Diversity & Inclusion
IT ALL STARTS WITH
THE MINDSET!
In order to continue fostering confidence, enrichment, and professional success for women, during the month of October, we held various sessions on an important topic in the business world: agility. Organizations talk about wanting to "be more agile," but at the end of the day, agility is simply a structured approach to dealing with the unprecedented pace of change we are experiencing in the world. It is a set of mindsets, behaviors, and tools designed to help us separate signals from noise when prioritizing our time and effort and to harness the power of collaboration, diversity, and creativity in our work.
In this Agile miniseries, we discussed the four pillars of agility as an ecosystem: Break down silos: Blurring cross-functional lines to ensure we have diverse viewpoints to solve problems creatively and collaboratively. Adopt a growth mindset: An intentional change in the way we think and approach problems to help us see challenges in a different way and unlock creative ways to solve them. Focus on outcomes: Clearly defining what we're trying to achieve and why, through a new and different way of planning and prioritizing. Test & learn: Rapid experiments enable fast feedback loops that provide data to help us make informed decisions and change direction as needed. 18 | The Star Stories
Diversity & Inclusion
DURING THE SESSIONS, THEY SHARED A PRACTICAL TOOL FOR TEAMS TO REACH THEIR RESULTS MORE AGILELY. THE STEPS TO FOLLOW ARE: 1.
Analyze the impact.
2.
Define which strategy should be prioritized.
3.
Determine the behavior that will be modified with this action plan.
4.
Assess our impact on this change.
5.
Identify the value proposition and benefits these results will bring.
As leaders, we are responsible for establishing alignment and autonomy in our teams, defining desired goals and impacts, as well as encouraging transparency among colleagues. As a team, we can use results-driven approaches to align according to the best working method and apply different tools to reach our goals.

VOLUNTEERING IN
DIRIA NATIONAL PARK Diria National Park is located in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, where it preserves the water that arrives to the entire area of Pampa de Guanacaste, Santa Cruz, Nicoya, Abangares, and other cantons. Therefore, on October 13th , our colleagues from this destination: Ingrid Sanchez, Karina Chavarria, Luis Carlos Ortiz, Jose Talavera and Roberto Rojas, contributed to the maintenance of the facilities that serve groups of students and volunteers on one of the main trails in the national park, with a length of 800 meters. Protected areas in Costa Rica have a limited budget and a limited human resource, so the participation of corporate volunteers is very valuable to cover improvements and maintenance in these areas that conserve and protect the country's natural resources.
A total of 6 companies and 30 people participated in the volunteering effort. Amstar Amstar also donated tools for the use of the National Park, always demonstrating our commitment to caring for our community and the environment. 34 | The Star Stories

CREATING SMILES
AT THE ENRIQUE BALTODANO HOSPITAL
In Costa Rica, about 7,500 cases of cancer are diagnosed per year. Last Thursday, October 19th, Ingrid Sanchez, Diego Matute, Roy Vargas, Rebeca Escobar and Roberto Rojas of the Amstar Costa Rica team, visited the facilities of the Enrique Baltodano Briceño Hospital, where they held three workshops on crafts, making and decorating piggy bank, making an angel using macrame technique and making bracelets, guided by a teacher in charge of giving the instructions for each of the activities. The workshops were aimed at patients from the Oncology and Radiology area of the Hospital, with whom they carried out recreational activities to share an unforgettable moment, embracing them with empathy so that they continue to find strength and encouragement at this stage of their life.
Amstar shows that our purpose is not only applied within the company, we also share it externally to continue creating a world of care in our community. The Star Stories | 35

Together we achieve
more!
On October 25th, colleagues from the Commercial & Business and ALGV Revenue Management departments came together to make several donations of school supplies, toys, and a laptop to the Arrecifes de Tulu School, founded by Miss Lucy. After the pandemic, she took it upon herself to gather the children in one of the community houses to teach them how to read and write. As of today, they have more than 150 children who, after their regular classes, go to this little school to do their homework, and those who don't have the opportunity to attend regular school learn the basics there. We also engaged in in-person activities with the children, such as making piñatas, playing soccer, and doing "Tye-dye" (painting little backpacks). These actions allow us to make a positive impact on the lives of others through care, empathy, and wellbeing.
Thank you for taking care of others so they can reach their best! 36 | The Star Stories

Health & Wellness
What is mental health? As defined by the World Health Organization, mental health is a state of mental wellbeing that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well, work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and wellbeing that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and shape the world we live in. Mental health is a basic human right. And it is crucial to personal, community and socio-economic development. Learn more here. In honor of World Mental Health Day, Hyatt conducted virtual sessions with Healthy Minds Innovations and Headspace to assist colleagues in learning about mental health, wellbeing, and practicing mindfulness.
