uusually sua does. She was actually cute in this extremely predictable romantic comedy. She did bring a few bits of predi humor humo to the movie that made her character likable. But overall it was girl wants baby, girl gets sperm But ddonor, ono girl meets love of her life in a cab, boy is scared bbut ut sticks around, girls has “daddy abandonment” live happily ever after, blah, blah. And even iissues...they ssue tthough houg the love interest, Alex O’Loughlin (never seen hhim im before), looks hot without his shirt on, he has no personality and it’s hard to see why Lopez would stray perso ffrom rom her “Backup Plan” to be with Mr. Boring, Six-Pack, Cheese Chee Maker (literally and metiphorically speaking). Their chemistry is terrible and their closed mouth movie kisses gave me the willies. A part I did like was when Mr. Boring met a dad on the playground and he said, “having kids is aweful, aweful, aweful, and then you have one magical moment and it’s all worth it...then it’s aweful, aweful aweful”...so true.
Uli and I have been working together for almost 7 years now. We’ve become good friends through the years. Well...more like brother and sister because we have fun picking on each other! He’ll tell me to quit being bossy and I’ll tell him to put his iPod back on and “zip it”! One thing we have in common is our love of movies! So we thought it would be fun to review movies together. So we came up with “He Said...She Said”!
