WINTER CYCLING AT TORRENT Come talk winter cycling at Torrent Brewing company over a tasty brew at 6 p.m. This event is for anyone interested in expanding their riding through the winter months whether it be commuting, ďŹ tness, or leisure riding (experienced winter warriors are welcome as well). ANIMAL RESCUE TOY DRIVE This month, visit JAX Outdoor Gear and purchase or drop off an item to donate to help a rescued animal at Story County Animal Shelter have a wonderful holiday season. Choose from a selection of leashes, chews, and toys in the store, or you can drop off other useful donations, such as food, garbage bags, or paper towels. Story County Animal Control aids in housing and care for abandoned and roaming domestic pets, animal neglect cases, as well as investigating bites and wildlife encounters with the citizens of Story County.

EXHIBIT “Nuances of Freedom,â€? a solo show by acrylic painter Melynda Van Zee, will open and continue through Feb. 6, 2019, in the Gallery on the third oor of the Iowa State University Memorial Union, 2229 Lincoln Way, Ames. The club members lear ned a lot from Sue, the director of the Stor y County Animal Shelter, about the care and kinds of animals tha t currently are a t the shelter and the renova tions tha t are under way to expand the ser vices offered.
