Rising expectations from India One of the reasons that the Indian water market is so vibrant is the major investments being made by the government. An ambitious plan was recently unveiled aimed at tackling the country’s persistent shortcomings in the basic water supply infrastructure. Some 131 billion rupees ($ 2.2 billion) has been pledged for water projects that improve supplies and the condition of the Ganges, India’s largest river. The government also is offering tax credits and other incentives to the private sector to bring creative solutions to the table and invest in the nation’s infrastructure.
