WRITING COURSES
WONDER AND WIZARDRY WITH THE MAGIC HATTER
New weekly writing courses, every Saturday, starting in September.
WRITING FOR THE STAGE An introduction to the myriad possibilities of writing theatre. Aimed at enthusiastic beginners, this course will combine talks, practical exercises and group discussion on a range of topics with individual feedback and the potential for one-to-one tuition on your chosen project.
WRITING MUSICAL THEATRE If you have a song in your heart and an unnatural predilection for jazz-hands then this is the course for you. Learn why some musicals work and some don’t, determine the kind of show you want to write and gain practical advice in developing your project towards production.
EXPLORING STAND-UP COMEDY Stand-up comedy in the UK has never been more popular than it is today. If you fancy giving it a shot, come discover your voice, gain confidence and develop your style at the Grand Opera House York with honest, constructive feedback in a supportive and friendly environment. Courses led by Chris Bush, an award-winning playwright, lyricist and director, and one half of musical comedy duo Bush & McCluskey. Best known for satirical fringe hit TONY! The Blair Musical, his work has been performed to sell-out crowds across the UK. To register your interest email KateSmithson@theambassadors.com or call 01904 678 704
THE MAGIC HATTER’S SCHOOL OF WIZARDRY Back by popular demand, The Magic Hatter is returning to teach a second term of his spellbinding magic school! With wands at the ready, we invite budding young wizards to join this weekly course and learn amazing magic to dazzle friends and family. Term 2 will focus on stage magic, comedy magic and illusions... but don’t worry, we won’t saw anyone in half! Working with professional writer, director and children’s magician Dan Wood, this exciting course is suitable for complete beginners and will teach all new tricks and illusions. Each young sorcerer will receive their own mini magic set to practice with during lessons and at home. For children aged 7 to 10, the next 10 week term starts on Wednesday 27 April at 4pm and costs £90 per child. To book a place visit our friendly Box Office, call 01904 678 701 or email LizzieRichards@theambassadors.com. The Magic Hatter (aka Dan Wood) runs a busy children’s birthday party and events business. For more information visit www.magichatterbirthdays.co.uk
