Youth joined together for weekend of serving others Fourteen servants left Amlin UMC on Friday, February 15. By the following Monday, a home was transformed through God’s love. Our Amlin missionaries left Canton physically tired but spiritually fulfilled! The President’s Day weekend mission trip, a tradition at Amlin UMC, was very successful. The group of adults and youth worked tirelessly, accomplishing demolition, home repairs, and interior painting throughout the two-story home. We served a homeowner who had served previously as a social worker. Following a brutal attack by a client, her disability and further health problems left her with both cognitive and physical impairment. Our new friend

Deb was certainly appreciative of our church’s care for her, and she enjoyed talking with us, praying with us, and even ministering to us as we ministered to her! We are grateful to Hammer and Nails, a local ministry which links other churches and groups with people in need. They provided us with tools, supplies, skilled support, and a beautiful retreat house where we spent our recreational and sleep time. We are also grateful to folks at Amlin UMC who provided scholarship funding, so all who chose to serve would be able to participate. An additional highlight from the trip involved worshipping at a United Methodist church in North Canton. After receiving a tour and departing, our

mission team discussed similarities and differences with our two churches, and discussed new ideas we could bring to Amlin UMC. Prayer and devotional times also occurred several times each day. Social highlights included playing card games, including a serious and injuryproducing game of “spoons,” and lots of singing, including an amazing and memorable youth rendition of the a capella sudden hit, “I am Cow.” (Look for the first public performance soon at a church near you…) We’ll be announcing the dates of a summer mission trip in the next few months. Please prayerfully consider joining us next time!

A Letter to Our Church Dear Members of Amlin United Methodist Church, How nice of you to prepare the reception for Ed’s service. It brought back good memories of pot-luck sharing times. Amlin held a special place in Ed’s heart and he spoke often of the church. Many blessings as you continue your ministry in this area. With Best Wishes, Eleanor Cherryholmes

Would you help with a service ministry on Sundays?

Please take attendance at church events

We are looking for new people willing to commit to serving as Lay Reader, Usher, Greeter, or Nursery Volunteer. Our hope is to get enough people not already serving so the rotation will be one time every two or three months. This is a very easy but very important way to help! Please contact Eugene Pauley at sepauley@aol.com or 614-570-8706 and he will get you signed up! Thank you for your consideration!

Would you help clean God’s house? Our church is seeking God’s servants willing to rotate weekly cleaning/custodial duties in the NLC. You will share a turn no more than once a month. This will be light to moderate cleaning, restocking of bathroom supplies, and other miscellaneous duties that can be performed at your convenience. Checklist provided. For interest in helping with the NLC cleaning, please contact Bev Hart at bhart@worly.com or 614519-3971.

We are recording attendance at all Amlin UMC meetings/events for reporting to the UMC. We will be using attendance sheets at all church functions. If you are in charge of the meeting or, even just attending, please be sure these sheets are completed. The sheets will be available on the Welcome Desk in the New Life Center and on the table in Fellowship Hall. Thank you for your cooperation!

Don't be a stranger! Please be sure to sign in! We are starting to take advantage of more functionality in our church management system. Part of this involves more robust attendance tracking than Amlin has done in the past. In order to ensure accuracy, please sign the friendship pad as it passes by on Sunday morning. If you have recently moved or are unsure whether the church has your current address/phone/ email, please include those as well. Thank you! Amlin Unite

New children’s choir meets between services The joy of music continues to spread throughout Amlin! Christian Mateos, who attends the second service, has started a children’s choir at Amlin. The choir is for children in the 6th grade and younger. Practices are

every Sunday in the Chapel, immediately following the first service (approximately 10:30) until 10:50. The first performance was on Feb. 10 and the second performance date will be announced soon! If you have any questions, contact Christian at mateos0412@yahoo.com or 614572-4589.

The tile flooring that was in the chapel building was from the 1970s. New carpet brightens the space.

New carpet installed in chapel Through the generosity of an Amlin church family, new carpet has been installed in the business office, fellowship hall, and the foyer areas. The installation was approved by our trustees. The prior tile floor was damaged in many areas, and was original to the addition in the 1970s. We are grateful to the family who donated the carpet, as well as other servants who moved furniture and appliances for the installation. If you'd like to make a special gift beyond your weekly offering to improve our facilities, please see Trustee Chair Bob Cook, Pastor Jennifer, or Pastor Steve. Gifts are typically given anonymously, unless in honor or memory of a loved one
