Mayor’s Foreword As Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, I would like to welcome you all to this year’s Christmas Carol Concert. This concert is an important event in our calendar and I am delighted you have taken time out at this busy period to come along and enjoy the Youth Concert Band from the Education Authority, North Eastern Region, as they add musical magic to the angelic voices of children from throughout the Borough. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to join together for a seasonal celebration, to spread some festive spirit and capture the true meaning of Christmas through readings and song. At the end of the concert there will be a collection to support my chosen charities for the year: ABF The Soldier’s Charity, Autism NI and Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children. These organisations are close to my heart and all monies raised today will help to support the work of these charities within the local community. Claire McCollum Claire McCollum has been a popular face on our TV screens for over 15 years. She first broke into broadcasting as the newsreader on Downtown Radio’s breakfast show in 1999. From there she moved to UTV as a features reporter and before long became a firm fixture as a sports reporter and presenter on the station’s flagship news programme, Live at Six. Claire is well known to audiences across the province and recently joined the presenting team of popular religious affairs programme, Songs of Praise. Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to welcome Claire back to Antrim Forum to host this year’s Christmas Carol Concert.
