Phone-answering tips to win business How you answer the phone says a great deal about your business. Phone-answering skills are critical for business. The telephone is still most businesses’ primary point of contact with customers. And the way you answer your company’s phone will form your customer’s first impression of your business. 1. Answer all incoming phone calls before the third ring. 2. When you answer the phone, be warm and enthusiastic. Your voice at the end of the telephone line is sometimes the only impression of your company a caller will get. 3. When answering the phone, welcome callers courteously and identify yourself and your organization. 4. Keep your voice volume moderate and speak slowly and clearly when answering the phone, so you caller can understand you easily. 5. Always ask the caller if it’s all right to put him or her on hold and don’t leave people on hold for longer than is necessary, only for 30 to 45 seconds.


Personal Opinion In my opinion when you answer the phone is your first impression also the first impression of the company. It is important that you learn how to answer the phone because you can not talk to an executive like you do with a family or friend. Another thing that it is important is that when you talk with the caller, the volume that you use must be correct and the caller must understand you when you talk. Â

In this unit I learned many things, things that might help me in the world of business, for example I learned that it is very important to answer the phone with good attitude and courtesy also that the caller understand me. Another thing that I learned this unit is that some companies promote their products in different ways and when a person or company want to create any product they need to be original and creative, because in this way they can catch the attention of the customers. It was a good unit and enjoy the activities that we had and also the new book, because even though it was another book, the activities and the explanations were excellent.
