Built in 1904, this ‘Grade A’ listed building has been a foundation stone in the social life of the people of Glasgow for over 100 years and our vision is to restore this historic theatre to its former grandeur. Over the next few years, we will be working with Historic Scotland and Glasgow City Council to make changes that will bring the theatre up to the standard rightly expected by today’s audiences. Your comfort and enjoyment when visiting the King’s is our priority, this is why we will initially focus on seat replacement, air conditioning, bars and toilets. We will carry out the work around our existing programme so you can continue to soak up the atmosphere while enjoying the very best musicals, comedy, ballet, opera and of course, pantomime. Following last year’s rave reviews from the press and our audience, this year’s Cinderella starring Gerard Kelly, Karen Dunbar and Andy Gray is selling faster than ever!

We’re set to embark on one of the most exciting journeys in the history of the King’s. Plans have been underway to restore this beautiful theatre for some time now, and thanks to a substantial initial grant from building owners, Glasgow City Council, we can begin our ambitious programme of restoration. We have already generated over £60,000 by the contribution of £1 from every King’s ticket sold. We couldn’t have done this without your generosity and continued support.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
KIDS SHOWS
The King’s programme is financially supported by Glasgow City Council.
‘The King’s Theatre is my favourite place to perform bar none. The atmosphere and the audience are unique to that building and I am delighted that, at last, she is to be restored to her former glory. Both she and her audience deserve it. I hope this is a sign that she will still be serving up first class entertainment to the people of Glasgow in another hundred years’ Gerard Kelly

Except for one tiny thing... the ladies are not naked, they’re nude. THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES Mon 25 - Sat 30 Aug
We are delighted to welcome back the award-winning, critically acclaimed musical Sunshine On Leith. If you were unlucky enough to miss it the first time, this is your chance! And for those of you that didn’t hear about it - this is one show you really can’t afford to miss! This must-see musical is packed with hits from the The Proclaimers and performed by Dundee Rep’s award-winning ensemble. A superb, fun and deeply moving night’s entertainment, Sunshine On Leith follows the highs and lows of Ally and Dave as they return home from the army. Families, relationships and life in Leith are not all plain sailing in this truly exceptional love story about everyday life in Scotland. Sunshine On Leith is a large cast extravaganza with live music and a string of the Fife-born twins’ favourite hits like I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), I’m on My Way, Letter from America and lots more. A spectacular event not just for fans of The Proclaimers but for anyone who just loves a good night out. This is the hot ticket of the season - it sold out before it opened last year so be sure to book your seats early!
