Kids have their say! Over 100 local children had the opportunity to have their say on the new adventure play area at V36. During a series of interactive workshops, children were invited to ‘draw their ideal adventure’ which included the type, size and colour of equipment, and the theme that they would like to see in the new play area. Parents also had the opportunity to share their views during the public consultation events which were held earlier in the year.
A trampoline
Two big slides, one of which is swirly
A large swing for accessibility
Other suggestions included: ◗ Climbing structures for both smaller and bigger kids, including a human jenga, ladders, walls and ropes ◗ Zip line ◗ Tree houses and several other tall features for children to have their own creative adventures.

Fit and Active aged 88! At 88 years of age and still instructing fitness classes, Marie is a great inspiration to anyone wanting to lead a fit and active lifestyle.
What classes do you currently teach? I take Over 50’s classes at the Valley Leisure Centre and usually start off with a Keep Fit class followed by Line Dancing. I also teach Dance and Drama to girls on a Friday afternoon. I love dancing and even now I can still do my high kicks!
What hobbies do you have? Nice big walks along the beach are great. I try to walk as much as I can instead of using transport but I also enjoy gardening in my spare time.
What made you get in to fitness? From age 16, I worked in the theatre industry, dancing. This lead on to taking fitness classes which I have been doing now for 30 years. I am also a qualified gymnastics coach, so keeping active has always been a big part of my lifestyle.
What would you say to people in the prime of their life? I would say that there is no point sitting about, you will just seize up! It’s important to get active and stay active and there is no better way than coming to my classes!!
