JANUARY’S FRESH NEW LOOK ON THE RUNWAY
Quick Facts Taylor D. was born in Atlanta on February 24, 2006. Taylor is the only child of Tracie Thomas. At the tender age of 6, Taylor exhibited a raw talent for modeling. She loved posing in the mirror and taking pictures. She loved being the center of attention (and still does); every time someone took out a camera or camcorder, Taylor thought they wanted to film HER! Experience and Training Taylor booked her first audition which was with the Cynthia Bailey Agency School of Fashion. Not only did she land it, she was selected as the second model to grace the stage at the Runway Red Celebrity Kid’s Fashion Show! This opportunity was also her first break into television; a brief segment of the fashion show was aired in an episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Taylor has had the honor to grace the runway for numerous celebrity designers and shows: New York Celebrity Designer, Jason C. Peters, Reco Chapple’s 3rd Annual House of Chapple’s “Becoming Legendary Fashion Show” in which she was his children’s line opening model; Celebrity Photographer, FreddyO’s “I Pledge to Hustle Celebrity Fashion Show” in which she modeled t-shirts designed by child celebrities, Emani Robinson, the daughter of rapper, Little Scrappy and Reality T.V. star, Erica Dickson and Reginae Carter, the daughter of rapper Little Wayne and Reality T.V. star, Toya Wright; Xernona Clayton’s Trumpet Awards, High Tea with High Heels Fashion Show featuring the designs of the fabulous Wilbourn Sisters; and The Coalition of 100 Black Women Mecca Chapter of Atlanta, “Legends of Fashion; Saluting our Icons Fashion” which was produced by Dwight Eubanks. Bronner Brothers’ Bring the Glitz under the direction of Glynn Jackson; Taliah Waajid’s Natural Hair Show; She recently participated in her first out of state fashion show in Philadelphia for Smiley Jonez’s Burning Guitars with fashion art created by Saiyd Muhammad for their launch show as well as for Philly Fashion Week. She has been selected to model with them again in the 19th Annual Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Project Economic Summit during New York Fashion Week in February of 2016. Taylor has also been selected to model in Style Fashion Week New York in September of 2016 for Janay Deann Designs. Taylor’s hard work, Godgiven talent, hard work, and dedication to runway modeling have earned her the nick name, “Miss Taylor, the Runway Slayer.” Taylor receives model coaching from Celebrity Stylist and Runway Coach, Olando Narcisse and with Stampede School of Modeling under the direction of Antwain Hill. Taylor is currently the school’s youngest model. Taylor’s passion for fashion extends beyond the runway. She is currently working on her
own clothing line called “The House of Van Miller Taylor Danielle Children’s Collection” with the amazing CEO and creative designer, Vanessa Henderson. Taylor is also an Ambassador for designer, Laron Harlem’s Decarlo Kidz Princess Bowtie and Accessory Line and a Model Representative for Ayanna Davis’s Art Fashion Princess line. Taylor not only models, she is also an actor. She can be seen as an extra on television sitcoms: UP’s “A Baby for Christmas;” BRAVOS’ Tyler Perry’s “If Loving You Is Wrong;” CW’s “The Originals;” and AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire.” Her film credit as an extra includes: “Captain America 3” and “The Divergent Series - Element.” Taylor has a principal role in a horror film, “The Games that Children Play,” release tbd and a part in a T.V. series, Lust that is currently being shopped to the networks. Taylor recently filmed a short film for the State of Georgia. This short is currently being used in a State mandated seminar for children affected by divorce. Taylor performed in her first musical theatre called “Breathe” written by Atlanta’s youngest writer and Director, Cleavon Melbourne IV. Taylor is a triple threat to be reckoned with. She is also a dancer. She performed with Ballethnic Dance Company’s rendition of “The Leopard Tale.” Interests Taylor is more than a child model, actress, and dancer; she is also an honor student, she plays basketball for her school and loves to swim, do gymnastics. In her spare time she likes to spend quality time with family and friends, read, and playing with her dolls, tablet, and board games. Hip Hop Clothing and Streetwear Portal by: James Fill
Hip hop clothing is a unique style of dress that originated from African American youth. The youth of this ethnic group started to adopt certain dress styles in the various cities of the United States. The new styles of dresses were differently named as hip hop clothes, streetwear, and urban apparel. The major cities in which these changes started occurring were New York, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Memphis, and Jersey City but the new culture spread to other cities also quite fast. Each city provided its own distinct contributions to the overall hip hop clothes style that had emerged and established itself as a typical clothing style all over the world. In spite of the specific ethnic origin by the African-American youth, the global younger generation had easily adopted this new style of dress. The hip hop clothes had become a kind of fashion statement for the modern youth. The hip hop clothes became the trend in the early 1980s, with bright color tracksuits, leather and sheepskin bomber jackets, and Clarks Shoes starting this new streetwear trend. The haircuts also underwent a change, with Jheri curl and hi-top fade, the most famous among them. The other accessories to this new trend of urban apparel were large eyeglasses, designer name plates and name belts, bucket hats, and multiple rings. Heavy gold jewelry also became part of the new scene, which continues even today. Jewelry worn by men was dominated by heavy gold chains or bracelets and women preferred large gold earrings as the fashion jewelry to match hip hop clothes. Wearing prominent gold necklaces had been adopted by both men and women, following the example set by male performers like Big Daddy Kane and Kurtis Blow, as well as female rap singers such as rap group Salt-N-Pepa and singer Roxanne Shante. The latest changes in the hip hop clothes trend had brought about a separation of the urban apparel between men and women. While women also wore the same baggy pants as men in the beginning, the present crop of women had switched over to high fashion, glamorous, and more feminine streetwear, such as the baby phat fashion line of Kimora Lee Simmons, made popular by Foxy Brown and Lil Kim. Many other younger women prefer conservative hip hop clothes that are distinctly feminine.

Dressing Your Children For The Winter by: Scott Souness
It is a universal fact that kids love winter. A soft blanket of powdery snow covering everything provides children endless opportunities for fun.-A much loved season for many children, winter symbolizes the simple pleasures of snowball fights, [building-making} snowmen and ploughing through snow banks on a sled.-From snowball fights to sledding down hills and constructing shiny-eyed snowmen, winter represents endless opportunities for fun for most kids.}While kids should not be discouraged to play in the snow, there are some precautions that need to be taken to ensure the safety and comfort of a child exposed to harsh winter conditions. Ensure that all Winter Clothes are Clean Kids have a tendency to fall ill in the winter more than the other seasons. Symptoms like the common cold, flu as well as more serious illnesses like strep throat and respiratory infections frequently occur in winter. Young children are especially at risk from these. The best way to guard them from illness in winter is to keep your kid's winter clothes thoroughly clean and free from disease causing germs. When it comes to selecting cleaning products for kid's winter clothes, organic is the way to go. Organic detergents are not only free of the harmful industrial chemicals that plague many of their non-organic counterparts, but they are also equally effective at cleaning dirt and grime. Would you trust a detergent with hazardous industrial chemicals on your baby's clothes?
Dress in Layers Dressing in layers is the best way for kids to beat the cold when playing outdoors in the winter. Merino wool outerwear and innerwear are ideal as they are not only warm but also breathable and non-scratchy - an important factor when it comes to dressing children. Avoid using cotton clothes for winter wear as they don't retain warmth as other materials. A long sleeved undershirt, followed by a turtleneck and two or more shirts rounded off with a heavy sweater or winter coat should be enough for the top half. For the bottom half consider long underwear made from a soft, breathable material like merino wool and a pair of heavy waterproof pants. Heavy waterproof boots with thermal socks should take care of the feet. If your child is the type to do a lot of running around and exploring outdoors, make sure the boots have good treads for extra grip on the slippery ice. Finally, accessories like earmuffs, a winter hat, a good pair of gloves and a scarf should give more than adequate protection. Keeping your Baby Warm in Cold Weather Keeping your baby warm and comfortable during the winter months will result in a happy baby and well rested parents! Keep your baby's extremities are kept warm at all times as they can get especially cold in a short amount of time. Baby blankets and baby merino clothing ensure that your baby stays warm and restful no matter how cold it gets outside. Baby merino clothing is not only warm and breathable, but also non-scratchy, making it perfect for a baby's soft skin.
