ACCOMMODATION

Kahu’s owners were very actively involved with the creation and styling of the yachts contemporary and luxurious interior styling. As experienced boat owners they were instrumental in the design & planning but also instructed Scott Cole, an independent interior designer, to ensure the styling and finish met exacting standards. Kahu’s accommodation is therefore nothing short of remarkable. Main access into the yacht is gained from the aft cockpit saloon door. The saloon is wide and spacious, light and beautifully styled to the owners request. To starboard is a large custom made hardwood dining table with U shaped seating and space to seat 8+ persons for meals. To port is a large brown leather sofa and two swivelling armchairs in blue leather. With copious storage, book shelves and stylish reading lights the saloon is truly a place to spend time onboard and relax. A sumptuous feel is really enhanced by the fitted oatmeal carpets, large rugs and warm teak woodwork throughout. Of note is the attention paid to fitting additional soundproofing throughout the saloon & under the saloon carpets. Stylish wooden venetian blinds, honey coloured Novasuede panels and custom teak joinery fitted to the deck heads all help to create a ‘homely’ long term cruising motor yacht. Entertainment in the saloon is provided by a complete BOSE surround sound system and a retractable 47” Toshiba television. Satelite TV is also available. To starboard and just before the galley breakfast bar is the side deck access door, custom full length wet locker and the yachts main electrical switch panel. Forward of the saloon and very much part of the open plan living area is a wellequipped professional’s dream galley. The galley is very much a focus point and gathering place onboard; especially at the long breakfast bar which has two chocolate leather high stools.

The galley is stylishly decorated with large ceramic floor tiles and small splash back pastel coloured tiles surround the cream Corian work surfaces. Adjacent to the galley is a large walk in pantry/lada which provides excellent dry food storage and shelving for galley equipment. A full complement of cooking pans, utensils and chinaware will be included with the yacht. Adjacent to the galley is a large day head with washbasin and porthole. Forward of the galley is the entrance to the exceptional owners master cabin and suite. This full width naturally well-lit cabin is of contemporary style and is sumptuously appointed. Soft cream carpets, pastel blue upholstery and teak furniture and trims all add to a relaxing ambience. To starboard there is a good sized writing desk / vanity unit. As with the whole boat this cabin has copious clothes storage and good wardrobe space. Above the King sized bed are two large fore deck hatches - providing good natural ventilation.

ACCOMMODATION

The adjoining owner’s bathroom is truly spectacular. Due to the rooms sheer size and contemporary styling this light and spacious suite is one of Kahu’s finest features. Perfectly suited for a long term living lifestyle and extended cruising in true comfort. To port is a long Corian surface which has ‘his & hers’ porcelain sinks with good storage below. To starboard there is a very large walk-in steam shower room which has natural ventilation above and a large Corian bench. Outside the shower are two stainless steel heated towel rails. The head is separate and adjoining the bathroom suite. Adjacent to the galley you can take the beautifully styled spiral stairwell (the ships internal rails are covered leather with a faux ostrich surface.) to the lower deck. From here you have access to the two large guest cabins. To starboard is the VIP double bed cabin with its large en-suite bathroom and separate walk-in shower. To port is the 2nd guest double cabin in which the bed runs fore & aft and also has an en-suite bathroom. Both cabins are styled by Scott Cole and use the same subtle pastel colour schemes and sympathetic materials to continue the luxury contemporary feel throughout the yacht. All toilets onboard are electric TECMA quite flush and are fresh water fed. NB. Cabin toilets have the upgraded Bidet option fitted. On the same deck and aft of the two guest cabins is the yachts ‘Utility’ area. Here are 2 x additional U-line freezers, a Miele washing machine and Miele clothes dryer. As well as a Corian work counter, sink and cupboards; this area has an ironing board which folds out for use. Aft of the ‘Utility’ area and through the large bulkhead door is the engine room. This full beam engineering room provides excellent walk around access to the main engine, main generator and Lugger wing engine. The whole room provides full standing headroom and is an engineer’s dream for servicing and routine maintenance. The engine room is immaculately presented. Aft of the engine room and through a bulkhead door is the large Lazarette. Here the ships batteries banks are fitted; as is the 2nd Onan generator, 2 x shore power cable handlers, inverters and convertors. This area also provides excellent storage for bulky items.

KAHU

By taking the stairwell up two levels you access the ships Bridge. This being the nerve centre of the yacht where much time is spent when cruising. Two custom black leather Recaro ‘Ergomed’ helm seats provide perfect comfort and 360 visibility through the many bridge windows. There are 3 x access doors out onto the bridge deck (Port & Stbd and Aft onto the bridge deck cockpit). This being a symmetrical deck allows for all round access. Which, given there are two wing deck helm positions, does mean you have ideal visibility for berthing Kahu with ease. (nb all 5 helm stations have bow and stern thruster controls fitted). The five forward facing bridge windows are each fitted with large Duro wipers. The owners chose an all Furuno navigation package (see detailed spec) and the professional’s choice - Navnet software. Aft of the helm is a large raised dinette area which again is beautifully appointed in teak hardwood and springbok Novasuede – this area is an ideal place to take meals whilst on watch. The port side of the bridge has a large desk. Making the bridge an ideal office location to work from. Behind the dinette area is a very large storage locker with opening doors and hinged top. Here is where the deck furniture and cockpit cushions are stored. On top of this locker is a full length passage berth. The bridge deck cockpit is spacious and offers plenty of lounging space on your deck furniture. Above there is a beige Sunbrella bimini for sun protection. Both here and on the flybridge deck is a removable simulated Teak deck carpet. NB – at considerable cost Kahu’s owner upgraded all exterior stainless hand rails to a 2 inch diameter. These rails are striking and a particularly good feature of the yacht.

ACCOMMODATION KAHU

From the Portuguese bridge there is central access forward onto the large foredeck. This allows quick access forward and is particularly useful when berthing the yacht. The large & flat foredeck provides space aplenty for 2 large tenders, sailing dinghy’s, jetbikes or similar. In the centre of the deck is a 240v hydraulic Marquip davit/crane. This has a 2500 lbs. (1000kg) load limit and 18ft extendable boom. 2 x Freeman Watertight Deck Hatch over chain locker. Above the bridge deck is the Flybridge. This is accessed from inside the bridge via teak stair well. The flybridge is very spacious and provides an excellent high vantage point and sociable entertaining/dining area. At this height the flybridge helm is also a good position from which to navigate. NB – Kahu’s owner spent much time and money reducing the weight of the yacht at height. This was achieved through various measures but principally by constructing the hard bimini top out of carbon fibre. It is estimated 4400lbs (2000kg) was saved as a result. The hard top height was also reduced by 6”
