GAZETTE AND HERALD
A superb cast includes Susan Penhaligon, a prolific stage actress more recently known to TV audiences as Jean Hope in Emmerdale, Robert Duncan who played Gus Hedges in the multi award-winning comedy Drop the Dead Donkey, Peter Byrne, fondly known for Dixon of Dock Green, Elizabeth Power whose most notable television role was her portrayal of Christine Hewwitt in BBC’s Eastenders and 60’s pop idol Mark Wynter. Having been forced to flee persecution in his home country, the brilliant and idealistic Professor Karl Hendryk leads a content and morally upstanding life, but his world is turned upside-down when the prospect of life-saving treatment for his invalid wife persuades him to take on a new pupil against his better judgement; the spoilt, conniving minx Helen who will stop at nothing to get her way. With murderous intentions afoot, it only remains to be seen what verdict will be delivered, and if justice will prevail.

by gill adams starring Paul Nicholas as Stephen Ward alice coulthard as Christine Keeler In 1963, the Secretary of State for war, John ‘Jack’ Profumo, was forced to resign after it was established that he had lied to the House about the nature of his relationship with a young showgirl Christine Keeler. She was also involved with a Russian spy during her affair with the Secretary of State. The ensuing scandal was in part responsible for the resignation of the Prime Minister Harold MacMillan and the suicide of the man who introduced Keeler to Profumo, Stephen Ward. Based on the 2001 biography, The Truth At Last, written by Christine Keeler with Douglas Thompson, this play reveals the sensational inside story of the infamous Profumo affair: the biggest political sex scandal to rock the British nation in the 20th century. Paul Nicholas is probably best known for the BAFTA awardwinning TV series Just Good Friends. Alice is well known for her 2 year role as Maisie Wylde in Emmerdale. Contains one scene of nudity

Based on the author’s own experience in the trenches, this gripping tale about ordinary men in extraordinary circumstances celebrates humour and courage, engaging audiences with a compelling insight of how in the face of adversity, the human spirit will always triumph. Set in St Quentin in 1917, eighteen-year-old 2nd Lieutenant Raleigh is the new arrival in the company commanded by his former schoolboy friend, Captain Stanhope. There’s only three years between them, but a lifetime of experience separates the pair as Raleigh discovers that the man in army greens is much changed from the boy he left behind in cricketing whites.

A serious comedy by Nick Fisher Directed by Robin Lefevre Dependable Miranda and her ex-husband, the smoothly charming and wholly unreliable Guy are thrown together when their faithful old family pet takes a turn for the worse. Reunited over the dog basket, Guy and Miranda find they haven’t ‘moved on’ quite as they’d imagined. When they are joined by family friend James, who rarely sees a stick without getting the wrong end of it, and Martin, the vet and long time admirer of Miranda, the scene is set for a perfectly crafted, quick witted and contemporary comedy. Basket Case is a new play by Bafta award-winning writer Nick Fisher, starring one of our most popular stage & TV actors Nigel Havers, with Christine Kavanagh as Miranda, David Cardy as James & Graham Seed as Martin, making his first stage appearance since his untimely death as Nigel Pargetter in The Archers.

Music by

the daily telegraph A new adventures production Following a record breaking West End season at the Garrick Theatre where it was nominated for Best New West End Musical 2010 by ‘What’s On Stage’ David Essex and Boogie Nights creator Jon Conway invite you to a rollercoaster ride of a musical, underscored by a helter-skelter of David Essex hits such as: Winter’s Tale, Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You A Star, Me And My Girl Nightclubbing, Silver Dream Machine, and Rock On. Inspired by David’s album, All The Fun Of The Fair, David plays fun fair owner Levi Lee, recently widowed and father of a rebellious teenage son. Like father like son, they’ll take you for a ride. Danger and mysticism lurk in the future, as predicted by the gypsy fortune teller who is in love with Levi. Dodgems and motorbikes, crafty cons and candy floss, fairground horses and fights, along with romance and rock and roll mean you’re sure to go on a rollercoaster of a ride, but beware, all is not always fun at the fair! ‘It’s a great night out’ Simon Bates Radio Legend www.allthefunofthefairmusical.com 20

This delicious theatrical feast has family-sized helpings of Matthew Bourne’s trademark wit, pathos and magical fantasy. Nutcracker! follows Clara’s bittersweet journey from a hilariously bleak Christmas Eve at Dr Dross’ Orphanage, through a shimmering, ice-skating winter wonderland to the scrumptious candy kingdom of Sweetieland. Tchaikovsky’s glorious score and Anthony Ward’s unforgettable sets and costumes combine with sizzling choreography to create a fresh and charmingly irreverent interpretation of the traditional favourite. Hailed by The Observer as ‘the undisputed king of dance theatre’, Matthew Bourne’s company New Adventures has produced some of the most successful dance productions of the last two decades including Swan Lake, Edward Scissorhands and last year’s sell-out hit, Cinderella.
