Evaluation: Cath Kidston has been a good brief to add into the collection of others that I have completed for this module. Print design is not an area I have particularly explored before and although I have collaborated with Lisa before, we both have quite different styles so this brief started out as a challenge and ended up as a very enjoyable experience. We had initially planned to set ourselves the challenge of completing the entire brief in a day, but after starting and getting more into it than we had thought we would, we extended the brief out over a couple of months and came back to it a couple of times to keep getting a fresh view on it. I think the patterns we produced for the YCN submission were in the end really strong, and very far away from what we were producing originally. My role throughout this brief was to produce the basic illustrations, which once we had the final layout decided, Lisa edited and added finishing touches to. We worked well together in terms of deciding on colour schemes and pattern placements and I think in the end our personal styles and ways of working ended up complimenting each other. In terms of doing anything different, I would have looked more at the context of where the patterns would be found and used in an attempt to visualise where the end product would be. I am very happy with this brief and collaboration though and I think it was definitely a good brief to do to break up all of the branding and identity work I have done through this module.
