THE BOARDROOM
CHRIS WHITE Good afternoon everyone and welcome to today’s game against Alton. The Brewers come to Foxcotte Park in fine form and will be looking to build on an impressive last season before it was cut short. Our last game before lockdown was here against Alton and it was a close hard fought game and it will no doubt be similar this afternoon. Last Saturday saw us draw with a strong Hythe side, which after being a goal up felt like two points dropped. We seem to let down by silly mistakes at one end and missed opportunities at the other. On Tuesday night I thought we played well in the first half and the game could have gone either way as both teams were battling hard, unfortunately we were caught out with their goal but showed some resilience to get back into the game with a great equaliser.
Away from the first team, the Swifts continue theirr fine start to the season with a 4-3 3 victory here over South Wonston in the cup a couple of weeks ago, which was a great advert for the Hampshire League. They then continued their pursuit of leaders Moneyfields with a narrow 1-0 1 victory away against South Wonston. onston. Harry Lawton scoring early on and despite trying to secure the victory with another goal, doing enough to earn the three points point that see them in second place in the league table. The newly formed ladies ladie side are also second in their league and after an impressive opening two 5-0 5 victories, they had a tough defeat at home last Sunday to a strong Portsmouth development side. They can take pride in their second half performance and more than matched their opponents in the second forty-five. forty After today’ss match, the first team travel to Fawley next Saturday and then have a local derby against Whitchurch hitchurch United here at Foxcotte Park on Tuesday 27th 27 October with a 7.45pm kick-off. Enjoy today’s game and I wish you all a safe journey home and I hope to see once again soon.
As we see all the time at all levels football is a game where current form and momentum play a major part, so let’s hope we can get the right result today and start another season defining run like we did last year.
