2015 AOPA National Assembly

Welcome to San Antonio and a Memorable Experience! GREAT THINGS HAVE HAPPENED since our last visit to San Antonio in 1995 and you’ll have a chance to see them all—the new hotels, famous Riverwalk additions and of course exciting restaurants and entertainment. No question about it, San Antonio is a city with special charms. But of course that’s not why you’re here. The most important reason has everything to do with your business, patient care, your profession, and the future of O&P. The AOPA National Assembly is the only meeting where you can find solid answers to the vexing challenges that keep you up at night. Your San Antonio experience will help you make the kind of decisions that will best assure your future and your ability to deliver quality patient care. Our supplier exhibitors will show all they have to offer to guide you to successful patient outcomes and business decisions. Most importantly, the partnership patient care facilities have with their suppliers takes on a very important meaning each National Assembly. Seeing the latest in innovative technology and product development is critical for your practice, but even more important is the opportunity to build on relationships with suppliers and peers. The camaraderie that develops at this meeting leads us all to make sure we do the very best for the people whose mobility, quality of life, and personal safety depends on our profession. Every year your dedicated colleagues who serve on the National Assembly Planning Committee including those under this year’s chair, Chris Nolan, work to make each Assembly better than the one before. They have added additional “Wow” moments to make your trip to the meeting even more valuable and rewarding. As an example, among this year’s many innovations are the expanded opportunities for networking and building alliances. The traditional golf outing has been transformed so more attendees can easily participate. This will be a simulated experience at Topgolf. The proceeds support AOPA’s Capitol Connection and OPAF, the O&P Activities Fund. This is a fun way to contribute to our legislative community affairs efforts. A special highlight will be the numerous presentations reporting on AOPA’s research agenda, especially Prosthetics 2020, a very important project aimed at getting you better reimbursements. Research plays an important role in what you can provide to patients and how you are reimbursed for your work. AOPA has been at the forefront of funding appropriate research. This year’s meeting will provide reports on the successful results of that research including systematic literature researches, comparative effectiveness studies, and cost effectiveness studies. It is all really GOOD STUFF! We have proof that O&P care provides outcomes and saves money. Tune in to these presentations. More than 35 CEs are yours for the taking and the star studded lineup of speakers will make it a quality experience as well as a professionally rewarding use of your time. General Information ATTIRE

AOPA ANTITRUST COMPLIANCE POLICY AOPA has a policy of strict compliance with federal and state antitrust laws which serve to prohibit agreements, combinations and conspiracies in restraint of trade. Attendees at the AOPA National Assembly should avoid discussing certain subjects when they are together at any formal or informal gathering. The following guidelines are to be adhered to at all times during the Assembly: • DO NOT discuss prices, fees or rates, or features that can impact prices such as discounts, costs, terms and conditions of sale, warranties, or profit margins. • DO NOT agree with competitors as to uniform terms of sale, warranties or contract provisions. • DO NOT exchange data concerning fees, prices, production, sales, bids, costs, customer credit, or other business practices. • DO NOT agree with competitors to divide up customers, markets or territories. • DO NOT agree with competitors not to deal with certain suppliers or others. • DO NOT try to prevent a supplier from selling to your competitor(s). • DO NOT discuss your customers with your competitors. • DO leave any meeting (formal or informal) where improper subjects are being discussed. AOPA has adopted a policy of business casual attire for the 2015 AOPA National Assembly. The Welcome Reception is also casual.

BADGES AND TICKETS Badges must be worn to all functions. Your badge is your pass to the Exhibit Hall and the education sessions. It also ensures that you are able to greet and be greeted by name by your colleagues and friends. Unless noted otherwise, optional events require tickets. Please remember to bring your tickets with you to the event. If you ordered tickets with your advance registration, you will find them with your badge. If you are missing tickets, please go to registration for verification and replacement. There will be a $50 fee for the replacement of a lost badge.

The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics www.bocusa.org (ABC) has approved a total of 32.75 continuing education (CE) credits for the 2015 AOPA National Assembly and the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) has approved 35.75 CE Credits. Generally, one credit is awarded per session hour. Specific rules apply to specific disciplines. Exhibit Hall credits are available by completing the Exhibits Passbook or exhibit hall forms available from ABC and BOC. Representatives from ABC and BOC will be available during the Assembly to answer your questions. Many programs run concurrently, so you will only be able to earn credits for the programs that you actually attend. AOPA will be tracking all credits electronically during the Assembly. To receive credit, please scan your badge at the beginning of each session. Please note that your Assembly badge may be scanned at only one concurrent session at a time. Those scanning at multiple concurrent sessions will not receive credit. Full-conference registrants will receive a certificate of attendance. You will also find exhibit hall credit forms in your meeting attaché bag.

CHILDREN A special registration category has been created at a reduced rate for children ages 11-17. Children under 11 are allowed in the exhibit hall, but must be supervised at all times. There is no registration fee or badge required for children ages 10 and under.

COMPLIMENTARY FOOD AND BEVERAGE Complimentary continental breakfasts and lunches are available for Full Conference meeting attendees. Your lunch tickets for Thursday and Friday are included with your Full Conference badge. Be sure to bring your ticket with you each day. Lunch will be served in the Exhibit Hall. Continental breakfast will be served on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in conjunction with the general session. Check the Program Overview for exact times.

EXHIBIT HALL CREDITS ABC certified practitioners can earn (3) three CE credits for touring the Exhibit Hall and BOC certified practitioners can earn up to five (5) CE credits by completing the Exhibits Passbook or CE Credit Form. To receive credit, you must submit the completed Exhibits Passbook or an application with the required documentation directly to your certifying board or drop off at the AOPA booth (#637). Applications will be available at the ABC booth (#565) and the BOC booth (#378) located in the Exhibit Hall. You will also find the Exhibits Passbook and forms in your meeting attaché bag.

Each year the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) presents the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor is bestowed on individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of orthotics and prosthetics. The AOPA Board of Directors is proud to name Thomas V. DiBello, CO, FAAOP as the recipient of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award.
