THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT IS TO GEN ERATE COHESION AND TO GIVE SENSE OF IDENTITY TO THE AREA OF THE LOWER EAST SIDE I N N EW YORK. THE SET CONSISTS OF 311 HOUSI NG UN ITS DISTRIBUTED I N 8 LEVELS, 2 MARKET LEVELS AND 3 LEVELS OF SAMPLE

THE RESILI ENT BORDER PROJECT IS A PROPOSAL THAT ARISES FROM TWO FUNDAM ENTAL APPROACHES: THE DISAPPEA RANCE OF SOLID WASTE AND THE LACK OF PUBLIC SPACES TO THE EAST OF THE CITY. THE PROPOSAL SEEKS TO REPLACE THE FUNCTION I NG OF THE FI NAL DISPOSAL SITES AND THE POSSIBILITY OF CHANGI NG THIS REALITY I N THE QI E THE GARBAGE IS STORED TO I N ITS PLACE TO USE IT.

THE FOLLOWI NG IS A MIXED-USE PROJECT WITH COMM ERCE AND OFFICES ON THE GROUND FLOOR AND HOUSI NG AT THE LEVELS.

1. IT IS TRI ED TO LEAVE A SPACE OF VENTILATION I N THE ADJOI N I NG SI NCE THESE VENTILATE TOWARDS THE LAND.

2. A VENTILATION VOID IS OPEN ED I N THE CENTER SO THAT EACH HOUSE CAN HAVE 2 FACADES TO VENTILATE.

THE BUILDI NG OPENS ONTO THE STREET TO GEN ERATE A PLAZA WITH SHOPS THAT CAPTURE THE PEDESTRIAN FLOW OF THE AVENUE. 5. THE I NTERIOR SPACE IS MAXIMIZED AND THE FREE AREA IS REDUCED, I N ORDER TO OBTAI N A GREATER NUMBER OF HOUSES AND LARGER SQUARE M ETERS. 6. VENTILATION VOIDS ARE OPEN ED, SO THAT EACH SPACE OF THE HOUSE VENTILATES NATURALLY.
