Dive deep down under the sea in this all new mystical, magical adventure of Baby Shark and The Little Mermaid !

Tickets: £13 & £11 (Concession) Time: 7.45pm

Baby Shark is feeling adventurous and wonders what life is like away from his family, but as he wanders deeper into the ocean, things don’t go exactly as planned.

For the first time in history the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, is bringing together Lucian Freud’s self-portraits. The exhibition will display more than 50 paintings, prints and drawings in which this modern master of British art turned his unflinching eye firmly on himself. One of the most celebrated painters of our time, Lucian Freud is also one of very few 20th century artists who portrayed themselves with such consistency. Spanning nearly seven decades his self-portraits give a fascinating insight into both his psyche and his development as a painter, from his earliest portrait painted in 1939 to the final one executed 64 years later.

On his travels he meets Eugene the rock and roll singing crab, two swashbuckling, troublesome pirates Calypso and Caspian, and the Owl and the Pussycat, all who either try to help him or dare to lead him astray... Can Baby Shark find his way back to his family before he swims too far? Only you and The Little Mermaid can help him! Packed with singalong songs, nursery rhymes and lots of audience interaction.

Kieran Goss has long been considered one of Ireland’s greatest songwriters. Together with singer and artist Annie Kinsella, who has joined him onstage on his recent tours, they have enchanted audiences with their live performances and won rave reviews.

Nights On Broadway presents a tribute to the Bee Gees through their catalogue of hits over four decades from the 60s to the 90s. The full live band blend the classic hits, acoustic medleys and dance floor fillers which define the show.

Recorded in New York in spring 2018 with eight time Grammy winning engineer Kevin Killen at the helm (David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, U2, Elvis Costello), Oh, The Starlings has been described by songwriter Rodney Crowell as : ‘So good, it’s heart breaking...the record itself feels like an old friend.’

This is a totally live concert experience which prides itself on musical, in particular vocal authenticity, while the accompanying costume changes complement the show to give audiences a truly original feeling.

With songs, stories and harmonies that transport the listener to another world, this is music from the heart, for the heart.

Whether you favour the golden era of the 60s, the dance floor hits of the 70s, the comeback hits of the 80s & 90s or the string of hits they wrote for various artists along the way, this show has something to entertain everyone from the novice to the most discerning fan.

Set in strong counterpoint are the ingredients of domestic intrigue, determined love and the cruelty of an oppressive regime. The music is transcendent throughout and includes the famous Act I Quartet, the Prisoners’ Chorus and Florestan’s impassioned Act II cry in the darkness and vision of hope. By speaking to some of the greatest exponents of Haydn’s music, this film redresses the balance and sheds light on the master and his work. Haydn’s life spanned from the end of the Baroque period to Napoleon’s invasion of Vienna, outliving his younger friend Mozart. Dante’s Divine Comedy is an epic journey through the afterlife: it encompasses the horrifying drama of Inferno and its damned, the lyrical mysticism of pilgrims on mount Purgatorio and the dazzling spheres of Paradiso with their endless configurations of light. The poem was inspired by the agony of Dante’s own exile, and traces his path from crisis to revelation guided by his literary hero Virgil and his lost love Beatrice. In this new work, The Royal Ballet’s trailblazing Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor collaborates with an award-winning team – contemporary composer Thomas Adès, artist Tacita Dean, lighting designer Lucy Carter and dramaturg Uzma Hameed – to bring us closer to Dante and his extraordinary vision..

Strauss’s thrilling and audacious adaptation of Greek tragedy receives a new staging by the awardwinning director Christof Loy. This uncompromising opera, about a daughter intent on bloody revenge and a mother driven to madness, has provoked critics to lively debate and both shocked and excited audiences since its 1909 premiere. Antonio Pappano conducts music that combines violence with moments of exquisite tenderness in his first Strauss interpretation for The Royal Opera since 2002. The outstanding cast includes Nina Stemme (Brünnhilde in last Season’s Der Ring des Nibelungen) in the title role, and Karita Mattila in her role debut as the haunted queen Klytämnestra..

No glamour. No gimmicks. No pretence. Nothing but a voice, singing of life’s triumphs and tragedies.

THE OLD COURTHOUSE

Who was Edith Piaf? And how did she come to represent the spirit of Paris like no-one before or since? Her life is as well documented as her legendary voice - a child of the Paris streets who rose, via a tragic life of drink, drugs and death at 48, to become the best-known chanteuse in America and throughout the world. She lived the passionate life of a “sacre monstre”, loving, laughing, crying, drinking, taking and giving to excess. There were no half-measures. Christine Bovill’s PIAF, as much a play as it is a musical homage, is a moving theatrical homage to one of France’s most endearing icons; celebrating some of her best known songs, threaded with Piaf’s story, and Christine’s own remarkable journey in the world of chanson. An award-winning songwriter in her own right, and recipient of Spirit of the Fringe, Bovill has toured throughout Europe and the Far East with her selfpenned homage to the Little Sparrow. Despite the sorrow of Piaf’s story, this is an evening of celebration.

Caher Bridge Garden has been designed to blend seamlessly with the spectacular surroundings of west Ireland. Carl gives his take on the idea of ‘a better garden’ and suggests a selection of plants which he thinks are particularly good or of interest to Irish gardeners. Conlon seemed to have it all but away from the glamour, fuelled by an addiction to crack-cocaine, his life was spiralling out of control. A Collection of Paintings and Pastels By Sorrel Wills

Tue 21 Apr – Sun 24 May Sorrel has a passion for sunlight in landscapes and townscapes. She also enjoys sunlit still-life and interior paintings of favourite objects and places. Oil paints and soft pastels have enabled her to explore how colour can convey a sense of light and serenity that Sorrel imbues in her work. This is Sorrel’s second solo exhibition at the Oriel Gallery and she is delighted to return. She is the current President Ex Officio of the Ulster Society of Women Artists.

Abandoned, Not Forgotten? By Lise McGreevy

This is phase II of a three stage PEACE AND RECONCILE Programme which aims to strip away the politics that divide our society by celebrating the arts, cultures and heritages that unite NI traditionally. To symbolise peace on the island, the artist took Donegal, situated in Northern Ireland but under the jurisdiction of Ireland, as her muse for this collection and photographed abandoned homes to ask the open question; ‘Have we abandoned the languages, cultures and heritages that unite us traditionally for the sake of the politics that divide us?’. The launch will feature artists showcasing NI song, poetry, music and culture.

Tue 25 Feb - Sun 29 Mar

Ballymena Vis Art has been successfully running for over 50 years with a membership open to anyone interested in producing artwork, from complete novices to accomplished, professional artists. The club provides opportunity for artists to meet and gain new skills, share experiences and time to relax, draw and to paint for pleasure through a programme which includes tuition from our resident tutors and guest demonstrations by well-known local artists. Members work in oils, watercolours, pastels and mixed media to produce a wide variety of subject matter and styles.

An exhibition of paintings by Sara Maconkey, a Visual Communication graduate from the Royal College of Art. This is Sara’s 4th exhibition and visually documents the garden and surrounding countryside of her home place of County Antrim and the activity that inhabits it, from farmers getting ready for harvest in the fields to wildlife activity and her family working in the garden. Sara has completed many commissions and her work has been featured by Belfast Design Week and Ireland’s Homes Interiors and Living magazine.
