Midwest Children’s Choir Festival to be April 26 The Midwest Children’s Choir Festival will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at Stephens Auditorium in Ames. The festival is sponsored by the Ames Children’s Choirs and will feature guest conductor Elizabeth McFarland, well-known choral educator
from Southeast Missouri State University. Three guest choirs will perform separately: the Siouxland Youth Chorus, the Urbandale Middle School Choir and the Ames Children’s Choirs. Then, select singers from across the state of Iowa will join the featured choirs to perform in the
Festival Mass Choir, totaling 365 singers. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for students/seniors and are available at the Stephens Ticket Office or through TicketMaster @ 1-800-7453000. For more information, call (515) 290-1422.
Call for performers for 25th Senior Variety Show The Senior Variety Show for 2019 has officially launched. Show directors are calling for performers 60 years of age and older to audition for a special 25th anniversary show. “Celebrating Silver, Creating Gold� will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Ames City Auditorium. Local seniors are encouraged to try out for this year’s production. Vocal numbers, instrumentals, skits, story-telling, and dance presentations around the theme of “silver, gold, shiny objects, anniversary, etc.� would be appropriate. Acts should be no more than three minutes long. Auditions will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, April 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. on, Tuesday, April 9, and from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10, all at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
