Teatro Alla Scala: The Temple of Wonders is the story of one of the world’s most exclusive music and performing arts venues.
In spring 2015 Milan paid tribute to Leonardo Da Vinci by holding an extraordinary exhibition event at the Palazzo Reale. Leonardo Da Vinci: The Genius In Milan explores his work as never seen before, telling the story of the artist’s world and the treasures he left us.
St Peter’s And The Papal Basilicas Of Rome brings completely new footage of St Peter’s, St John Lateran, St Mary Major, St Paul Outside The Walls and the works of art enshrined within them to the big screen.
The film leads us through the main historical, musical, social and political events in La Scala’s 238-year history. The story is beautifully brought to life on the big screen through statements and commentary from musicians, experts and aficionados, and features photographs, musical scores, paintings and videos from centuries of archive material.
Pietro Marani, the curator of the 2015 exhibition, and some of the world’s leading experts on Leonardo tell a story that could open new perspectives and reveal extraordinary things about Leonardo Da Vinci the painter, sculptor, scientist, anatomist, botanist and architect.
Antonio Paolucci, director of the Vatican Museums, Paolo Portoghesi, internationally renowned architect, Claudio Strinati, celebrated art historian, and Micol Forti, director of the Vatican Museums Collection Of Contemporary Art, guide us through the story of the basilicas, their evolution over the centuries and their most famous works of art.

By the Edwardian era, the McKinney’s well-appointed house, Sentry Hill, was evidence of the prosperity and social status they attained through their successful farming in South Antrim. The McKinney’s could not have foreseen the flood of carnage and destruction that would sweep across the European continent in 1914. It was a tide of effects that would be felt across the island of Ireland and the rest of the world. Sentry Hill would not escape untouched as young Tom McKinney, the heir to the farm, joined the Royal Fusiliers in 1914 and died on July 19th, 1916 as a result of his injuries at the Battle of the Somme. The play Tom is his story, based on his letters and journals. Written and Directed by Philip Johnston.

Prepare to be amazed, dazzled & bewildered by Cahoots NI’s mind-blowing production Danny Carmo’s Mathematical Mysteries - a spectacular show where Maths, Theatre and Digital Technology collide to create a fun and interactive performance proving that understanding maths can be fun!
Attracta and Nora were the best of friends when they were teenagers, they shared everything from their Bay City Rollers trousers to boyfriends! In the dark days of the 1970s they sand shangalang and they ran with the gang! They drift apart, as people do, until fate reunites them in their middle age. Handbag Positive is a new and hilarious play by Donna O’Connor, co-writer of A Night With George and stars Antrim’s own Alexandra Ford (Give My Head Peace) and Christina Nelson (Mistletoe and Wine).

Macbeth, the Thane of Glamis, receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders his king and takes the throne for himself. In this lavish adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, Michael Fassbender plays Macbeth and Marion Cotillard plays Lady Macbeth with a supporting cast featuring Paddy Considine, Elizabeth Dibecki and David Thewlis.

Hothouse Flowers return to The Old Courthouse stage six years after their triumphant show which took place in the venue’s opening season. Since the release of their last CD, Into Your Heart Hothouse Flowers have been playing steadily around Ireland, America, Great Britain, Japan and Europe. Their shows last between two and three hours depending on the level of fever in the room. Most recently their sound has been enhanced and reinvigorated by the return of Peter O’Toole on bass, bouzouki and vocals. They call upon their grand repertoire to create a show that is unique to the time and place. No two shows are the same and this one is not to be missed!

By the Edwardian era, the McKinney’s wellappointed house, Sentry Hill, was evidence of the prosperity and social status they attained through their successful farming in South Antrim.

Brooklyn tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. Based on Colm Tóibín’s award-winning book and featuring an Oscar-nominated performance by Saoirse Ronan, the film also stars Domhnall Gleeson and Julie Walters.

Long hailed as one of Ireland’s leading songwriters and performers, Kieran Goss’s music has won him fans across the globe. But if his songs have made him a star, his live shows have made him a legend. Live on stage is where Kieran Goss really shines. Kieran will perform the first half of the show solo and will be joined on stage in the second half by harmony singer Annie Kinsella. As Time Out Magazine wrote of their performance together: “Individually, they are both gifted singers but when they sing together, magic happens… the harmonies, the chemistry… just sublime.” This is a rare chance to see Kieran performing in this beautiful intimate venue.

Making a Mark Featuring the work of Men’s Shed Steeple Antrim and Time for Me Group Toome

This exhibition is drawn from The Niland Collection and is presented in collaboration with The Model, home of The Niland Collection, Sligo. This exhibition consists of a number of the lithograph brush drawings Louis Le Brocquy created as illustrations to Thomas Kinsella’s 1969 translation of the Irish legend the Táin Bo Cuailnge (The Cattle Raid of Cooley) published by Dolmen Press. The Táin is the centre-piece of the eighth-century Ulster cycle of heroic tales. The book is illustrated with 31 lithograph brush drawings by le Brocquy, 15 of which are in this exhibition. The Táin has been hailed by scholars as the greatest Irish Artist’s Book of the twentieth century. Scholars have noted that these illustrations with their precise, pared-down mark making had a great influence on much of le Brocquy’s later work, and thus have argued that the Dolmen commission was central to the artist’s career.
The Centre for Contemporary Printmaking at Seacourt offers access to the widest range of printmaking techniques in Ireland.
Thur 28 Apr – Thur 2 June Rathmore Art Club was formed over 10 years ago by a group of local enthusiastic painters. They now meet twice a week in Greystone Community Centre and produce a high standard of art. Many of the members are members of Professional Art societies including the Pastel Society of Ireland, the Art Society of Ulster and the Ulster Women Artists. We are delighted to display the work of their very talented members.
Thur 9 – Thur 23 June Making A Mark is an innovative community arts drawing project. Tailor-made for older people the project harnesses the transformative power of original artistic expression and produces social and cultural outcomes together with beautiful and original works of art. This exhibition features the work of two local groups, Men’s Shed Steeple Antrim and Time For Me from Toome.

Antrim Castle Gardens are of the most unique and historically intact gardens in the UK. The former seat of the Skeffington family Antrim Castle occupied its imposing setting on the banks of the Sixmilewater River since 1610. Seacourt artists were asked to respond to the history of the Antrim Castle site and have produced a body of original prints in a range of techniques including etching, relief and digital processes. The project was developed in partnership with Clotworthy House.

‘Phases’, a collective exhibition by Artists and Makers from Project 24
Venue: The Garden Heritage Room, Antrim Castle Gardens Mon 22 Aug – Sun 4 Sept
Kevin Hamilton is a local artist living and working in Northern Ireland, whose work creates a different way of looking at what we see every day. Taking landmarks that the people of Northern Ireland see regularly, he explores the detail and beauty of our built environment by creating a kaleidoscopic view of colour and pattern. His work aims to encourage the viewer to realise the beauty in our everyday environment and to urge us to stop and take a closer look at what is around us in our daily lives.
Tues 2 Aug – Sun 4 Sept Abstract Nature is the current body of work by Bellaghy based painter Hayley McErlean. The artworks are inspired by everyday observations of the surrounding natural world. From a glimpse of a sunrise to the changing seasons, from a beautiful tree to the unsettled weather and the varying light and shapes that brings. Hayley aspires to create pleasing paintings somewhere between expressionist and abstraction.
Sat 2 - Sat 30 July
Thur 12 May - Sat 25 June This exhibition showcases work in a diverse range of media. Over 40 artists have come together to create an eclectic display with something for everyone to enjoy. Works will be for sale so it will be a great opportunity to purchase an original piece of art.
Project 24 is a temporary art project located at Queen’s Parade in Bangor. The Project utilises six bespoke, colourful art pods each split into two mini artist studios where artists take residency. The pods are customised shipping containers, seen as light boxes with a fluid and translucent environment allowing visitors to experience different moods and atmospheres depending on the season and time of day. Project 24 is an Ards and North Down Borough Council initiative. www.ardsandnorthdown.gov.uk www.project24ni.com

The art can be traced back as far as the ancient Egyptians. After a brief introduction and explanation of the history of quilling, the workshop will take you through basic quilling techniques and finish with an item which can be taken away with you to be given as a gift or kept as a reminder of an enjoyable day.
