American Technical Publishers Kicks off “Culinary Rock Stars” Campaign at ACF ChefConnect 2017 Orland Park, IL – American Technical Publishers (ATP) launched a new campaign to promote their culinary arts and hospitality training materials for “Creating the Next Generation of Culinary Rock Stars” at the ACF ChefConnect conferences held recently in Chicago on Feb. 5-7 and in New York City on Feb. 26-28. The prize was a “Practice Makes Perfect” kit that included the recently published 50 Effective Knife Techniques textbook and a 7” Santoku knife, created by CCI Professional Chef Tools in Canada. The winners were notified via email and announced on social media, including the ATP twitter handle @ATP_Connect. In Chicago, the winners were: Tom Ryan, CEC, CCA, director of Food Service at Presence Resurrection Retirement Center (IL), Christine Grefe, marketplace culinary supervisor at Grinnell College (IA), and Brandon Griffin, culinary arts student at Indian Hills Community College (IA). In honor of their “rocking” victories, ATP gave each of the winning teams’ programs a “Practice Makes Perfect Coach” kit. This kit is for teaching and demonstrating knife cuts included a 100% bamboo cutting board shaped like Fender™ Stratocaster™ guitar (in keeping with the campaign theme), a copy of 50 Effective Knife Techniques [ISBN 9780826942418], the companion Knife Techniques Videos DVD [ISBN 9780826942425], and a 7” Santoku knife. Individual team members received a copy of The Chef’s Répertoire [ISBN 9780826942357] by Gui Alinat.
To prepare for the Jeopardy-style competition, team members studied from a number of training resources, including Culinary Math Principles and Applications 2E [ISBN 9780826942371] by Michael J. McGreal CEC, CCE, CHE, FMP, CHA, MCFE and Linda J. Padilla; Culinary Arts Principles and Applications Second Edition [ISBN 9780826942289] by Michael J. McGreal; and Culinary Nutrition Principles and Applications [ISBN 9780826942210] by Linda J. Trakselis, MS, and Eric M. Stein, MS, RD, CCE. All titles were published by ATP. There can be no doubt-chefs have become today’s rock stars. This is shown in the rise of star chefmaking media, such as Top Chef and The Food Network, and in the enthusiasm of foodies everywhere. Nowadays, the prestige of a much-sought reservation at the latest, hot restaurant rivals that of a ticket to the Grammys.
