ANANKEMAG
Ananke is a new media & development platform creating inclusive conversations in the digital realm. It was launched in 2014 initially as a digital media entity documenting women's achievements, showcasing them as role models for aspiring women and girls to emulate. Ananke has evolved into a forum that aims to highlight issues across the Global South under a gender lens. The platform also publishes special editions on the ISSUU platform (http://issuu.com/anankemag). Ananke’s flagship program, Empower, is a digital fellowship launched in 2016. The program has trained and mentored more than 100 girls from all over the world including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Cameroon, Morocco, Pakistan, India, the UAE, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Russia, Australia, Bahamas and more. In 2021, Ananke organized the groundbreaking Ananke Women in Literature Festival (AnankeWLF) - a digital literary event opening dialogue focusing the literary and publishing landscapes across MENA and South Asian regions. With eminent literary and publishing figures including Zubaan Books' Urvashi Butalia, Seagull Books' Naveen Kishore and Neem Tree Press' Archna Sharma as advisors, Ananke established the collective Ananke Women in Literature Foundation to continue the conversations, which are initiated in the festival (held successfully on a yearly basis). All sessions organized under the AnankeWLF umbrella can be viewed on Ananke's YouTube Page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOKaCUpgf3kaUOe5ZY6XBIw Ananke has been nominated twice by the World Summit on Information Society Prizes (2019 & 2020) for its digitally inclusive work on gender. Ananke is a Generation Equality Commitment Maker.
