I am a Swimwear Designer and my brand is South Shore Swimwear. We are based in Scituate, MA - USA We specialize in custom Made Swimwear and Skatewear and also have ready-to-wear. I will attach some images of my designs and please check out our Social media links to see more of my work. I grew up in the seaside New England community of Scituate, Mass. and my environment is my greatest influence in Design. I grew up on the local beaches; swimming on the local swim team and owning several boats and jet skis over the years. My love for the beach and the ocean inspired me to design Swimwear. I recently branched out into Skatewear to balance the seasonal business of Swimwear. I am a former Apparel Designer for Reebok International and Dow Chemical and I was responsible for designing the first Girls Swimwear line for Reebok.

1.) I love the aspect of designing clothes and seeing the customer happy with the finished garment. I really didn't have any education in fashion, as a child was always interested in fashion though. I had a friend who helped me learn how to sketch better, i'm still learning but the seamstress that I use knows and all my pics are good, not great but good with definition and i explain in full detail my vision.

2.)I think about what the consumer likes and wants, also i look at the trend forecast and use all those when making my designs. Majority of all fashions are recycled from past fashion, my favorite type of fashion is from the 20's and 30's when it was big and fluffy garments. I have a few mentors but personally my 1st would have to be Ms. Linda Scott Houston. She is an amazing person she has helped me so much since I met her and consulting me when I needed it. In her own words she would always tell me to thunk of the consumer and to make sure to use the correct fabric with no short cuts.

3.)My styles are for everyone, i love designing for the everyday, casual, after 7 & urban look for customers

4.)I would say that my favorite show would be 1426 Swim Curve Week and Rock the Curves. They both taught me alot and paved the way for where i'm at today. I would say that the Pro's is working with dependable models, coordinators and seamstress who are great at their craft and also when they see and understand my vision. The only Con I would say is working with people who try to get over or undermind people.

5.)I have done shows in Atlanta, New York, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia. Florida was my favorite location so far, fun in the sun and an all new experiences. I mostly remember Florida, because of all the love that was shown to me by me being a new designer, also the new friendships I gained from the show.

6.) I love all my models,we are a big extended family. My models are all dependable and I can always count on there loyalty and support. My models range in size from petite, regular and Plus and those are for both men and women. Plus i'm in process of getting my kids group together for my new kids line. i've had great and pleasant experiences with all the other designer's for most part, I have ran across some with cocky attitudes but I just treat them how I treat everyone else with respect. for the most part I've had some designer's give me excellent advice and honest critiques.

7.)I've had some ups and downs during this year, but the good have outweighed the bad. my most memorable experience was from 1426 Swim Curve Week in June 2016 in Ft. Lauderdale. That was my 1st time being away from home and working with so many great designer's, model's and coordinators. That was where I 1st met Ms. Linda face 2 face, we had met a few weeks before by phone. I remember messaging her at 1pm in morning on facebook to ask her a question about my design's, She was like call me and gave me her #, from that moment on it's been a great friendship. Then meeting her was like meeting a celebrity that was down to earth. from doing that show I always kept up with everyone and even have some of model's from 1426 who model for me know. The 2nd memorable experience was meeting Nina Sharea another designer from Florida by way of Chicago. She showed me around and I had best time I had in years, imma always remember her for that. Everyone took me under there wing ,but those 2 was my most memorable. A close runner up would be The Rock the Curves show in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I would like to Thank Christopher McMillan for this opportunity to be in his magazine. I would like to thank God for my gift and thank my parents, family and the friends who have supported me. I have to thank all my models for there work and dedication to my vision and brand, and thank my partners in business Moses Smith my cookie..lol..LA Carter owner of Combine Magazine who is my partner on seXy oils, and Chuck Fleming from my CC Collection he is the creating force with that part of my urban line.I have to give my love, support and gratitude to my friend, mentor and rock when i'm lost Ms,Linda Scott Houston. I also want to thank all the photographer's who have been there for me in this last year Greg Hall owner of Hopps 21 Photography in Richmond,Va another great friend and mentor who helped me learn the ropes and taught me to take chances, Jay Belle of Bellevue Photography in Atlanta, Ga for his friendship and patience with me at every shoot and becoming a very valued friend, terri McKee of Terri McKee Photography in Danville,Va for taking all the great photos at 1426 for me and still being a supportive friend in last year and even coming to my Anniversary show to do my photos and support me, and McKinley Walker Jr of GMaxx Photography in Richmond,Va for being a good friend and always reaching out checking on me. last but not least I have to thank all my customers for there support either in purchasing garments, coming to shows, requesting me at shows and sharing my photos and post on there social media and keeping my brand relevant with so many other great designer's out here. This has been an amazing year and I can't wait too see what the future holds.

101 DO wear solid, clean colored clothes. Make sure your makeup is polished and glowing, like Charlize. Make sure your foundation has no SPF. It reflects the flash and can make your face appear lighter than your neck/body.  Your makeup should be a little bit more dramatic than you may think. Don’t be afraid to step it up a bit. The camera tones colors down a bit. (Emma Cleary Headshots, NY) Choose a pose and background that reflects your type of profession. (Samantha Willis Foundation) Show personality and smile. ATTN: A. Christopher McMillan

"My creative inspiration comes from a fusion of time, epoch periods and cultures, while remaining Afrocentric" . States Elesia Peterman. " I want our line to show that African print transcends. The looks can be worn strictly as traditional wear, but the looks can also be incorporated in business and everyday casual use. What makes our line unique is that it isn't just an African meets Western cohesion. Our goal is to reach and inspire a much bigger market. Our line is an international fusion. Also, being a millennial, I feel I can relate with the style trends my peers are excited about.. I want to use clothing design as my voice and demonstration of creativity." Shangani offers looks for both men and women, and intends to expand the menswear line for upcoming seasons. The garments are wearable for business casual or as formal wear. Depending on the type of garment design, the brand uses onehundred percent cotton, applied with Dutch Wax print, Denim and other uniquely blended materials of the finest quality. Completing the Afro-inspired look, the Shangani brand also features handcrafted travel handbags and clutch bags. Accessories such as earrings, bracelets and shoes, add a hint of sophistication to an individual's look. Media Relations Dist. Macintosh Smith

MERCEDES DE

MERCEDES DE LA ROSA

Hello,

My name is Mercedes and I am a fashion designer... I received my diploma from IADT (Chicago), bachelors degree in Fashion Design. I have always loved dresses, all I ever wanted to do was make women feel beautiful. It took me a long time to feel beautiful. From being overweight as a child, to fighting to drop the weight as a young adult, I wanted to be healthy and I wanted to be beautiful. I was never built like other girls, though I never let that bother me I still wanted to have that womanly figure. My dream was to create programs for young lady's to help build self-esteem and trust amongst each other. I remember cutting my bed sheets to make new clothes for my Barbie's and quickly getting yelled at after the fact. Being creative is what really keeps me going. My imaginations never lets me down.

The love carnival piece is what I am currently working on. I am currently creating graphic tees. These are my own original sketched recreated in illustrator.
