A grant from the Ames Home Builders Association provided funds for Martha’s House of Hope to purchase one set of CPR manikins for volunteer and resident CPR training. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
Martha’s House of Hope receives grant funds from Ames Home Builders Association In January 2020, Martha’s House of Hope was the recipient of a $650 grant from the Ames Home Builders Association to purchase CPR training manikins. This provided funds for Martha’s House of Hope to purchase one set of CPR manikins for volunteers and residents to use to complete CPR training. This purchase al-
lows Martha’s House of Hope (MHOH) to do all volunteer training
in-house so that volunteers can begin serving the needs of our
residents, as MHOH’s executive director is certified by the American Red Cross to facilitate First Aid, CPR, and AED training. It also allows MHOH to train its residents on CPR so they have this skill as new parents. Martha’s House of Hope is a maternity home in Ames. The organization’s goal is to provide shelter, life skills and hope
to pregnant mothers and their babies while helping to impart selfreliance, a sense of service and the realization of their God-given dignity. To learn more about the organization, visit www.marthashouseofhope.org. Martha’s House of Hope is grateful to the Ames Home Builders Association for its financial support.

health — the need to get adequate sleep; engaging in adequate exercise; living experiences of joy; and good and proper nutrition. She proposed yard signs to remind and encourage good mental health for all to see. Nevada FFA Greenhouse ‘Grab & Go’ curbside activity With all school activities cancelled due to COVID-19 biosecurity measures, Nevada High School agriculture education & FFA had to determine a plan for the spring greenhouse crop of geranium baskets, owering annuals, and some vegetables. Superintendent Steve Gray suggested a “Grab & Goâ€? curbside plant activity. Instead of sales, community members could make a donation on-line utilizing RevTrak, or mail in a donation. On Thursday, April 23, the plants were set out on the FFA hayrack & trailer for curbside pickup start-

By end of day Monday, April 27th over $1,245 had been donated through RevTrak and mailed in checks. “It is great that we have been able to get these plants out to the community, but I look forward to when students can be back at school greeting customers, pricing plant products, and managing retail business! mentioned Kevin Cooper, Nevada High School agriculture education instructor and FFA advisor.
