ARTIST’S PROFILE/BIO
Maung Di Born in 1941, Pokkoku district, Maung Di drew since he was young. He worked as a cartoonist at Bahosi Newspaper in Mandalay from 1959-1962. He travelled to Yangon and worked as an illustrator for various magazines under the name of Myo Nyunt from 1959-1995. He studied Art at the State School of Fine Art, Yangon from 1967 to 1970. He began showing objects d’art at Alliance Francaises in Yangon in 1969 and simultaneously began using the artist name of Maung Di. He joined in modern art group exhibitions, wrote poems, short stories and articles and continued to make art. He has had many solo shows in Yangon, at galleries including Beikthano, Lokanat, and Ahla Thit Art Gallery.

Htein Lin Htein Lin is a Burmese artist (painting, installation, performance) and writer, and has also been a comedian and actor. Born in 1966 in Ingapu, Ayeyarwady Division, he was active in the 1988 student movement at Rangoon University where he studied law. Going underground after the military takeover, he spent almost four years in a refugee camp in Indian border. and in an ABSDF (Northern Branch) student rebel camp at Pajau on the Chinese border. Escaping and returning to Yangon in May 1992, He held two solo shows in 1996 and 1997. Arrested in 1998 and jailed on spurious accusations of opposition activity, he spent almost seven years in jail (1998-2004). During this time he developed his artistic practice, using items available to him like bowls and cigarette lighters in the absence of brushes to make paintings and monoprints on the cotton prison uniform. Htein Lin pioneered performance art in Burma in 1996 and continued to perform for fellow inmates while in prison. Following his release, his Rangoon street performance ‘Mobile Art Gallery/Mobile Market’ in May 2005 led to 5 more days of interrogation. During the period 2006-2011 he also performed in the UK and Thailand, at the US Library of Congress (2009) and at festivals and events in Finland, France, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. Many of his performances are intended to raise awareness of the political situation in Burma. Since leaving Burma for the first time in 2006, Htein Lin regularly participates in exhibitions and art festivals globally, as well as events and projects to promote freedom of speech, particularly in Burma. Maung Day Maung Day is a Burma-born poet, artist, translator and development worker living and working in Yangon. He has published seven poetry books in Burmese and one chapbook “Gasoline” in English. His poems have appeared in international journals such as Guernica, the Awl, the Wolf, International Poetry Review, Asymptote and Shampoo. In the 2000’s, he edited several art and literary magazines and weekly journals. In 2008, with Moe Satt, he co-founded the celebrated Beyond Pressure International Performance Festival. His first solo exhibition debuted in Bangkok at H Project Space in 2011, curated by Brian Curtin, a renowned art curator. Maung Day has also shown his artworks in Germany, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Japan and Vietnam.
Min Zaw Min Zaw (born 1972, Myanmar) earned his art degree from Yangon, State School of Fine Art with a thesis on the art of Bagyi Aung Soe. Since the 1990s, Min Zaw has had many exhibitions in Yangon, from the early days in the famous Lokanat Gallery, to the River Gallery, and now as the resident artist in Studio Square. His first exhibition in Singapore in 2000, titled “Through Myanmar Eyes,” was in Art Seasons Gallery. Since then, Min Zaw has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, and the USA. His works are in the collections of the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and Singapore Art Museum and in numerous private collections from Asia to the United States of America. The artworks in “Min Zaw – New Landscape” feature elaborate acrylic paper collage works of townscapes, rural landscapes, and temples in Bagan. These artworks are simplistic, impressionistic and yet an abstract take on Min Zaw’s style at its best.
Zun Ei phyu I had been participating over 10 abroad exhibitions at Austria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and Indonesia from 2011-2017. And 2 solo exhibitions at Tokyo, Japan and Kuala Lumpure, Malaysia . I also participated in more than 20 groups’ exhibition in Myanmar including an exhibition at National Museum, Myanmar since 1999 till now.I was selected as Young Talented Artist by Ion Orchard Singapore for Affordable Art Fair Singapore 2015. I was included in “Myanmar Painting-from worship to self-imaging” Book by Evoheritage, Vietnam, as young female artist. I got Golden Price in Fukuoka Child Art Competition (1997).On 2011, I went for 2weeks art exchange program at Bali, Ubud, Indonesia. On 2012 I went for 3 months “creators’ artist in residency” program at Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo, Japan where I also gave Artist Talk at Tokyo Art University. On 2014 I went for 2months residency at Rimbun Dahan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. And on 2015 I went for 2 weeks “Cross Border International”
Kyaw Htoo Bala Kyaw Htoo Bala ( b. 1992 Myanmar ) . A Fine Arts photography graduate from Lasalle College Of The Arts Singapore. He received his Diploma in Computer Arts from National University of Art and Culture, Myanmar (2012). From 2011, he started pursuing art. He has taken part in Lasalle Showcase exhibitions starting from the year of 2015 to 2017. He worked a four-month internship as junior curator at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore. He is particularly interested in Digital Arts, Photography based arts and Installation Art. He is fond of human behaviors and storytelling. Most of his visual arts are translated from texts which he composes first. He gets inspirations from literature, movies and music. He loves walking slowly and rainy mornings and working as a freelance artist/ art director in the city of Yangon.
Nathalie Johnston Education: 2010 M.A. Contemporary Art History with a focus on Southeast Asia, University of Manchester with Sotheby’s Institute, Singapore . 2006 B.A. Fine Art, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nathalie Johnston is Founder and Director of Myanm/art, Gallery and art space and co-founder of MARCA Myanmar Art Resource centre and Archive . She was investigates contemporary Myanmar art and promotes artists to local and international audiences. Since 2009 lived and work in Yangon, Nathalie Johnston (United States/Myanmar) is a curator and researcher currently in Yangon where she has been involved in numerous independent projects and initiatives. In 2016, she founded Myanm/art, an exhibition space, gallery, and reading room dedicated to promoting contemporary art in Myanmar by developing collaborations and showcasing artists’ works to local and international audiences. In 2013, she co-founded Myanmar Art Resource Center and Archive (MARCA), an archive and resource centre that aims to become the largest bilingual digital resource on the history and current state of the arts in Myanmar. Johnston is also the director of the art initiative TS1 Yangon and co-founder of Pyinsa Rasa art collective.
Soe Yu Nwe Soe Yu Nwe (born.1989) is an artist from Myanmar. After earning a MFA degree in Ceramics at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in 2015, Soe has been participating in numerous residencies in the United States and across Asia. Her experience of living cross-culturally has inspired her to reflect upon her own identity through making, conceiving it as a fluid, fragile and fragmented entity. Through transfiguration of her emotional landscape by poetically depicting nature and body in parts, she ponders the complexities of individual identity in this rapidly changing globalized society. Soe’s work has been exhibited internationally. Her recent exhibitions includes the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (Australia), 2018 Dhaka Art Summit (Bangladesh), The New Taipei City Yingge Ceramic Museum (Taiwan), Yavuz Gallery (Singapore), ZieherSmith in Chelsea, New York (USA), The National Gallery of Indonesia, Jakarta (Indonesia), and a solo exhibition at Myanm/art, Yangon (Myanmar). Recently, Soe has become an invited member of IAC (International Academy of Ceramics) as the first member from Myanmar. Her work has been recently acquired by the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia. Soe is also a finalist for 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30: Art & Style.
Thynn Lei Nwe (b. 1991) is a painter based in Yangon. She studied fine arts specialized in painting at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. She works in different mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics. This exhibition is about a series of drawings mainly focusing on creating and recapturing the imaginary scenes of her memories in the past two years.
Ko Latt Ko latt was born in Yangon, 28, was raised in Mon State, near the Thai border. Started art since childhood in hobby of drawing. After university of Economis, he decideed to attend free art class of New Zero Art space in Yangon, then he came a performance and visual artist.
3 AM Started in 2016 at a group exhibition in Stockholm, 3AM, comprised of 3 artists - Ma Ei, Yadanar and Ko Latt - are a group performance and fine art trio who experiment and collaborate in order to create synergy through body, materials, time and space.

ထို႔အတြက္ အႏုပညာရွင္မ်ားကိုေတြ႔ဆံုေမးျမန္းျပီး ဖန္တီးခဲ့ေသာ(သို႔မဟုတ္) ဖန္တီးေနဆဲ လက္ရာတို႔ကို အသားေပးေရြးထုတ္ ေဖၚျပသြားမည္ျဖစ္ျပီး ေျဖၾကားမႈမ်ားကို လက္ရာမ်ားႏွင့္အတူ ဒီဗီဒီတြင္ ထည့္သြင္းေဖၚျပ မည္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။ ဒီဗီဒီအစီစဥ္မ်ားကို ပံုႏွိပ္စာအုပ္လည္းထုတ္ေ၀သြားဖို႔ပါရွိသလို ယခုအၾကိမ္တြင္ ဒီဗီဒီအခ်က္ လက္မ်ားႏွင့္ဗီဒီယိုမ်ား အြန္လိုင္းတြင္ ကိုယ္ပိုင္၀က္ဘ္ေပ့ခ်္သီးသန္႔တစ္ခုျဖင့္ တင္ထားႏိုင္ရန္လည္း One Asia Lawyer ၏ AURA Art Project မွ ကူညီေပးသြားမည္ျဖစ္ပါသည္။
