THE MANAGER

DANNY DOLAN The Street manager on last few matches, life in the manager’s office and looking ahead to tonight’s game >>>

Good evening and welcome back to Foxcotte Park for tonight’s Sydenhams Wessex League One fixture against Whitchurch United.

I’ll start by welcoming Glyn Cherrett, his staff and players and supporters who have made the short journey tonight.

The Jam Boys have started to find their form with victory over New Milton Town in the League Cup and also victory on Saturday against a struggling Downton side.

Our last home game was a disappointing result for all concerned. Despite the great start we made by going a goal up through Danny Urry. Alton equaliser was a “worldie” which no keeper would have stopped.

The second half response to going behind was again great to see but we defended poorly on a couple of occasions that cost us the points.

Last Saturday’s match at Fawley was certainly a game of two halves. We contained the Oilers for the first 45 minutes against a strong wind and then totally dominated the second period of the game. We deservedly went in front when Lockey followed up Kingey’s excellent header to score a simple tap in and we went close to adding to that on a number of occasions.

Fawley rarely troubled us but we failed to see the game out and ultimately we got punished in injury time.

It certainly was a miserable afternoon as it felt like a defeat with how late they scored and also the weather conditions certainly made it an afternoon to forget.

I take full responsibility for the results, I care about every player at the club, plus I care about getting it right on and off the pitch. We win, lose and draw as a team and we keep going until we get it right!

We will continue to focus on the next game and take it one game at a time. I’m confident we will start to pick up points and put this slight blip behind us.

Enjoy tonight’s game and please get behind your team as you always do. That support is vital in helping us close that gap to the teams above us.

Up the Street!
