OPERA HOUSE

One of the highest grossing films of all time is now a brand new musical, created by some of the world’s greatest storytellers. ‘GHOST is a fantastic story that makes for great musical theatre,’ say composers Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. ‘It’s a roller-coaster of love, passion, revenge and comedy - all the themes of a great musical - and a score that includes the song most associated with the film, Unchained Melody.’ GHOST is the unforgettable love story of a young couple. Sam, tragically murdered and trapped as a ghost between this life and the next, faces a supernatural race against time to save Molly to prove that if you believe enough, love really can last forever. GHOST has been adapted by Bruce Joel Rubin from his own Oscar-winning screenplay and is directed by the multi-award-winning Matthew Warchus with designs by Rob Howell (RSC’s Matilda). Stage effects by Paul Kieve, (illusionist for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and choreography is by Ashley Wallen (Kylie Minogue, Black Eyed Peas).

In Manchester for a strictly limited 7 week run, experience GHOST The Musical before the rest of the world.

From producers Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Entertainment (Hairspray, High School Musical) the smash hit musical comedy Sister Act is coming to the Manchester Opera House, direct from its record breaking run at the London Palladium. When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found - a convent! Disguised as a nun she quickly finds fans amongst her fellow ‘sisters’ but makes the wrong impression on the convent’s strict Mother Superior. But when she turns her attention to the church’s off-key choir, helping the nuns to find their true voices and breathing new life into the rundown neighbourhood, her cover could be blown for good. With the gang giving chase, is time running out for Deloris? Or have they underestimated the power of her new found Sisterhood? Based on the smash hit movie of the same name, this fabulous, family-friendly, feel-good show is packed with songs inspired by Motown, funk, soul and disco. More than a million people saw Sister Act in the West End and now, as the habit hits the road in this multi-million pound production, you too can see why musical audiences fell in love with the funniest and funkiest nun on the run, and her heavenly sequinned sisters! www.SisterActTheMusical.com

This international hit landmark production which reinvented the classic musical swept the 2008 Tony Awards, played to sold-out houses on Broadway for 2 years, and is currently selling out across America. Considered one of the finest musicals ever written, the score includes Some Enchanted Evening, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and There is Nothin’ Like a Dame. Set on a tropical island during World War II, this is the sweeping romantic story of two couples, threatened by the realities of war and by their own prejudices. Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an alien culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences.
