JOHN WARD
Good evening everyone and a warm welcome to tonight’s game against near neighbours Whitchurch United.
These are first notes for a while and although the results and performances haven’t reached the expected levels as yet I’m confident that Danny and Jamie can get us moving in the right direction.
It’s important that we start to pick up points so the gap between ourselves and the top four doesn’t become impossible to overturn.
Laverstoke & Ford have made an impressive start to the season as have Folland Sports but there is already a massive gap between those two teams.
The first half performance wasn’t the greatest but we certainly improved in the second half and it was very frustrating to come back with only a point after dominating the game and restricting Fawley to few opportunities in the second half. We welcome two new players to the club that both made their first team debuts on Saturday. Alfie Moulding produced a strong display at centre back last Saturday and also Cameron Rohart-Brown, who has joined us from Hartley Wintney and played really well so nearly marked his debut with a goal from two free-kicks.
I must also mention how well both the swifts and Ladies sides are doing this season. The Swifts, whose game on Saturday was postponed due to the weather, are currently second in their division behind Moneyfields Reserves.
The newly formed ladies side continue to gain experience and after a couple of fine wins have come up against two strong sides from Portsmouth in recent weeks in league and cup. I’m sure they are learning from the experience and will continue to improve as the season progresses.
After tonight’s match, the first team travel to Verwood Town next Saturday and then have a re-arranged fixture against Romsey Town here at Foxcotte Park on Tuesday 3rd November with a 7.45pm kick-off.
Enjoy tonight’s game and I hope to see once again soon.
